"This guy's just been holding back. He only spikes his power level at the instant he strikes. By my estimate, his battle power should be around sixty thousand."
Hearing that, Jeice jumped in fright. "That high!? Isn't he the same race as Vegeta? I've never heard of any Saiyan with that kind of strength!"
"That's not impossible," Ginyu said. "He might be a once-in-a-lifetime genius warrior like us. Looks like I'll get to enjoy an unprecedented battle. I never would've dreamed I'd have a chance like this to display my true strength."
Knowing how strong Captain Ginyu was, Creed said softly, "Goku, do you need me to step in?"
Goku shook his head, telling Gohan to head to the spaceship first to look for the Dragon Balls. Meanwhile, without saying a word, Vegeta flew straight toward the Grand Elder's place. Just as Goku was about to stop Vegeta, Ginyu rushed in first and punched Goku in the face. This blow wasn't too heavy for Goku right now—he reacted instantly. The moment he was knocked back, he adjusted his breathing. The instant he landed and steadied himself, Ginyu appeared behind him again.
Goku whipped around and drove an elbow into Ginyu's chest. The two quickly reset their stances, attacking and dodging without giving an inch. Still, Ginyu's battle power was a notch higher. Seizing an opening, he grabbed the leg Goku kicked out and hurled him away.
Seeing Ginyu seemingly suppress Goku, Jeice wanted to jump in, but Creed stopped him. Even though the scouter showed Creed's battle power was only three thousand, after taking a loss to Goku earlier, Jeice didn't dare act rashly. He could only stand there, grinding his teeth as he stared at Creed.
Not expecting his opponent to be this strong, Goku planted his feet on the hillside and rushed back in, wanting to attack again—but Ginyu had already vanished. He couldn't see him anywhere nearby. Suddenly, the ground split open. Ginyu burst out from beneath Goku's feet and punched him in the jaw, slamming Goku to the ground.
But when Ginyu tried to step on him, Goku propped himself up with one hand and kicked him away. Goku wasn't leisurely like before—he chased down relentlessly. The two launched an aerial exchange, offense and defense colliding. Fists and feet became countless afterimages, and the impact of their bodies shook the air with deafening booms. Even so, fighting like this still favored Ginyu. After knocking Goku down, he returned to the ground as well.
"So that's how it is…"
Ginyu stared at him and said slowly, "Your ability is indeed a bit higher than I predicted. Vegeta didn't bother with you and ran off first—must feel pretty damn frustrating, huh?"
Goku wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. He had no time to worry about Vegeta now. If he didn't decide this quickly, that sliver of hope everyone had fought so hard for would turn to nothing.
Vegeta wasn't actually heading toward the Grand Elder at all. He turned in the sky and flew toward the spaceship. He knew he wasn't a match for Frieza. Even if he went there, it would be useless. Better to grab the Dragon Balls first. Besides, Kakarot and Ginyu were evenly matched—there was a good chance they'd both end up badly injured. That would only benefit him, not harm him.
As long as he got the Dragon Balls, then forced Gohan to tell him how to summon Shenlong, he could gain an immortal body. Then he could go and defeat Frieza. Thinking of that, he couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Goku clenched his fists tightly and stared at Ginyu, speaking slowly. "I'm in a hurry. So use your strongest move already. If you don't, then don't blame me when I finish you in two or three moves."
Ginyu sneered. "What a confident mouth. From the day I was born till now, this is the first time anyone's talked to me like that. If that confidence of yours comes from that little warm-up earlier, then I'm sorry—but I'm going to break that arrogant nose of yours. I'll tell you the truth: I can control my battle power freely too, just like you."
As he spoke, he raised a hand and instantly fired a massive purple shockwave. Goku leapt away at once. He could feel it—this shockwave was far stronger than anything Jeice and the others could do. If he didn't dodge, it might cost him half his life.
The shockwave tore past beneath him. The ground within a radius of more than ten meters was ripped up and flung into the air. Amid the ear-splitting roar, the shockwave detonated violently in the distant mountains. The gusting force swept over, uprooting nearby trees by the roots. The oval-shaped sphere of light from the blast expanded gradually, and the tremors were so intense it felt like the entire sky was about to collapse.
Only after a long while did the blast wave finally settle. Goku dropped from the sky and chose to brawl with Ginyu head-on. This time, he raised his battle power, and he could completely suppress Ginyu. In the end, he kicked Ginyu into the nearby lake, killing!
However, Ginyu quickly burst out of the lake, like a whale breaching the surface. The entire lake churned and surged. He didn't attack Goku. Instead, he shot straight up into the sky, aiming to strike from above. But Goku was even faster—he rushed to a position above Ginyu's head. With that speed, Ginyu couldn't catch him at all. With no other choice, he used shockwaves to slow Goku down.
As Goku dodged the shockwaves, Ginyu immediately chased after him. The two clashed in the sky again. Under nonstop attacks and evasions, neither could land a hit, and they had to split apart once more.
Ginyu said slowly, "I know you've been holding back some strength, right? That's right—did you think I wouldn't notice? You're saving power so you can fight Lord Frieza, aren't you? Don't look down on me. I haven't met an opponent as evenly matched as you in a long time. My whole body is burning with fighting spirit."
Goku understood too—if they kept going like this, there would be no winner. If it dragged on, forget the Grand Elder's side—even Gohan could end up in danger. So he said, "Fine. Then just like you want… I'll use my true power."
Ginyu laughed. "That's more like it. Otherwise, if you die without bringing out your full strength, you won't be able to rest in peace."
Goku said slowly, "Then use that machine of yours that detects power and look carefully. Look closely at just how high my battle power really is."
Ginyu said without hesitation, "Even without looking, I know. Your battle power should be able to rise above eighty-five thousand."
