Luna's POV
The palace walls exploded inward like they were made of paper.
Luna screamed as chunks of crystal and stone crashed around her prison cell. She threw her arms over her head as dust and debris rained down, but she could barely see anything through the thick black smoke that poured in through the massive hole where her wall used to be.
Luna! Sunny's terrified voice shouted in her mind. What's happening to you?
The palace is under attack! she thought back desperately. Something just blew up my wall!
Through their fading mental connection, Luna felt Sunny experiencing the same thing. Explosions, screaming, and the terrible sound of shadow creatures howling as they poured into both kingdoms like a dark flood.
A guard stumbled into her room, his silver armor dented and his face bleeding. "Princess!" he gasped. "We have to get you out of here! The Shadow King's army is everywhere!"
