"You're here just in time. I've finished setting it all up," Noah said. "Natsu and Wendy, step inside and give it a try.
Natsu, go into the red-lined box. Wendy, you take the blue one."
The two, full of curiosity and a touch of doubt, stepped into their respective training grids.
The moment they entered, both noticed something unusual.
"What the there are flames coming out of the ground!" Natsu exclaimed, eyes blazing with excitement.
"The air here feels so much fresher," Wendy whispered, breathing deeply.
Noah nodded, pleased they'd sensed the changes.
"Because Dragon Slayer magic is unique, I tailored these environments to match your attributes.
In Natsu's area, flames are generated at fixed points. For Wendy, the concentration of ethernano is higher, and I've added the option of gravity magic in the grounds as well.
For now, I haven't activated the gravity. That can be switched on later once you're used to training. Wendy's still young, so I'll save the gravity training for when she's a little older."
He paused before continuing.
"Also, if you don't want anyone else to see your training, you can set privacy and environmental functions directly inside. All the features I mentioned earlier can be configured here.
Look at the dividing line in front of you."
Sure enough, Natsu and Wendy saw lines of text glowing faintly across the floor of their training areas. Each description had a small box beside it, with some already checked.
They stared blankly. Wendy's eyes filled with tears.
"I-I don't understand… Grandeeney already taught me how to read," she whimpered.
Noah smacked his forehead lightly.
"Of course. The letters your dragon taught you aren't the same as the writing used here. You'll need to learn the local script. From now on, after training every day, you'll also study reading and vocabulary. Daily life basics first."
He pointed to a circle glowing near the controls.
"Place your hand on that circle and pour in magic power. Once it lights up, you can remove your hand."
Following his instructions, both pressed their palms to the circle. Their guild emblems glowed faintly as the circles lit up, and streams of text appeared across the dividing lines before vanishing again.
"Good. That means your training grounds are now bound to you. From now on, you'll need to infuse your own magic into the outer circle each time you enter.
It requires about half of your magic reserve to activate. That's the same for every guild member.
And when you're strong enough to go on jobs, you'll bring back materials I need, according to your abilities. If you can't find materials, you'll provide magic power instead. That's the fee for using these grounds."
Both Natsu and Wendy nodded quickly.
"That's all you need to know for now," Noah continued. "You'll learn the rest as you grow stronger. I'll also keep upgrading the training grounds with new functions.
Now, show me the Dragon Slayer magic you've learned. I'll demonstrate how to train with it.
At the moment, anyone can walk into your grids. Once you learn how to set the restrictions, you'll be able to decide who can enter.
And don't worry about breaking anything you don't yet have the strength to damage what I've built. Just focus on hitting the practice wall in the middle.
Natsu, you go first. We'll watch from the side."
Noah pointed to the massive wall at the center of Natsu's training ground a stone block two meters wide, two meters high, and two meters thick, its surface covered in glowing runes.
Every training arena was built with one of these reinforced walls. Noah had made them exceptionally durable to prevent frequent damage and reduce the need for constant repairs.
Each training field measured twenty meters long, twenty meters wide, and one hundred meters tall plenty of space for most wizards to practice. And if needed, Noah could always rearrange or expand them.
Leading Wendy, Erza, Ultear, and the others to the edge, Noah gestured for Natsu to begin.
Eyes gleaming with excitement, Natsu roared as he unleashed his Dragon Slayer techniques on the wall.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!"
"Fire Dragon's Sword Horn!"
"Fire Dragon's Roar!"
"Fire Dragon's Brilliant Flame!"
Each strike smashed into the enchanted stone, ripples spreading across its glowing surface. As the final flames dispersed, a floating grid appeared in the air beside the wall.
Two squares lit up brightly. A third flickered briefly, then faded out.
The flames scattered in every direction, but those that reached the boundaries were caught by the barriers and dissolved into the air.
After the furious barrage, Natsu was panting hard, sweat dripping down his forehead. Without hesitation, he dashed toward a cluster of flames lingering on the ground and began devouring them hungrily.
In moments, his energy visibly rebounded.
Seeing this, Noah walked over with Wendy and the others in tow.
Natsu licked his lips and frowned at the fading embers. "Huh? That flame just vanished?"
"I've set them to appear once every twenty minutes," Noah explained. "They last for one minute before dissipating. For now, you don't need to be eating flames too often."
Natsu pointed at the floating squares beside the wall. "What about those boxes? Why are only two of them lit?"
"That's the power gauge," Noah replied. "The more grids that light up, the stronger the force of your last attack."
"So how many does Gray get? And Erza?"
"Gray usually reaches three. Erza hits four."
Natsu's jaw dropped. "Damn it! I've gotta get stronger fast!"
Noah chuckled, then waved Ultear and the others toward Wendy's area. "You all go check on Wendy first. I'll finish setting things up for Natsu."
After adjusting the gravity functions for Natsu's training ground, Noah gave him a firm warning.
"Don't push yourself too far. There's a built-in safeguard if your condition gets too poor, the system will shut down automatically. Understood?"
"I got it," Natsu said with a grin.
"Good. We'll regroup after training."
"Yeah!"
Leaving Natsu fired up, Noah walked over to Wendy, who was now sitting with Ultear and the others, slowly growing more relaxed in their company.
"Wendy, show me the magic you know so I can understand your abilities," Noah said.
Then, with a blink, he teleported in front of her and conjured a sphere of water in his palm. A small fish swam inside.
"Your healing magic requires a target," Noah explained. "So try using it on this."
"O-okay…" Wendy whispered nervously.
With a flick of his fingers, Noah created a small cut on the fish using a thread of water. Then he dispersed the sphere, leaving the fish floating gently in the air.
"Go ahead."
Wendy lifted her hands. Magic light gathered around her fingertips and spread toward the fish. Slowly, the wound closed before their eyes.
When the healing was complete, the fish wriggled happily, completely uninjured. But Wendy's shoulders sagged she looked drained, her magic power clearly taxed.
Noah studied her carefully. Her control was fine, her healing effective… but her stamina and reserves were far too low.
Now he knew exactly how Wendy needed to be trained.
