Chapter 96 - Chapter 96: I Will Hit You, Do You Dare to Agree?

Inside the research facility.

Dawn was breaking.

Fury and the others looked dumbfounded as Saitama muttered to himself, picking up the hammer, putting it down, then picking it up again.

The scene was bizarre beyond words.

At this point, Fury truly wondered—was there anything in this world Saitama couldn't do? The thought left him shaken.

He glanced at Natasha, his meaning clear: "Natasha, you've got to work harder. The future of S.H.I.E.L.D. rests on you! If this goes well, you'll be the director's wife someday."

Pfft—

Natasha rolled her eyes. This bald man was impossible. There was no way she could pull that off.

"Amazing, Saitama. I didn't think you could even lift that."

Natasha couldn't help but admire him.

Nearby, Barton's scalp prickled, his hands trembling faintly as if suffering from seizures—aftershocks of being hammered by the bald man.

Coulson, along with the agents, soldiers, and scientists, could only gape in stunned silence.

"Take him away. I'll question him later."

Fury instructed his soldiers.

Outside, Jane and the others who had narrowly avoided the lightning were still in shock, watching helplessly as Thor was taken.

Just then—

"Wait!"

A blur of figures rushed past, their speed like a sudden storm.

The two soldiers holding Thor were sent flying several meters.

It was Sif and the Warriors Three, arriving in time to save him.

"Sif? Volstagg, Hogun! Fandral!"

Thor was overjoyed—these were his most trusted companions.

The four of them were equally relieved.

"Forgive us. We must take Thor back. He is the god of Asgard. Our king Odin is not dead, only in slumber. Thor, you must return."

Sif said firmly.

"Not dead?"

Thor's dim eyes lit up—only to darken again at the thought of Mjolnir.

Meanwhile, Fury frowned at the group's strange attire, recalling their frightening speed and strength.

These were no normal humans.

Until now, he had assumed Thor was delusional, maybe an escaped mental patient. People under pressure sometimes did that—grab a diagnosis and hide behind it.

But now… he began to suspect Thor was telling the truth. Perhaps Asgard really existed.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I can't grant your request. Please cooperate with us and submit to our investigation."

The seasoned director shrugged casually.

He shot a look at Natasha and Barton.

Sif and her companions tensed, preparing for battle.

Suddenly—a deafening boom shook the ground. The battered facility collapsed in an instant.

"Damn it! Who's attacking? Find them! I swear they'll regret it!"

Coulson raged.

But when he turned, his face froze.

From the rubble rose a massive figure of iron, its body covered in jagged spikes, its head hollow, with blazing fire flickering inside.

Saitama exhaled.

"Iron Man's work? Looks like one of Stark's new models…"

Fury and Natasha relaxed slightly. Though Stark had never joined S.H.I.E.L.D., at least he wouldn't deliberately attack them.

But before they could finish the thought—

The air grew hotter.

Blinding crimson light surged from the creature's head.

"Not good! Everyone, move!!"

Fury and Coulson bolted.

Boom!

A blazing fire pillar shot forth, blasting a military vehicle into the air.

"Fire! Fire!!"

The soldiers unleashed a storm of bullets.

But the rounds only sparked harmlessly against the monster's hide, falling uselessly to the ground. Not even a scratch.

Ssshh—

Another pillar of fire sliced through a row of barracks like tofu.

The sheer destruction was terrifying.

"It's the Destroyer!! Loki!!!"

Saitama grit his teeth. This thing was here with no good intent.

"Protect Thor! We attack!!"

The Warriors Three and Sif charged, their weapons striking with great might.

Sif's blade pierced the Destroyer's chest—

But a moment later, its body spun, face aligning with hers. A fire pillar blasted her away.

Gods battling gods.

Fury and the others couldn't interfere. The soldiers were little more than bystanders.

Even Hawkeye, still traumatized from his last encounter with the bald man, was useless.

"Stop! Stop!!"

Thor's heart sank. If this continued, Sif and the others—and even his mortal friends—would be annihilated.

No one knew the Destroyer's power better than him.

He stepped forward, ready to sacrifice himself to protect everyone else.

If he died, Loki would stop hunting his friends.

For once, the arrogant god sought redemption through sacrifice.

But someone else moved faster.

"This thing looks pretty tough. Stronger than Stark's toys, at least."

The bald man scratched his head.

He gripped Mjolnir tightly.

And said seriously:

"I'll hammer you once. Dare you accept?"
