I was not surprised that Emily had the wrong idea about my disappearance because, of course, no one was going to know how everything turned out. The only person who cared to ask wasn't able to reach me because Donald had asked me to drop everything about myself and focus on becoming the woman who would give birth to his child.
"Cassie, I am so sorry that you have to go through all of that. What exactly happened between you and Andrew? I never expected the sudden clash," she said to me as she slowly stood up from her seat and walked around the table towards me, leaning on the table right beside me.
"Of course you wouldn't know, Emily; it's been there for a long time. I was only waiting for him to take that action because I saw it coming a long time ago, since I found out that I could not give him a child. He had blamed me every day for it, and I knew that it was only a matter of time before he reacted that way.
