"Look at you… this jutsu has far more uses than just getting from one place to another."
Shinju wore an expression full of mystery.
Naruto's thinking was just too simple!
Shinju continued, "A jutsu this convenient should be used for hauling things! That would be way more practical and useful!"
Naruto: "…"
Somehow, I still feel like using it for travel sounds more impressive.
...
Night.
After a simple dinner, Shinju and Naruto began their intense training.
However, Naruto's training schedule had one extra task compared to Shinju — memorizing his textbooks.
The guy's academic scores were abysmal. This needed to be fixed immediately.
Later that night...
While Naruto was fully focused on memorizing, Shinju quietly slipped out the door.
Outside, Yamato was already waiting.
"Sensei, what are we learning today?" Shinju asked eagerly.
"Before we get to that… from now on, our training location will be outside the village. I don't want you losing control of your jutsu again and causing more collateral damage." Yamato still had lingering trauma.
Just yesterday, thanks to Shinju's Wood Release: Nativity of a World of Trees, he'd been chewed out by the Third Hokage until his ears were ringing.
He'd almost been kicked out of the Anbu.
Lesson learned — no more training within the village.
Shinju understood Yamato's concern and nodded obediently.
"So where outside the village are we training?"
"I've already found the spot. There's an open area on the east side of the village where lumber is stored. Perfect for your training." Yamato spoke like he had everything arranged.
"Come with me. Even if we're leaving the village at night, I'll make sure you're safe." Yamato said with absolute confidence.
"Sensei, how about I take you there instead? I know the place well."
When Shinju heard the chosen location was the lumber yard, his eyes lit up.
That clearing had been developed by him and his Shadow Clones!
For easier transportation, he'd even set a teleportation mark there.
"Alright," Yamato agreed, stepping aside to let Shinju lead.
But instead of walking ahead, Shinju stepped beside him and grabbed his hand.
Yamato: ⊙▽⊙
Shinju, don't do this… I'm your teacher!
Sure, you are a rather good-looking kid…
But! There's no future between us!
Just as Yamato was about to pull his hand away, the world blurred for a moment.
When he came back to his senses — they were already outside the village.
Yamato: Σ(っ °Д °;)っ
What just happened?!
Too weird!
Gulp
Yamato swallowed nervously.
He hadn't even heard the wind… and suddenly, they were at their destination!
He quickly thought — could it be that a spy from another village had tailed them while they were wandering around at night?
With that thought, Yamato immediately placed Shinju behind him.
"Shinju, don't be afraid. I'll protect you!"
Shinju was baffled. Why was his teacher so hyped up today?
Ignoring Yamato's overly jumpy behavior, Shinju said impatiently,
"Sensei, there's no enemy here. Let's just start today's lesson!"
Still scanning their surroundings, Yamato scolded,
"Shinju, you're still too green. We suddenly appeared in this clearing — doesn't that strike you as strange?"
"Strange?"
Shinju scratched his head in confusion.
"What's strange about it? I just used the Body Flicker Technique I figured out today to bring us here."
Yamato responded absentmindedly, "That's not strange at a— wait!! You figured out a Body Flicker Technique?!"
Yamato: ∑(°Д°)
"When did you figure it out? How?" he asked, suddenly excited.
Shinju, not understanding the fuss, replied flatly,
"Today. I was hauling lumber and thought running back and forth was too tiring, so I wondered if I could make a jutsu to get there faster… then it worked."
Yamato: (●⁰ꈊ⁰● |||)
You created a jutsu… just to haul lumber?!
Never mind whether you actually invented it or not — that effect… it felt familiar!
"What's the condition for teleporting?" Yamato quickly asked.
"Pre-set chakra markers," Shinju answered obediently.
Yamato: (キ`゚Д゚´)!!
Case closed!
The marker and the effect…
This was none other than the legendary Flying Thunder God Technique used by the Fourth Hokage!
Originally developed by the Second Hokage and recorded in the Forbidden Scroll — an S-rank forbidden jutsu!!
Although Yamato had been shocked by Shinju many times already, he refused to believe it this time.
Maybe what just happened was an illusion!
"Show me again."
Yamato insisted.
Shinju scratched his head. This was just a plain old teleportation jutsu — not much to look at.
You just go shoop and you're there.
Seeing his hesitation, Yamato urged, "Come on, one more time."
With no choice, Shinju condensed a chakra formula on a piece of lumber beside Yamato.
Then he stepped back two paces, formed the seals, and activated the jutsu.
"Whoosh!"
When Yamato turned his head — Shinju was suddenly standing right next to him!
Under his mask, Yamato's eyes welled with tears.
He didn't want to teach this student anymore!
What kind of torment was this, to be inflicted on him alone?!
Was this prodigy born solely to prove that everyone else was just filler?
"Sensei, what's wrong?"
Seeing Yamato's trembling, Shinju thought his teacher had caught a chill.
"Don't call me sensei. I'm not worthy to teach you," Yamato muttered bitterly.
Hearing this, Shinju thought his teacher was disappointed in his talent. Panicking, he grabbed Yamato's hand and pleaded,
"Don't say that, sensei! I still haven't mastered Wood Release — I'm counting on you for that!"
Under the mask, Yamato's eyes lit up faintly.
A tiny bit of confidence returned.
That's right!
Sure, in every other way he was outclassed by this kid, but he had experience!
Right now, only he and this boy in the entire village could use Wood Release.
And with nearly twenty years of experience himself, Yamato was the only one qualified to teach Shinju in this field.
With that in mind, Yamato steadied himself and discreetly wiped the tears under his mask.
"Shinju, today I'll teach you your first jutsu." He spoke solemnly after collecting his thoughts.
"What is it, what is it?!" Shinju's face lit up.
Even though, counting yesterday's and today's discoveries, he already knew a hundred or two Wood Release techniques…
These were all self-taught by a complete amateur. Learning systematically from a real teacher was far better!
Yamato found Shinju's eager look deeply satisfying.
Even a genius needed him sometimes!
"Since you destroyed most of Konoha's buildings yesterday with your self-made Nativity of a World of Trees, I'll teach you a simple Wood Release technique for constructing houses — Wood Release: Four-Pillar House."
Yamato spoke with a trace of pride.
"Once you master this jutsu, you can instantly create a complex wooden residence. Very convenient."
But when he looked down, Shinju wore an awkward expression.
"What's wrong, Shinju? Does this jutsu seem too complicated? If it's too hard, I can start you with an easier one," Yamato asked with concern.
Shinju shook his head and replied honestly,
"When I first learned Wood Release and wanted to build a house for myself… I think I accidentally figured this one out."
As if afraid Yamato wouldn't believe him, Shinju quickly formed the seals.
Once complete, he pressed his hands to the ground.
"Wood Release: Four-Pillar House Technique!"
"Whoosh!"
A complex wooden house rose from the ground in an instant!
