On the back seat, the same ten-year-old girl was trembling in fear.
The soldier immediately tried to pull her out and covered the broken glass of the car with a piece of cloth so the child would not get injured.
Just as he was about to take the girl out, the car tilted even more…
And the very next moment, the car — along with the dead woman inside it — fell into the deep blue river.
The soldier stumbled backward and fell to the ground…
The car crashed into the blue waters of the river with a loud sound as the waves struck against it.
In the very next moment, the vehicle completely sank into the deep water.
On the other side, the army officer had wasted no time and safely pulled the little girl out.
The instant the car was about to fall, he quickly grabbed the child and jumped backward with her in his arms.
After the car fell, the man stood up and gently helped the little girl stand as well. Dusting off her clothes, he asked softly,
"Are you alright, little one?"
Hearing this, the little girl burst into tears once again from the bottom of her heart. Pointing her tiny right-hand finger toward the place where her mother had fallen into the river along with the car, the child cried with thick tears flowing from her eyes.
"M-Mommy… Mommy…"
Hearing her painful cries, the army officer felt deeply saddened and hugged the little girl tightly.
At that very moment, many zombies began rushing toward them after hearing the sound of the car falling into the river.
When the army officer looked ahead, he saw a massive horde of zombies rapidly running over the pile of abandoned vehicles toward them.
Fear instantly appeared across the soldier's face. Carrying the child in his arms, he quickly ran through the narrow path formed between a truck and another vehicle.
The soldier then screamed loudly toward the other four officers who were still searching the cars.
"Everyone, RUNNNN…!"
Hearing his shout, everyone turned toward the direction behind him, and mixed expressions of shock and fear appeared on their faces.
Because only a short distance away from the soldier, hundreds of zombies were charging toward them at terrifying speed — a force impossible for them to fight against.
The moment they heard the army officer's warning, all of them started running as fast as they possibly could.
And within moments, the army officer carrying the ten-year-old girl in his arms was sprinting with all his strength to save both his life and the child's.
Soon, the zombies came dangerously close behind them.
One of the officers running at the back, despite his speed, got caught within the zombie horde. Several zombies grabbed him at once and started tearing into him.
The officer screamed in unbearable pain and terror.
The officer carrying the little girl tried to look back at the screaming man while running, his face filled with fear. But unfortunately, amidst the horde of zombies, only the officer's horrifying screams could be heard for a few moments before he completely disappeared from sight.
After witnessing the terrible fate of the officer who had fallen into the jaws of the zombies, the remaining officers ran even faster.
Meanwhile, the zombie horde continued chasing them closely from behind with terrifying growls echoing through the air…
A short distance ahead of the officers stood a military vehicle. Inside it were the couple they had rescued earlier, the young man dressed in office clothes, and nearly ten soldiers, including a beautiful girl wearing a military uniform.
The moment her eyes fell upon the four officers being chased by the zombie horde, the military girl shouted rapidly,
"Everyone, get your snipers on target!"
Then, aiming her sniper toward the approaching horde, the female soldier suddenly screamed,
"FIREEEE!"
At once, all the soldiers inside the vehicle began firing. Five soldiers even stepped out of the vehicle and stood nearby to shoot more accurately.
Ahead of them, the four officers — one of whom still carried the ten-year-old girl in his arms — continued running desperately.
The little girl, terrified beyond words, kept looking back at the zombie horde chasing them while thick tears streamed down her cheeks.
The officer held her tightly as he sprinted forward, causing the child to shake up and down from the force of his running.
Out of fear, she buried her face against the soldier's shoulder.
Gunfire had now completely filled the area around them. Bullets rained across the battlefield from the soldiers ahead and struck directly into the zombie horde.
The moment the bullets hit, many zombies collapsed to the ground, and as they fell, the zombies behind them crashed over their bodies one after another…
