Chapter 12 - Contacting Wanda, Come Over Tonight, the Chthon Scroll!

Inside the Cayenne with its starlight headliner, Cassius unrolled a delicate parchment covered in strange, ancient script.

"So this is the Chthon Scroll?"

He frowned slightly, studying the ancient text. The Chthon Scroll was written by the Elder God Chthon and was essentially the predecessor of the Darkhold. It detailed the most terrifying black magic in existence. The scroll's influence was immense, and anyone who read it would be corrupted. They would lose their souls and be possessed by Chthon.

If the Book of the Vishanti, which the Sorcerer Supreme studied, was like the Light Magic, then the Chthon Scroll was the Dark Magic. The two books contained opposing and contrasting magical techniques. Therefore, practicing Chthon's magic could lead to corruption and a twisted, dark mind.

However, Cassius didn't have to worry about this. He could use the Chthon Scroll without borrowing Chthon's power, so Chthon couldn't have any influence over him.

"If I remember correctly, some of the content here can help Wanda better control her powers..." Cassius thought to himself, after a quick glance at the scroll. In the movies, Wanda used the Darkhold to practice Chaos Magic. As long as she didn't fully master it, she wouldn't be completely corrupted.

"It seems I'll have to find a way to use the Chthon Scroll to help Wanda." Cassius put the scroll back into the system and pondered. Gaining control over her powers was extremely important to Wanda right now. The reason for her mistake in Germany was partly because she had very little control over her powers. With the Scarlet Witch's true strength, controlling the explosion shouldn't have been a problem!

"How about... I go pick up Wanda now?" Cassius smirked, thinking of Wanda's expression. He was a little amused by the idea of seeing the look on her face when she saw him again. He took out his phone and immediately called her.

At the Avengers Compound, in Wanda's room. Wanda was curled up under her blanket, the events of last night flashing through her mind. She desperately wanted to forget, but the pain in her body kept reminding her.

"That damned Cassius! He didn't even introduce himself!" If the maid hadn't called his name, Wanda would have no idea who he was. For some reason, an indescribable feeling lingered in her heart.

Buzz, buzz, buzz...

Her phone, which was on silent, vibrated continuously on the bed.

"Hello?" Wanda said tiredly, answering the call.

"My lovely little witch, have you forgotten me so soon?"

When Cassius's voice came through, Wanda almost jumped out of her skin. She couldn't believe he would call her so quickly.

"You... what do you want?!" Wanda stammered.

"What do you think?" Cassius's voice was full of playful teasing.

Wanda froze for a moment, then her face flushed. "You... you called just to harass me?!"

"I was just thinking about my witch." Cassius's low, distinctive voice came through the phone.

"Who... is your witch? Don't say such things!" Cassius's words made Wanda's heart beat a little faster. He really had occupied a significant place in her heart. No woman could ever forget an experience like that.

"Oh?" Cassius leaned back in his car seat, a smile on his face. "So you're saying you're not going to take responsibility? Then I'll tell Mr. Tony Stark!" Listening to Wanda's annoyed, cat-like voice on the other end, he could imagine her expression.

"What do you want?" Wanda asked, her voice wary as she heard his light chuckle.

"I plan to come over and talk about our relationship," Cassius said, intentionally drawing out his words.

"You just want to... you filthy animal!" Wanda could imagine Cassius's mischievous smirk. It made her so angry that she gripped the phone tightly.

"Where are you?" Cassius asked again.

"Fine!" Wanda said, gritting her teeth. "Go to the back gate of the compound! I'll wait for you there!"

The Avengers Compound consisted of two white buildings connected by a skybridge and had two large helipads. From above, it looked like a connected V-shape. It was sponsored and built by Stark Industries.

Let's take our time tonight, girl~

Above us, all the stars are watchin'~

There's no place I'd rather be in this world~

Your eyes are where I'm lost in~

Cassius drove his Cayenne toward the Avengers Compound, swaying slightly to the rhythm of the music. In the distance, he saw a crowd of people in the middle of the road holding signs.

"Superheroes get out of New York!"

"We don't need these hypocritical thugs!"

"Wanda get out of this city! She's a demon!"

"You just use the name of justice to hurt everyone!"

The protesters held up signs and shouted as they marched toward the Avengers Compound.

"This..." Cassius was speechless. The locals were truly "simple" people. Even he would get a headache from seeing this every day. These poor people were just blinded by the media. Both sides were victims, and the only people who truly benefited were those in power.

This was the truth of this world; only by creating conflict could they maintain their interests.

"Sigh... poor Wanda..." Cassius turned down the music, his cheerful mood turning slightly somber. She was just a poor girl who had to endure so much injustice. Power? Even with great power, her heart was as fragile as any ordinary person's.

Buzz~

Just then, his phone vibrated.

[Wanda]: I'm at the back gate.

Seeing the message, Cassius immediately turned his car onto a side road. He hadn't driven far when a figure suddenly rushed out of the woods.

Screech!

At the last moment, Cassius slammed on the brakes.

"What's going on?" He looked at the person in front of him, frowning. Is the Cayenne's charm really attracting people from the woods?

Just then, several other people, men and women with white paint on their faces, rushed out of the woods. Without a word, they began frantically hitting the car windows and hood, baring their teeth.

"What the fuck?! Are they trying to 'nanorevive' me?!" Cassius was stunned, not understanding what these lunatics were doing. Not even during a zombie apocalypse would people act this crazy!

"You get out of there! You're one of them!"

"I saw you! You're definitely trying to sneak into the Avengers Compound!"

"Get that damned bitch Wanda out here! Or you're dead!"

"Don't think you can escape punishment, you murdering demons!"

Cassius gritted his teeth, veins popping out on his forehead as he looked at the crazed people.

"You're asking for it!" In his opinion, these people were only so aggressive because they were paid. The people at the top were deliberately stirring things up, trying to force the Avengers to compromise.

He unbuckled his seatbelt and rolled up his sleeves. Just then, his phone vibrated.

[Wanda]: Ignore them and turn back.

Cassius looked at the message, knowing Wanda was watching him. He quickly tapped on his screen and sent a reply.

[Cassius]: They should be taught a lesson!

The Avengers couldn't take action for justice's sake, but he was different. He wasn't an Avenger. Justice? Moral high ground? When you have no morals, no one can hold you to them.

Cassius opened his car door and stepped out. His imposing figure intimidated the protesters, who instinctively took a few steps back. They never expected him to get out of the car.

"Fake! He's just one person! What are you afraid of?!"

"Let's teach this reckless guy a lesson!"

"He's not a superhero, let's go! All of us!"

Gritting their teeth, a few protesters raised their signs and swung them at Cassius.

Whoosh!

As the wooden signs cut through the air, their eyes suddenly flashed with a dark light. They stopped their attacks and instead swung their signs at their companions.

"What the fuck! Are you blind?!"

"Ah! Don't hit me! Are you high?!"

"Who brought this guy in?!"

The protesters began fighting each other like wild animals, biting and tearing at one another.

"Tsk!" Cassius's eyes flashed with a fiery red light, making them look both eerie and seductive. He shook his head contemptuously, got back in his car, and drove away.
