The first thing Zyric became aware of when he finally regained consciousness was that he was in Dr. Hazel's cabin, lying on a stretcher that felt much softer than the ground.
At that moment Dr. Hazel appeared to be absorbed in some of her professional duties, and did not at first observe that he had opened his eyes.
"Dr. Hazel!" Zyric called out in a weak voice as he tried to stand by holding his aching head.
"Don't panic, Zyric. It was nothing more than a little weakness. You don't have to return home today; it will be better if you stay here and rest for the day," Dr. Hazel said to him gently.
The fact of the matter was, that he had bled a great deal, and then he had no life in him. Still, in such a condition, his thoughts were wandering a thousand miles away. "But... but I needed to learn about the Fuzan Vault! Class in the Fuzan Vault has to be long over by this point and I still know nothing of it," Zyric grumbled with a sigh.
Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, Zyric said with a pleading tone, "Wait a minute, you are my senior. And you are also a doctor. You can explain to me about the Fuzan Vault, can't you, Dr. Hazel?"
Hazel sighed softly before responding, "We doctors don't know as much about the Fuzan Vault as the Monster Tamers themselves, Zyric. And even if we know certain things, we will never be able to explain them to you in the way a Monster Tamer can. You will only truly understand the Fuzan Vault if it is explained to you directly by a Monster Tamer." She explained this slowly, as if trying to make him understand her point clearly.
Zyric, though unwilling, also understood her reasoning. But now there was nothing left that he could do. He was utterly disheartened. Only two months were left for him to tame a monster or even a simple animal and perhaps that wouldn't even happen, the Fuzan Vault class had been his last and most desperate hope.. By understanding the Fuzan Vault, he could have at least attempted to tame a creature. But perhaps, destiny had written something else for him.
Now, not only did he remain ignorant about the Fuzan Vault, but he had also not tamed any monster or animal provided by the Monster Taming Organization. That meant that, after these two months were over, he would certainly be expelled from the school, as this was already his fifth year here.
Zyric had heard only fragments and bits about the Fuzan Vault from others, and he had always wanted to learn about it in detail through the lecture. That way, he would not only have understood the Fuzan Vault properly but also gained a deeper understanding of monsters themselves. Yet, all of that was gone now because the class was over, and in this way, Zyric was left with nothing.
The section of the class Zyric belonged to mostly had beginners, children who had come to learn everything right from the foundation. Zyric too had been learning, but unlike the others, he had still not been able to tame even a normal animal. He was the only student in class who wasn't accompanied by another tamed beast, all other students had at least one animal that they had tamed and he was left out in the school.
At the end of the year, all the students would move up to the next section of the academy, where they would once more learn new and more advanced things. But Zyric... Zyric would not move forward. He would be expelled from the school.
Thinking of all this, Zyric's eyes began to fill with tears once again. He had waited for the Fuzan Vault class for five long years. It had been his single hope, his one chance, but now even that hope had slipped away.
"Look, Zyric, don't panic," Dr. Hazel tried to comfort him. Just as she said this, a beautiful girl suddenly entered her cabin.
Zyric looked to the girl, but as his present thoughts were occupied with more anxiety and grief, he did not take it in. He barely gave her a look before dropping his eyes and focusing on his own worry.
Empty-socked and unsteady, he tottered from the stretcher.
Dr. Hazel immediately rushed to catch him. "Zyric, you must not go anywhere. You have got to stay here to night, just lay down and no talking," she said sternly.
"But... what will I do here all alone?" Zyric murmured, helpless. And Hazel she had listened to and patted his head kindly with a smile. "You will not be in this place alone to-night, I will be here to stay. Okay? So be huh - relax, man", she said, softly. Then she looked at the girl who had come in only a couple of minutes before.
Hazel walked toward her and said, Hazel moved closer and asked, "Raven, my love, are you all right? Why have you come here at this hour? Are you hurt somewhere?" Hazel asked with concern.
Raven shook her head. "No, Dr. Hazel, I am fine. I just came here to give this to him. I should get out of this place before any one sees me here. It is a long story, Here." Without waiting for a further response, Raven handed Zyric the peculiar envelope and fled the cabin.
Zyric, hearing her words and watching her sudden actions, became utterly confused. He wanted to ask questions, but by that time, Raven had already disappeared from the room.
"Dr. Hazel, what are you..." Zyric was on the point of asking, but Hazel mistaken its intent, and smiled.
"She has left something for you. Let's see what it is. I hope it's not a love letter hahaha." Hazel said jokingly while she patted his shoulder firmly.
"Wh... what are you saying, Dr. Hazel!" he exclaimed while furrowing his eyebrows, and quickly opened the envelope. Inside, there was not a letter but a pendrive.
"A pendrive? Can you lend me your laptop, Dr. Hazel? "Zyric asked Dr. Hazel eagerly. Hazel noded a yes and handed him her laptop, and Zyric inserted the pendrive into it. Within moments, files and folders began to appear on the screen.
"Fuzan Vault Class!" Zyric gasped in shock as his eyes widened at the sight of the folder.
Of course, deep inside he was overjoyed, but alongside that joy came fear. "Yes, I mean... I can see it. But that is illegal, isn't it? Raven and I could get into a great deal of trouble, if anyone knew about this, Like as not" he added grimly.
"Right enough, but she did give it to you, because she knew she could trust to you. So now it is your turn to be careful and remove the video from everywhere before someone catches you."
Zyric's mind itself was on turmoil as to why Raven would have done such a risky act on his behalf in spite of the fact that she could be expelled from school for it. But shaking away all those distracting thoughts, he cleared his mind and finally began watching the Fuzan Vault class of Miss Grace; the very class he had missed.
