Maverick, who was watching my distress, stood up instantly towering me.. dang, he's built like a goddamn skyscraper. Anyway, he walked over to the glass window and looked outside without saying anything. Then he slowly walked towards the front door, opening it.. what was his guy thinking? There were a bunch of zombies outside, and he had no gear or protection..
Perry's pov:
After Rexine left, I was silent. But we all ended up chasing after her, when she rushed out, trying to follow Rexine out. We all started running after Ruby, as for Ruby she didn't even care looking back. It was painful to watch her be hurt like she was. The worst part of it all was that if Rexine came back and apologized she would trust her immediately. Me, Christian and Nicole chased after Ruby, as she was running straight into a crowd of zombies. But out of nowhere, she made a turn. I followed behind her, but didn't see Nicole or Christian turn. But, I couldn't turn back now. Plus, leaving Ruby alone was a big risk, especially with her in her state. But Ruby stopped in her tracks when she realized that she was surrounded by zombies. She turned back to me, walking back.
She looked at me, and then behind me. Then, she took my hand and ran to a small janitor's closet. I immediately noticed how small it was, starting to sweat. I instantly wanted to back out, but knew I'd end up dead. It felt almost suffocating, I bit my nails anxiously...
Ruby looked around and then at me. She whispered something that I couldn't make out and she left. She left me. Alone. I couldn't even focus on anything other than the fact I wanted to leave.. I melted on the ground, slipping down. I sat as my leg shook vigorously.
Christians pov:
Me and Nicole were running, trying to follow and see if we could find the shit head and Ruby. Me and Nicole kept running, in the direction we last saw them. We stopped, after we saw a flash of Ruby running in the opposite direction. I looked at Nicole as he looked back to confirm. We then both started running after Ruby.
I took the risk, calling after her. "Ruby!!" I yelled. Ruby immediately stopped and turned around. She ran to us, and started speaking.
"Hurry, this way.. I left Perry in a damn small janitor's closet.." Ruby said. My eyes widened. She left Perry ALONE? In a SMALL janitors closet? I started panicking. But then, I remembered seeing it earlier. I took off, running in the direction where it was. Perry was claustrophobic, and most of the time it got REALLY bad. I heard the other two run after me. I spotted the closet, and opened it immediately.
I walked to her, seeing her on the ground covering her ears and leg shaking. I took one of her hands, but she still didn't look at me. I pulled her up, so she stood up. I placed a hand on her shoulder and then she finally glanced at me. To my surprise, she stepped closer and shoved her head into my shoulder. I could feel Ruby and Nicole's stare from behind as they closed the door behind them, as we all surprisingly fit into the closet spaciously.
I sighed, not pulling back. I looked away, heat rising to my cheeks. I placed a hand on top of her head nonetheless, as I could hear her breathing calm down a little. I glared at Nicole and Ruby who were snickering intensely.
A moment later, the shit head looked at me, her ears flushed a bit. I stepped back, giving space between us. Then, Nicole spoke up, breaking the thick silence.
"We should get out of here.. and fast." He suggested. We all agreed with him. He opened the door as it creaked slightly. He looked both ways and went out. Then Ruby, and I walked behind Perry so she could go first, and then I left behind her.
Perry's pov:
We made a run for it, running in the opposite direction of where the zombies were. I followed behind both Nicole and Ruby, Christian behind me. I ran as fast as I could behind them, but Christian stopped me.. I mean, he bumped into me when he was looking back. His head hit the back of my shoulder.
"SHITTY HAIR, LOOK WHERE YOU'RE FREAKING GOING!!" I yelled to him, picking up my pace. I could see the annoyance on his face, but he didn't say anything.
We ran across a long hallway, and when I turned I saw the exit, and Nicole waiting for us to catch up, Ruby beside him panting. I ran UpTo them, making it out, immediately leaning on the wall. It felt like my legs were going to give out completely. I panted as I leaned against the wall.
Me and the others managed to catch our breath and walk to the van. All while walking, Ruby seemed to be staring into a nearby gas station, spaced out. I, concerned, spoke up to her.
"You alright, Ruby?" I asked. She turned to me, and gave her signature sweet smile.
"Yeah... I'm fine." She replied in an almost uncertain tone. I sighed, just cutting her some slack even if she wasn't fine. I mean.. who can be, in this situation?
We made it to the van, and out of everyone, Nicole stepped up to drive. I gave him a small smile as I entered. When everyone was in the van, Ruby sat in the passenger seat. Me and Christian sat across each other on the seat at the sides.
I looked at him. He had flushed ears and slightly flushed cheeks.. and I assume it was from the intense running. His shirt had blood splatters, and he looked.. exhausted. Half lidded eyes probably from fatigue. His hair? Messy. I hadn't realized I was staring until Christian turned to me, glaring slightly. I looked away, turning to the window.
When I leaned back, I realized my shoulder was hurting. I placed a hand down, and realized that's where Christians face hit me. I rolled my eyes, sighing.
"Damn you.." I spoke to Christian in a low mumble.
"Sorry? Damn who?" He replied, looking straight at me.
"You, asshole." I replied. "If it weren't for you bumping into me, my shoulder wouldn't be hurting." I stated. He scoffed irritatedly.
"Well it's not my fault you were running slow. Infact I almost tripped on you." He commented. I crossed my arms.. holding back a subtle smile.
"Oh please, you weren't even watching where you were going." I replied to him, making eye contact. He rolled his eyes.
"Well if you had run faster, I wouldn't have bumped into you." He replied in a sarcastic mocking tone.
Before I could reply, Ruby shouted to us from the front seat. "Oh you guys, shut it would you? We're all tired here. Perry, run faster next time, Christiam use the eyes god has given you next time, Seriously.." Ruby snapped at us, not angrily but irritated. We both immediately shut up.
"Someone's cranky.." Christian mumbled low enough so that Ruby didn't hear.
I sighed, looking back out the window.. Nicole started the van, and he started driving. Don't know where, but I couldn't care less.. I wanted to get some rest. Ruby and Nicole had their cuddly sleeping time, and now it's time for mine.. just without the cuddly part.
