Chapter 11 - Donald Valdosta's POV

I could feel their stares on me as if they were actually touching me, and as I turned my gaze completely to Mikel, who stood over there before the table staring at me, I knew I needed to give a quick response before the alphas began to get a different idea.

"Before I respond to that question," I said, moving my gaze to the other alphas who were seated around the table, "I would like to know if you all share the same curiosity as Mikel," I asked them, staring at them for a little bit longer before slowly moving my gaze back to Mikel.

There was a brief silence in the hall before Alpha Jamiel, who was always acting as the representative of all of the Alphas put together whenever they were to address me, slowly stood up.

"That aspect of this conversation was not made known to us before now, and right now I would not be saying the truth if I said that I am not also curious to hear what your response would be to that question from Mikel," he said to me, and slowly I turned my gaze to him before giving him a slow nod.

"Fine, I am going to answer this question, but after I do, I'll tell you all a piece of my mind." The woman in my custody is a wolf, and you all know I hate the feminine nature, but you are the ones who keep suggesting that I get an heir as a Lycan King to make my claim to the throne complete, which is the reason I have her. I, however, never expected that you all were going to gather together and call me up for an emergency interrogation concerning my romantic affairs." I ended the statement in a cold tone, moving my case from Mikel to the rest of the alphas slowly, and I could see the expression on their faces begin to change instantly.

No one said a word; even Mikel slowly sat back in his seat, while alpha Jamiel, who was already seated, slowly began to get up again.

"I cannot express how sorry we are, Alpha. We were only shocked when we heard that you've had a female in your mansion and you're keeping it a secret from all of the packs." He said to me, and in that instance I flashed him an angry look.

"You got information that I had a female in my mansion, so you decided to call for an emergency gathering to which you invited me in the middle of a busy day?" I asked him as I slowly began to take some steps towards the table.

The whole time I was addressing them, standing some steps away from the door, but now I was coming closer, and I could see the way they kept adjusting on their seats.

"My apologies, Lycan Alpha; this was not intended to upset you," he said to me. However, this issue was not between us; it was between me and Mikel.

I acted like I was not aware, but I knew very well that Mikel arranged for all of this, and he was only using the council of alphas to reach me and break me.

"You said you heard that I had the intention of keeping her away from the packs. I would like to know your source, and give it to me in two words," I said to Jameel as I took most times closer to him, standing face to face with him.

He hesitated for a second before turning in the direction of Mikel and then back to me almost immediately.

"Alpha Mikel, he was the one who gave us the information," he said slowly, and I nodded my head as I instantly demanded that the meeting be ended.

"Everyone else may leave except Mikel; I would like to have some words with you," I said to Mikel as I sat there on the edge of the table staring at him while the other Alphas began to walk out of the hall.

Mikel sat there on his chair in silence, and just as the last alpha stepped out of the door and closed it behind himself, I heard his mockery words behind me.

"Do you really think you can fool me like the way you fool the other Alphas?" He asked me, but instead of responding, I pulled out the seat from the table and sat on it slowly, staring at him.

"You had the alphas call an emergency gathering and invited me for interrogation because you think my partner is human?" I asked him directly.

I expected that he was going to respond to me, but he was rather silent as he stared at me with a kind of expression on his face I could not read.

"I am talking to you, Mikel; you don't keep silent on your Alpha," I said to him.

"Donald, I know you are hiding something away from us; you do not want us to know the truth. It is unlikely to bring a female close to yourself, and the only one that managed to force herself into your uncomfortable presence has been Venessa, whom we all know to be nothing to you. Why all of a sudden this one, and why would you not bring her to the pack?" He asked me, standing up before me briskly as if he was going to attack me, but I smiled in response.

"It is really good to see that my life keeps troubling you, Mikel. "You've made it your duty to pry into my affairs. I just hope you can keep up with the troubles," I said to him in a low voice before standing up slowly from the seat as I adjusted my suit jacket and walked away.

"Where do we go now?" Taylor asked immediately. I got into the car.

"Just drive," I responded, my eyebrow narrowed. My eyes felt heavy. I could not tell why, but I just did not feel alright at the moment.

"Are you alright, boss?" He asked me, but his words sounded more distant than I could hear.

"What?" I asked him in a low voice.
