"So, you're from Anti-Entropy I presume since Mei's father is also a part of this very same organisation. I doubt outsiders would be permitted to meddle in the affairs related to someone within their organisation.
Especially someone of incredible influence and has, what I assume is a high position and rank." I directed my rambling thoughts to the restrained man I had mind controlled with Siva bots.
Truth be told, I didn't need to ask the man these questions in an interrogation since I could very easily just mind control him to tell me.
However, I need to improve my skills, such as interrogating people for information the conventional way.
I had researched many forms of information gathering and torture, however, I never had a chance to put them to practical use until now.
As for Mei, I had taken her to her room and immediately took my leave. I left some Siva bod at the Raiden estate to repair all the damages, after all the Siva bots in the Destiny franchise was meant for construction after all.
Furthermore, they also doubled down and served as spy drones so I can be aware, at a safe distance, if the Herrscher 'Mei' awakens again.
Since then I have redoubled my efforts to complete the 'Immortality' serum.
And the perfect test subject was right here.
Despite the fact my body still hurts from 'Mei', I had somewhat felt better than I was.
And first on the agenda was administering it, with a failsafe of course, into his body.
With the serum ready and a syringe ready to be injected into the man's body via an operated mechanical injector.
"Now, let's see if this serum works as intended," I murmured to myself, a smirk playing on my lips.
The man, sensing his impending fate as my test subject, struggled against the bonds that held him in place.
He was injected with the Reactive Adaptation serum into his veins, I watched from the other side of the safety glass as the liquid, a swirl of shimmering gold, disappeared beneath his skin.
For a moment, his body remained still, his breaths shallow and erratic. Then, with a sudden jerk, he arched back, a guttural scream tearing from his throat.
His muscles bulged and spasmed as the serum began its work, rewriting his very DNA to enhance his physical capabilities.
Within the containment room, I initiated the first set of tests.
A flurry of darts shot out from the walls, coated in a neurotoxin so potent that even a mere scratch would be fatal to a normal human.
His pupils dilated, his skin began to glow with an eerie light, a clear sign that the serum was taking effect.
The next test had the room shifted around us, the floor rising and falling in an attempt to disorient and destabilize him. This wasn't exactly a major test, but it still mattered as it could be considered a disadvantage to the host, and myself in future battles.
Yet, his feet remained firmly planted, each movement calculated and precise. His eyes, now a piercing blue.
The walls started to close in, crushing him under the weight of steel and technology.
His body, now a marvel of biological engineering, adapted. The pressure mounted, his bones cracked and reshaped, his skin thickening and hardening to resist the crushing weight.
His cries of pain morphed into something almost inhuman as he fought against the confines of his own body, pushing the limits of what the serum could do.
But this was just the beginning, I wouldn't stop until I was absolutely certain I couldn't be killed once I use this serum on myself.
The next wave of tests were more extreme, designed to push the boundaries of what the Reactive Adaptation could withstand.
I introduced a virus into the room, one that had claimed countless lives in the past, watching with a clinical detachment as his body fought the infection.
His skin bubbled and blistered, yet somehow, he remained standing, his body adapting to combat the pathogen on a cellular level.
The next test began immediately after with no breaks in between. The air grew thick with the scent of burnt flesh and ozone as the room's temperature soared to over 300 degrees Celsius.
The man, drenched in sweat, his eyes now a fiery red, did not flinch. His body absorbed the heat, his cells rearranging themselves to withstand the intense temperatures.
Next, I filled the chamber with a noxious gas, one that would burn the lungs and blind anyone who inhaled it.
The man choked and coughed, his eyes watering, but his body began to produce a clear, protective film over his skin and eyes.
His lungs expanded and contracted more efficiently, filtering the toxins as if they were mere dust particles. His pupils dilated again, allowing him to see through the thick haze.
As the tests grew more and more extreme, so did the man's transformations. His bones grew denser, his skin tougher, and his reflexes sharper.
The serum was working as intended, pushing the boundaries of human physiology to the brink of impossibility.
At the end of every transformation and adaptation his body underwent, i had programmed it to 'reset' his body back to it's original state, that way when I used it, I wouldn't permanently evolve and adapt to become some kind of grotesque monster either plating on my face or pincers as limbs, yeah…no thanks!
I took notes, watching every twitch and contortion with the keen eye of a scientist, making mental adjustments to the serum's formula as needed.
But then, something unexpected happened. The serum had reached its peak effectiveness it seemed, and the man's body could no longer keep up with the rapid pace of change.
His body convulsed, the adaptations happening too fast. His screams grew in pitch until they were almost inaudible to the human ear.
The room's sensors went haywire, unable to keep track of the changes occurring within him. And then, as suddenly as it had started, everything stopped. The man's body went limp, the light in his eyes fading.
For a moment, I feared that I had pushed him too far, that the serum had been imperfect and I would need to start over.
But then, a soft beep from the medical monitors brought relief to my anxious mind.
"Well, I did remove the AI selection feature since he's a fully sentient being and he would've been able to adapt against my failsafe if he knew about the power he actually possessed as of now. I guess I'm satisfied with the results."
The power that would soon be at my fingertips was intoxicating, and I knew I was closer than ever to achieving true immortality.
But first, I had to ensure that the serum could be reversed. I issued the command to the Siva nanomachines, instructing them to remove the Reactive Evolution Gene from the man's DNA.
The tiny machines swarmed through his bloodstream, seeking out the offending genetic code. I watched as the monitors flickered, displaying the microscopic scene within the man's cellular structure.
The Sivia bots, programmed to respond to my will, began to break down the altered genetic material, piece by piece until it succeeded and extracted the X-Gene in his body carrying the power.
Yeah, I copied the name, sue me!
Seeing that I no longer required the man, I had the Siva bots kill him on the spot and dissolve his body.
***********
I was debating on giving him the power right now or not but then he would stream roll through the verse and it would feel semi-boring.
Based on an earlier story concept i had a few years ago, I plan on using only half of the idea to spice up the story but that requires holding off on Dante obtaining the Immortality serum.
Which I planned in a reasonable way, though I might spice things up a bit with a little unexpected surprise, who knows.
Please leave a review and powerstones as it helps raise popularity of this fic to become more widespread and serves to encourage and motivate me greatly through trying times.
