Vale's POV
A vampire was staring at me when I opened my eyes.
I jerked upright so fast my head spun, but the pale woman with blood-red eyes just smiled and stepped back.
"Easy," she said in a voice like silk. "I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to serve you."
"Serve me?" I blinked hard, trying to clear my fuzzy vision. "Where am I?"
"Luna's sanctuary," the vampire replied. "Hidden deep in the mountains where no government spy satellites can find us."
I looked around and gasped. The room was carved from living rock, with glowing crystals providing soft light. But what shocked me wasn't the cave itself—it was all the creatures filling it.
Werewolves sat next to vampires. A group of witches were sharing food with what looked like actual fairies. In one corner, a massive man with skin like tree bark was arm-wrestling with someone who appeared to be made of living shadow.
"How many are there?" I whispered.
