JAY's POV
I froze after seeing the message. My mind was spiralling with questions.
How did they get my number? Why did they contact me after so long? Why does the head want to meet me?
Keifer: jay
Jay: huh?
I said snapping out of my thoughts.
Keifer: u have been staring at your phone for a while now. Is something wrong?
Jay: ah.. no. It's nothing.
Keifer: u sure?
Jay: yeah. Come on let's sleep now.
He didn't say anything after that.
The next morning:
I couldn't sleep properly all night because of that text. The school went on as usual with me deep in thought and not focused on my studies.
I couldn't stop thinking about that text.
At lunch time:
I was upstairs, near the window, gazing outside when,
💌unknown number: we r outside your school. Now u can't run away from us. Come meet us in five minutes or we will come inside.
I don't want anyone to see them here. No one can know about my past. So, I had no choice but to go to them.
As I ran downstairs. I was stopped by keifer.
Keifer: hey, where r u going?
Jay: I just need to get some air.
Keifer: jay, what's going on with u. U seem so distant lately. R u ok.
Jay: I am fine.
I lied
Keifer: u sure?
Jay: yeah.
Keifer: ok. We just got a message in the group that their is no afternoon class. Do u want to go on a date.
Jay: sure. I have to go now.
Keifer: let me come with u then.
Jay:no need. I will be back in a few minutes, ok.
Keifer: ok.
I ran to the front of the school. There they were. Standing just outside the school gate. My old ride or die friends. My old gang members.
Mason, Mateo, Alex and Aya.
Jay: how did u find me? And why r u here now, after all these years?
Mason: nice to meet u too. And fyi we r here because head wants to see u. U were hard to find but because of your involvement with section e, we found u. Now let's go.
Jay: I thought I made myself clear when I left the gang. I am not going anywhere with u guys. I am finally happy in my life. So, leave me alone and never dare show your face again.
I was about to turn and walk away when,
Aya: so u r just going to leave again just like that. I thought we were best friends.
Jay: we r aya. But I don't want to come back. Please, just let me go.
Mateo: we can't. Boss's orders. We don't know why he wants to meet u but we have to bring u back. Either u come with us the easy way or the hard way.
Alex: u can't run anymore. We already know everything about u and the people u care about. It would be better to just come with us and not let them get hurt.
I had no choice but to cooperate. I knew what they could do. After all I was one of them, once.
Jay: fine.
First, I texted keifer that I couldn't go on a date and lied that I was going to kuya's house for a while.
I knew he would be disappointed but I had no other choice.
I got in the car with them and we started driving towards the main base.
Keifer's POV
Jay has been acting so weird since last night.
I don't know what's going on with her. I am so worried about her.
I know something is wrong but I don't want to force her to tell me about it.
She was barely focused in class today and didn't even eat anything during lunch time.
Then she suddenly ran out of the building.
And now she even cancelled our date. Something is definitely going on with her, even if she says otherwise.
And whatever it is, I will find out!
