Dante's POV
The gunshot rang out like a bell of doom.
Time slowed down as I watched the bullet fly toward Vale's heart. Even though our mate bond was broken, every part of me screamed to save her.
I threw myself forward, but I was too far away. Too weak from the ritual.
The bullet should have killed her.
Instead, it bounced off her skin like it hit steel.
"What?" Vincent stared in shock.
Vale looked down at her chest, just as surprised as everyone else was. Her skin was glowing with soft silver light, like moonbeams were dancing under her skin.
"The ritual didn't steal your power," Luna said, her eyes wide with wonder and shock. "It awakened it fully."
Before anyone could react, the warehouse doors exploded inward.
A pack of twenty werewolves charged in, their howls shaking the building and Leading them was Jake, my old friend who I thought was dead.
"Sorry we're late!" Jake shouted as he shifted into human form. "Traffic was murder!"
