She was panicking a lot and without thinking twice, I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her to my chest, hiding her in my embrace, her scream started to waver until it turned into a broken cry.
"Calm down Cecily, I am here with you okay? It's alright, you are not alone..." I tried my best to calm her down, her heightened breathing was coming back to it's pace gradually.
Upon calming down she groaned as now her hand gripped over my arm and squeezed it tightly, making me hiss at her tight grip, but I didn't tried to take it out of her hand.
"Cecily, now please listen to me, okay?" Her eyes looked into mine.
"Hmm... I am, listening." I smiled, as she was finally talking.
"Good, now I want you to remain relax, okay? You shouldn't take even little bit of stress, I want to check, how much ready you are to bring your baby okay? And we will do it all nice and slow, because we want to do it all normally right? So lay down, all these women will help you too, you just need to relax at first, hmm?"
I softly talked to her, as if I was talking to a kid, and she really did look a lot like a kid to me, so scared, so fragile.
I checked up on her, and fortunately she was almost ready, she was 9 cm dilated already, just another one to go.
All of us were trying to keep her stress free, and she herself was quite cooperative, taking deep breaths when I told her, telling me how she felt every time she felt something different.
And after half an hour, she was finally there, she was ready, and after a strenuous labour, her daughter was finally born.
On exact 8.06 p.m.
Softly wailing and crying as I held her in my arms cleaning her and wrapping her up in a towel as I then laid her on Cecily's chest.
"Congratulations Mama, it's a baby princess." I announced as her baby went from crying to instantly calming down in her mother's embrace.
I wiped the sweat that was formed on my forehead with the hem of my sleeve, looking at Cecily and her daughter Infront of me.
This was my first ever case, where I had assisted a delivery all alone, that too out of a hospital, and thankfully it all went well.
Soon after I had cleaned up Cecily, I had her laid on the freshly cleaned bed, even the rain had also finally came to an halt. And the electricity was also back.
As if both had been waiting for the girl to be born, all the staff workers had went away, except for the assistant manager who had successfully got in touch with Luca, and according to her Cecily's brother was going to be there as soon as he could, a paramedics team was also called in case there were some problems, even though I had made sure everything is goigm to be fine, but still I had her ready so she and her daughter both can go with the team as soon as they would come.
According to my experience I could say that the baby weighed less than 5 kg, but more than at least 3.
Taking the baby I went and cleaned her up properly, and now she was finally clean, I dressed her up in a cute pink romper , I had found in the nursery that was set in the room besides Cecily's.
"My brother had bought it, he prayed that my baby should be a girl." Cecily spoke softly as I was dressing her daughter, making me smile.
"Then what about you? What did you wanted?" I asked softly before wrapping the baby up in her blanket and picked her up in my arms.
"Me? I didn't even want her." My smile dropped at her words, and I was frozen at my place.
"I...got in a relationship with my classmate, my brother had always warned me about boys like him, but I? I was blinded by the stupid emotion called love, and he...forced me... Left me in that very hotel room wjere he took advantage of me and on his way back to his home, his car crashed and he died, but I? I was there for hours before my brother finally found me... And then after sometime, while I was still recovering from everything, I found out, I was pregnant... So what do you think, did I want the baby?"
She recited her whole story, and I was even more shocked, Cecily the girl who wasn't even discussed as an extra, had her own painful life... I looked at the little bundle in my arms.
I took a deep breath and walked towards her.
"Here, your baby!" I handed the little babygirl in her arms and sat next to her.
She had quietly taken her in her arms, staring at face as her fingers slid against her forehead through her nose, to her lips and then her chin.
"She looks, nothing like him." She mumbled and went back on touching and admiring her daughter.
"Oh I'm sorry, You helped me so much with my labour, but I didn't even ask your name, What's your name?". Cecily asked and I was about to answer her question when I heard footsteps behind me.
"Laurel? What are you doing here!" I turned around, looking at Kalix who stood beside Cassian, both staring at me, baffled.
And following them the paramedics team walked inside the room with a wheel chair and crib for the baby.
"Mr. Valor, we will be taking Ms. Cecily with us for a proper checkup at the hospital, but may I know where is the doctor, or the person who delivered the baby?" The incharge of the paramedics team walked upto Cassian, as the team and a doctor went to Cecily checking her blood pressure, before making her sit in the wheel chair, and her daughter in the crib.
I bit my lips, fidgeting my fingers. I didn't expected Cecily to be, Cassian's sister, nor had I expected Kalix to come here...for any reasons.
"She...is the one who assisted me in my delivery." Cecily told the doctor by pointing over me as the doctor looked at me with shock, and so did Cassian and Kalix.
"WHAT?" both Cassian and Kalix screamed altogether.
"The heck were you thinking, doing something like that!" Kalix walked to me grabbing my arm in a tight bruising grip.
"Do you think everything is a joke for you? Have I been supporting you all this time just so you could play with innocent lives?" His grip kept getting more and more painful, until Cassian walked forward and jerked Kalix's hand away.
"What are you doing Kalix! leave her, it's of no use." Cassian said while sparing me a glance full of hatred, before walking to his sister and her baby.
"She would be as better as dead for me, only of she had thought before doing something like this!"
And I was left staring at his face in disbelief.
