Chapter 9 - Donald Valdosta's POV

"Donald, wait, I only wanted to..." She said and suddenly stopped.

I stared at her for a few seconds longer and slowly dropped her hand down, taking two steps away from her. "How many times do I have to warn you not to make such advances at me? "You know how much I hate it," I said to her, and this time the look on my face had changed. I was no longer trying to sound cool with her.

"Fine, I'm sorry. I really wanted to tell you how handsome you are," she said that as she rolled her eyes and looked away.

"I know I am, Vanessa; you do not have to remind me," I said to her immediately, and without waiting for her to speak, I turned around and walked towards the door.

I had already gotten into the car before she sluggishly began to walk out of the house. I was trying to control my temper and not drive away before she got to me, and I managed to put up with it, but just as she got into the seat next to the driver's seat, I zoomed off without looking at her face.

I dropped her by her house and was driving towards the suite where I was supposed to meet Alpha Mikel. My business assistant was trying to convince him to cancel the deal from his end, but he was not going to do it; hence, I needed to speak to him in person.

I had arranged a personal meeting at the suite because I did not want him in the mansion, and I did not want to go to his place either.

"I was almost beginning to think that you were not going to show. It is unlike you to be late. I mean, it's almost midnight, and if not for the fact that we are wolves, it would be an ungodly hour to meet," Alpha Mikel said to me as I walked into his suite.

"I had to deal with someone before coming here. I hope you didn't have to wait for too long?" I asked him as I helped myself to the single couch that was in the middle of the room with a small table in front of it.

"What is this about, Donald? "Why do we have to meet here and talk about a business deal when we could meet at our offices?" He asked me, holding up a glass of wine as he stared at me.

"We are meeting here because it is no longer business, Mikel; you and I know it is not. Why did you have to disguise yourself to sign the deal before letting us know it was truly your company signing it?" I asked him, staring directly at his face.

"If I did not know you better, I would say you were terrified of signing a business contract with my company. Why?" he asked me.

"I am not terrified, Mikel; I just do not trust you to make a good deal. Hide it all you want, but I know this is not about business with you, Mikel; it's personal," I said plainly, not missing words.

"How can you say that I would not make a good deal? "It was a fair deal; your staff confirmed it before the contract was signed. You cannot turn that around on me and accuse me of signing an illegal deal with your company," he said to me, but that was not what we were talking about.

"Snap out of it, Mikel? Why do you desperately need this deal with my company? We do not want it anymore; why can't you just forfeit it?" I asked him.

"Stop being a child. Don't you know you cannot just sign a deal and ask me to cancel it?" He responded.

"Should I quit being a child? I mean, Mikel, you are the one who had us sign a deal with you under a false identity. Do you really think I cannot charge your company for that and sue you for hiding your identity while signing a deal with us?" I asked him as I relaxed my back more on the couch, looking up at his face.

His expression was steady; he did not say a word; he was only staring at me.

"Mikel, I only came here so that we could talk about this as a family, but if you want to be stubborn with it, I promise you that I would spend everything to sue you for it," I said to him, and without waiting for him to respond, I stood up from the couch, adjusted my white silk shirt as I turned around, and began to walk towards the door.

"You have grown a lot, Donald; you really have, but there is something that surprises me," he said, making me stop moving as I stood there, with my back against him, waiting for him to speak.

"And what is that?" I asked him without turning around.

"It is how you think you could be the Lycan alpha of the entire pack in the city and then have a partner whom you feel like you can hide away from all of us," he said, and at that moment I turned around slowly to face him.

"I do not think I understand what you're talking about, Mikel," I said to him, pushing my two hands into my trouser pockets while staring at him steadily.

"What can I say, Donald? Maybe you would understand better when I call for an emergency meeting of all the alphas of the pack, and you would have to explain to us why you have a woman in your house and wouldn't tell the pack leaders about it," he said to me, and at that moment I chuckled.

He was a lot faster than I thought, and he really was into me because how else would he find out that I had Cassie in the mansion so quickly even when I had not told anyone about it?

"Mikel, why are you so interested in my affairs?" I asked him, taking some steps towards him.
