"You said you searched everywhere, yet you return empty-handed again?" My voice was low, controlled, but each word carried the sharpness of steel.
The three scouts kneeling before me dared not lift their heads as the Sanctum was cloaked with incense, curling lazily in the room.
Even the flames of the lamps seemed to hesitate, flickering timidly as if afraid of my wrath.
The first scout swallowed hard, voice trembling, "A-Alpha, we searched the borders, forests, every road leading out of the Pack, and even into the outskirts of Morvain's lands... But there was no trace of Luna Elowen."
His forehead pressed deeper against the floor, sweat pooling at his brow.
Another, desperate to soften the blow, quickly added, "We did hear rumors, Alpha. Traders mentioned a woman matching her description and they spoke as if she still lives. But her exact location… we failed to pinpoint it."
