New York, Queens.
On a towering clock tower, a giant clock ticked. From the top, the view of New York was unobstructed. Pedestrians walked on the streets, and as the sun set, more and more car headlights turned on. From above, they looked like thin strips of light. The orange glow of the sunset painted the land like a beautiful oil painting.
At the top of the clock tower, two people sat on the edge of the roof, looking at the distant scenery with a relaxed expression. Ever since Cassius left Manhattan, Gwen had brought him here.
"You really like looking at the scenery, huh?" Cassius propped himself up with his hands and tilted his head to look at Ghost-Spider. He noticed that Gwen loved places where she could admire the view.
"Yeah." Gwen nodded slightly, the corners of her mouth turning up. Her voice was tinged with a hint of laziness. In the past, she would admire the scenery by herself, but now she had someone she could trust with her. Her heart was filled with a little more joy, and for her, that was enough.
"Looks like you never get tired of the view of Queens!" Cassius smiled and turned his head back to look at the distance.
"I don't get tired of it because... you're here." As Gwen said this, she took off her mask, revealing her flushed cheeks. Her heart rate sped up as she spoke. For her, this was a confession. But it was also the truest thought in her heart.
"You've learned how to flirt, little Gwen." Cassius placed his right hand on Gwen's face and gave it a light squeeze, enjoying the soft feel of her skin.
"Hehe..." Instead of resisting Cassius's action, Gwen leaned in a little closer. She inhaled the sandalwood scent of his cologne and the corners of her mouth curled into a smile. Although she didn't know how Cassius felt about her, she knew that she had already fallen for him.
"By the way, have you ever seen a reversed New York?" Gwen suddenly stood up and stretched her beautiful curves, turning to look at Cassius with an excited voice.
"A reversed New York?" Cassius looked at Gwen in confusion. He really didn't know what a reversed New York looked like.
"It means looking at it upside down, you dummy!" Gwen shot a web from her wrist and hung upside down from the roof. Her golden hair fell down, glistening in the sunset. With a wide smile, she looked at Cassius with a look of anticipation. "Do you want to try it with me?"
"Sure." Instead of hanging upside down, Cassius held his hands out and then clapped them together. The view of New York instantly flipped upside down. When she saw this, Gwen was stunned.
"What?!" Gwen returned to Cassius's side and looked at him with an incredulous expression. It was the first time she had seen such a bizarre sight. It was an incredibly strange feeling. It felt as if the world had been turned upside down. But she could clearly feel that it only affected her senses.
"It's just a little magic trick." Cassius smiled and shook his head, holding Gwen's hand as he sat on the edge. In reality, the world hadn't changed at all; he had just used magic to change the way they perceived the world. It wasn't the same as the Ancient One's Mirror Dimension.
He had to say, this was the first time he had seen an upside-down New York. It felt as if the sky and the ground had swapped places. It was a completely different experience, as if the entire world was hanging in the sky.
He couldn't help but turn his gaze to Gwen. Although the scenery was beautiful, it couldn't compare to the beautiful woman beside him.
The last rays of the sunset shone on her, highlighting her small frame and delicate face. Her skin was as white as snow, and her eyes sparkled like stars. The breeze blew through her golden hair, making her look like a living painting.
Gwen felt his intense gaze and looked at him, their eyes meeting. Her face instantly turned red. "Stop staring at me! Look at the scenery." She couldn't help but avert her gaze, but even so, her sensitive spider-sense could still feel his intense stare. Her heart fluttered.
"A beautiful view must be accompanied by a beautiful woman." Cassius's voice was calm as he said this. But the calmer he was, the more it moved her.
"Isn't this upside-down world strange?" Gwen's flushed face felt hot, and she quickly changed the subject. But the reversed scenery gave her a brand new experience. Especially with a man sitting next to her, Gwen, who had never been in a relationship, felt her heart race.
"It is a bit. It feels like seeing a whole new world." Cassius nodded in agreement. He had never thought of looking at the world from this different perspective. His deep, black eyes looked back at the sky.
After she sensed that Cassius had turned his gaze away, Gwen cautiously looked at him. The sky had darkened, and the city's neon lights reflected on his face, making his features look more defined. He had an indescribable appeal.
'Is this the man I love?' The more Gwen looked, the more she felt that Cassius was like a black hole. He drew her gaze in, and she couldn't look away.
"Cassius..." Gwen suddenly spoke. "My head feels so dizzy. I think I have a fever."
"What?! How could..." Cassius was startled. How could Gwen suddenly have a fever out of nowhere? Gwen was Ghost-Spider, and her body was much stronger than the average person. He didn't think about anything else and quickly placed his left hand on her forehead. The next moment, as his warm hand touched her forehead, Gwen's face felt even hotter, and she got goosebumps.
"You really do have a fever." Cassius could indeed feel her warm cheeks.
"You're such an idiot..." Gwen pouted and mumbled softly.
"But... your forehead really is a little..." Just as Cassius was about to say something else, Gwen's voice came again.
"Try a different way." Gwen mumbled softly, her earlobes turning red.
"What did you say?" Cassius didn't quite understand what Gwen was thinking. But he also sensed that something was off about her.
The next second, with a fragrant breeze, the girl suddenly moved closer. Cassius couldn't help but tighten his arms around the soft, porcelain beauty in his embrace. At the same time, he was a little in disbelief.
Did she just kiss me? And it was the innocent Gwen!
