"Did Grandeeney teach you any other magic?" Noah asked gently.
"Yes," Wendy replied softly, "but I just used up a lot of my magic power. I'll need to recover before I can use it again."
"Then recover slowly. There's no need to rush," Noah reassured her.
He noticed tears starting to form in Wendy's eyes again, and quickly offered her a comforting smile. Wendy nodded, trying to hold back her emotions.
To hasten her recovery, she began to eat air cupping her little hands as though scooping something invisible, bringing it to her mouth, and nibbling at it in small bites.
The others were astonished. When Natsu ate flames, everyone could clearly see the fire vanish into his mouth. But Wendy's way of eating air looked strange almost like she was pretending. To those who didn't understand, it might even look as if she were sick and trying to chew on nothing at all.
Still, it worked. Wendy's magic and stamina returned quickly, thanks both to the concentrated ethernano in the training ground and her unique ability to consume air.
"Brother Noah," Wendy said at last, her face flushed with determination, "I'll try another magic now."
"Alright. Show me," Noah encouraged.
Wendy raised her small hands. A magic circle bloomed beneath her feet.
"Grant me the swift wind that dances across the sky… Sky Dragon's Wing Attack support form!"
A circle appeared beneath Noah as well. His body suddenly felt light as air. When he shifted his stance, his speed doubled effortlessly.
Noah's eyes widened. "Incredible… my body feels so much lighter, and my speed has increased significantly. So this is the supportive magic Grandeeney taught you."
The spell ended, and Wendy collapsed to the ground, drained of nearly all her magic power. She gasped for breath, sweat dripping from her forehead. Ultear knelt down, gently wiping her face with a handkerchief.
"Thank you," Wendy murmured, turning to Noah. "That was the other magic Grandeeney passed down to me."
"What's it called?" Noah asked.
"Grandeeney said it's supportive magic. It lets me strengthen allies like increasing speed, endurance, or other attributes."
Noah nodded firmly. "That's right. My speed just now increased dramatically, which could completely change the tide of battle. This magic is incredibly powerful, Wendy. You should be proud."
A bright smile spread across Wendy's face. She had only known Noah a short while, but she trusted his judgment completely. Hearing someone as strong as him call her magic powerful filled her with joy.
After a moment of thought, Noah looked at her sincerely.
"Wendy, I'd like to learn some of that supportive magic from you. But I'll give you something in return. If there's anything you want anything at all tell me. As long as it doesn't harm the guild, endanger our companions, or violate what's right, I'll do it."
Wendy blinked, startled by the seriousness in his tone. Tears welled up again as she shook her head quickly.
"There's no need! If you want to learn, I'll teach you. But… I don't really understand it myself. I'm not sure I could explain it properly."
"That's fine," Noah said warmly. "Just repeat to me exactly what Grandeeney taught you. And as for your wish don't worry about it now. When you decide what you want me to do, tell me. This promise will always stand."
Hearing that, Wendy's heart settled. She took a breath, nodded, and slowly began to repeat everything she remembered Grandeeney teaching her.
After listening carefully, Noah realized that Grandeeney had already designed the progression of Wendy's magic. It moved step by step, from simple to complex. The initial spells required chants, but later ones were cast silently.
As long as one followed Grandeeney's teachings in order, the path led naturally from basic supportive arts to advanced forms. She had truly prepared everything with great care and foresight.
Noah closed his eyes in thought. Wendy watched him nervously, her small hands fidgeting. Thinking she might have explained it wrong, tears began to pool in her eyes again.
Suddenly, Noah's eyes snapped open.
"I think I've got it. Here it is… Grant me the swift wind that carries me across the sky!"
As his voice rang out, magic surged through Noah's body. A glowing magic circle spread beneath his feet. Then, to the shock of everyone, circles flared under Wendy, Ultear, Erza, and the others as well. In an instant, they felt their bodies grow lighter, their movements quicker.
"He learned it after hearing it once?!" Wendy's tears dried in an instant, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Ultear gave a weary smile. "Noah just keeps getting stronger. Year after year, the number of magics he's mastered has grown. At this point, I honestly can't tell how high his power has reached."
"Noah is a complete monster," Erza said bluntly, though her lips curled into a proud smile. "But he's our monster. The stronger he becomes, the happier I am."
Having finished testing the spell, Noah walked over.
"I've seen and studied so much magic already," he said lightly. "That's why I can grasp things quickly.
Now that I've learned supportive magic, Wendy, I know how to guide your training.
For now, focus on strengthening your body and expanding your reserves. Cast your Sky Dragon Slayer spells and your supportive magic once a day no more than that. When your magic power grows, we'll increase the load."
Wendy nodded earnestly, her small fists clenched with determination.
Noah turned to Ultear and the others. "Go ahead and train. I'll stay here to watch over Wendy and Natsu."
Erza hesitated for a moment before asking, "Actually, I don't understand one thing. Why not learn Dragon Slayer magic from Wendy too?"
Ultear tilted her head, curious, while Wendy blurted out, "If Brother Noah wants to learn Dragon Slayer magic, I'll teach you!"
Noah shook his head firmly.
"No. I can't learn Dragon Slayer magic not now. If I did, with my abilities, even Acnologia would eventually fall before me. But what came after… would bring disaster to the entire world."
The group stared at him, confused. Noah didn't elaborate.
"Just remember this much I cannot learn Dragon Slayer magic," he said simply.
Erza and the others exchanged glances, but seeing his expression, they chose not to press further and went back to their own training areas.
The truth was simple: Noah couldn't take on Dragon Slayer magic because of the unresolved problem of Dragon Seeds.
Every true Dragon Slayer carried a dragon seed within their body. If left unchecked, the seed would eventually transform them into dragons.
Natsu and Wendy were exceptions. They each had a dragon who had raised and protected them, suppressing the seeds and preventing that fate.
Laxus, on the other hand, used a different method. His Dragon Slayer abilities came from a lacrima crystal embedded in his body. With that method, the risk of turning into a dragon didn't exist.
And so, for Noah, the risk was too great. Until the secret of the Dragon Seeds could be solved, he would never touch Dragon Slayer magic.
