Chapter 16 - Copied Technique (Bonus Chapter)

Now it was time for Aiden to examine the most intriguing part of his rewards.

[Copied Technique → A wind magic technique that causes a gale of wind]

[The strength of this magic technique is at D rank]

"There's no mistaking it, this is his magic," Aiden thought to himself, then turned toward Tam for a second.

Tam, who had been staring at Aiden the whole time, immediately turned his head away and tried to pretend like he hadn't been watching.

Aiden scoffed slightly and smiled. He knew Tam had been looking at him the entire time, especially since after the dungeon closed, and he knew exactly why. "Trust me my friend, I'm still shocked I have powers like this."

Then it was time to address the stat points he had been gaining as he felt the need to finally give them some attention. It wasn't hard for him to grasp the concept behind it either.

His body's strength, speed, and endurance, alongside his mind's intelligence, had been converted into numbers. These new stat points he gained would go a long way toward improving them further.

His Intelligence stat was the most intriguing for him. He probably owed how quickly he was grasping the system's mechanics, assimilating information, and applying those mechanics to battle all to this very stat.

Thinking of his stat points also made the system respond by displaying them on a different screen.

[Stats Points Available: 10]

With his thoughts, he made his full status window appear. After taking a careful look at his stats, he assigned 4 points to his Intelligence stat, 3 points to his Strength stat, 2 points to his Agility stat, and 1 point to his Endurance stat.

[Dragon Curse Meter]: 0.11

He had about 3,950 experience points in total, which he knew was way more than enough to advance to the next hatchling level.

He also noticed one more thing. "That Dragon Curse meter has gone up," he thought to himself. Well, he had used the Dragon Sight skill during the dungeon raid, and that counted as dragon power usage.

However, at that moment, the horse stopped and Alaric's voice called out to the party, drawing his attention. "Right lads, we're back now, let's get us reward." There was a grin on his face as he said this.

Aiden then realized he had spent their entire ride back working through his progress on the system.

Soon after, the party had arrived back in the village. They made their way toward the town hall where the chief sat outside. When the old man saw them approaching, his eyes widened with shock. "One party finally did it?" he said to himself in disbelief.

They eventually arrived before him and dismounted their horses. Alaric approached the man with that grin still on his face.

"Ey old lass, we've done it. Yer dungeon trouble's gone," Alaric announced.

"Truly, the dungeon is gone?" the old man asked again. It was truly marvelous, a dungeon that had taken seventeen whole parties before it was finally cleared.

"Hey, geezer, do we not smell like dungeon puke enough?" Ingrid called out from her position behind Alaric. Her irritation came mainly from still smelling terrible.

She walked up in front of Alaric, dug her hand inside her bag, and pulled out a destroyed limb part still dripping with goo. Then she moved that hand toward the old man. "See? It's done."

The old man used his free hand to fan and wave over his nose in an attempt to disperse the putrid smell coming from it. However, he was certain now after seeing the destroyed part that the dungeon had truly been taken care of.

"Don't mind pretty Ingrid's manner. Now sling us the gold an' we'll be off on our jolly way," Alaric said.

Ingrid grunted and moved backward.

"Oh no, no, please come with me," the old man said. "The town would like to thank you properly. We have food for every one of you and your horses. You can also wash yourselves while you're at it."

Alaric turned toward his party, and they all seemed to agree that they wanted to stay a bit before continuing on their way to Xathia.

Alaric turned back toward the old man and asked, "Hot baths?"

The old man smiled and began walking as he beckoned them to come with him.
