Chapter 24 - Home

Whoosh!

The sound of Veal's tails moving at extreme speeds echoed out as he re-engraved the summoning circle that took him to the Saint World, at the same spot beneath the cemetery.

"Oh, Abyss, your son calls out to you. Please open your arms, so I may return to your embrace," he chanted repeatedly in a serious tone.

A few seconds later, the bloody pentagon started shimmering with a vile aura stained with madness and death. Then, akin to a beast opening its jaws, the Pentagon split open, revealing a dark, bottomless pit.

And without hesitation, his tail coiled around the waist of Alexandra, who was standing behind him. His body then started blazing with a demonic aura that flowed into his tail, then engulfed her, masking her human nature.

The journey would be safer for her if the Abyss were to think of her as one of its own.
Sensing his aura, the world raged, sending down its suppression like an enraged God, it cuffed a greater portion of his strength.

He ignored it.

"Close your eyes and don't open them until I tell you to," he said as he glanced at her.

"Yes, Master." She nodded, after which she closed her eyes tightly and gripped his tail.
He then wrapped his hands around her waist, burying her head in his chest. He took a single step forward, stepping into the bottomless pit.

The next moment, his vision shifted, and he was back in the space of eternal darkness, only illuminated by the glow of bronze stars sparkling all around.

The next moment, he lost all perception, and when he came to, he was standing where it all began.

The Abyss.

Standing at the center of the pentagon that took him to the saint world.

Alexandra was still within his embrace.

His eyes immediately darted around as he scanned the surroundings. There was no creature in sight, and the pillars of light were nowhere to be seen.
He then released Alexandra from his embrace and told her to open her eyes.
She did, while also taking a deep breath,

The worst thing she could've ever done.

For the moment she did, her eyes bulged, not because of what she saw, no, but what she smelled. A stench so foul and unbearable it threatened to collapse her lungs.
She fell to her knees, grabbed her throat with both hands, and coughed explosively,

Cough! Cough! Cough!

With slimy mucus splattering with each cough. Soon her lungs were empty, but she still had to breathe. She gazed at her master for help, but he ignored her, turning his back and spreading out his hands.

Her brain turned. A second later, her eyes flashed, and she began taking short, tiny baby breaths, as if sipping a hot cup of tea.

Sip! Sip!

It worked. A tiny bit of air entered her lungs, still terrible, but tolerable. And right when she was about to rejoice, something else smashed into her, pushing her once more to the gates of fatality.

Veal's demonic aura that had cloaked her vanished, leaving her naked and exposed to the Abyssal essence encompassing all of the Abyss.

It swarmed her with greed and penetrated all her pores, sinking into the fibers of her being. Its aim, to stain her, to brand her demonic.

"Aaaahhh!"

She wailed, her voice laced with pain, and she fell onto her back. All the veins in her body bulged, her eyes rolled, and she scratched her face with madness.

While that was happening, Veal stood with arms spread wide, head tilted toward the crimson sun, eyes closed, chest rising and falling as he took deep breaths.

'This feeling, this warmth. Free and unbound... Home.'

He thought, feeling the comfort of home and his strength coursing through him freely, with no limitation.

He clenched his fists. As he did, one of his tails started pulsating, then blurred as it whipped the sand six meters before him, and,

Boom!

The sand exploded into the air, leaving behind a crater that stretched 25 meters wide and 10 meters deep.

'Not bad. Not bad at all,' he thought as he licked his lips.
An understatement, considering his attack was almost equivalent to a Vital Rank demon's.
As long as he played his cards right, he could definitely defeat a newly advanced Vital demon.

As for killing one, that would be hard to say because the regenerative ability of such a demon was terrifying. Regrowing limbs and organs in less than an hour was the norm.

As to why he ignored his mate, it was because the suffering she was experiencing was an inescapable fate for weak creatures that wanted to make the Abyss their home.
And it was also a test.

A test of her will.

If she, no, after she survived this, her mind would be firm like a mountain, her will indomitable.

For only with a will such as that could she thrive within his home. Which was the hell of Hells.

Soon, her screams silenced.

Veal turned around and gazed at her figure as she stood shaking, her feet giving way multiple times before she finally stood.

She took deep breaths, her chest moving up and down, the Abyssal air filling her lungs, and there was no discomfort.

Her lungs, along with her entire body, had become accustomed to the abyss.
She gazed at her hands, opening and closing them. She felt renewed. Reborn into something part Abyssal.

Veal grinned slightly as he took in her body. Her height had increased from 1.5 meters to 1.8 meters. Her skin and hair had become a shade whiter, and her breasts and behind had also grown a bit.

Now she was akin to a seductive demoness forged from the coldest glaciers that sleep on the dark side of the moon that stands in the night sky of the Abyss.

He wanted to take her right there and then. But he suppressed those thoughts. He was no longer in a place where he could do anything he wanted.

Here, he had to be mindful.

"Follow," he said as he blurred toward the direction of the Outer Demon Cradle.

Whoosh!

Alexandra, in the process of getting accustomed to her new body, frowned as she heard his command and felt his presence vanish.

The absence of his tail wrapped around her caused a feeling of hollowness to bloom in her heart. She gritted her teeth and launched herself in the direction he went,

Whoosh!

Her eyes opened wide as she blurred, moving at speeds she once only dreamed of, 100 meters per second.

She smiled with happiness.

'The stronger I become, the higher the chance my he won't abandon me,' she thought, before,

Bam!

She tripped and fell, creating a long skid in the blood sand. She got up immediately, brushed the sand from her body, and it was at that moment that she noticed her nakedness.

She ignored it and took off once again.
