Chapter 35: Battle of the Monsters
Hearing the voice, Lin Yun turned and looked at Mu En, who wore a kindly smile.
"I am a little interested. Aren't you also watching with great enjoyment, senior?" Lin Yun nodded and countered with a question of his own.
"I'm no senior. Just an old man who likes sunbathing and watching lively scenes," Mu En replied with a smile, shaking his head.
'I believe you—like hell I do. You sly old fox!' Lin Yun silently complained.
"If it were someone else, maybe they'd fall for that act. But ordinary elders don't carry that kind of intense dragon pressure," Lin Yun muttered with a curl of his lip, then fell silent.
Mu En, on the other hand, gave Lin Yun a surprised look.
After returning to Sea God Island the previous day, Mu En had immediately summoned Yan Shaozhe and ordered him to retrieve Lin Yun's registration file.
The moment they saw Lin Yun's form, even Yan Shaozhe's eyes turned red.
The Progenitor of Power—Golden Dragon!
An ultimate martial soul!
If Mu En hadn't strictly forbidden it, Yan Shaozhe would've dragged Lin Yun out of bed that very night, pressed a soul bone to his throat, and forced him into the Martial Soul Department.
But judging from what he was seeing now, the quality of Lin Yun's Golden Dragon martial soul might even exceed his expectations—it could detect the aura Mu En had deliberately suppressed as a Limit Douluo.
Still, Mu En had no time to dwell on it—because the show was already underway.
The battle of monsters!
The Child of the Plane, Huo-hanger, versus the Daughter of the Buddha, Wang Dong!
After exchanging threats, Wang Dong made the first move. Twisting her waist, she sent a whip-like kick flying toward Huo Yuhao with her long, slender leg.
Huo Yuhao instantly activated Spiritual Detection and barely managed to duck under the blow. The gust from the kick rustled his hair and made his scalp tingle.
He couldn't match her strength!
With just one move, Huo-hanger saw the stark gap between himself and this disguised monster.
Years of malnutrition had left him with some of the weakest physical attributes among all the new students. There was no way he could win in a frontal clash with Wang Dong, a young master raised on rare treasures since childhood.
If he took that kick head-on, he'd probably be flattened in one hit.
But it wasn't a big problem.
The opponent's a monster? So am I!
If both sides are cheating, then mathematically it cancels out—meaning it's an even match. And in an even match, I have the advantage!
Let's go—bring it on!
"Spiritual Detection!" A flash of light crossed Huo Yuhao's eyes. Wang Dong's high-speed movements suddenly slowed in his vision. Through the scanning of Spiritual Detection, he could even anticipate Wang Dong's next move by analyzing the tension in her muscles.
Every attack from Wang Dong was dodged by Huo Yuhao in the nick of time. What looked like narrow escapes were all fully anticipated by his mental detection.
But Wang Dong could make countless mistakes. Huo Yuhao could afford only one.
As time passed, the limitations of Huo Yuhao's frail body began to show. Dodging while also sustaining Spiritual Detection taxed him heavily. Sweat began to bead on his forehead, and his movements gradually slowed.
Seeing this, Wang Dong launched another fierce strike, mercilessly sweeping a long leg toward him.
This time, Huo Yuhao couldn't dodge.
Realizing he couldn't evade, Huo Yuhao gritted his teeth, stepped back slightly to avoid the strongest part of the blow, and, seizing the moment when Wang Dong's old force had faded but new force hadn't formed, crossed his arms in front of his chest to brace for impact.
Even with all his planning, the force of the strike still far exceeded his expectations.
Or rather—he had overestimated his own body.
According to Huo Yuhao's calculations, he should've been able to block Wang Dong's kick. Even if it hurt, he believed he could at least hold off that leg.
But reality proved otherwise.
He was kicked straight off his feet, tumbling across the ground like a ragdoll. His internal organs felt as though they were on fire, and the friction during the roll left several cuts and abrasions on his body.
Yet the scent of blood didn't frighten Huo Yuhao—it only made him more hysterical.
'Why…'
'Why?! Why is everyone always trying to bully me?! Why is there malice everywhere I go?!'
Wang Dong had no idea that Huo Yuhao was on the verge of snapping. Seizing the momentum, he leapt high into the air. One leg rose over his head before slicing downward like an axe, whistling through the wind with terrifying force.
But just as the kick was about to land on Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong pulled back slightly.
Through their earlier exchanges, he had realized that while Huo Yuhao was slippery and had dodged most of his attacks, his physical condition was pitiful.
If he struck with full strength, Huo Yuhao would likely suffer multiple fractures.
Wang Dong might be arrogant, but he wasn't truly cruel. He couldn't bring himself to cripple someone he'd only just met. By softening the blow, he figured the worst that would happen was Huo Yuhao getting tossed around a little more.
Compared to broken bones, a few scrapes were merciful.
But just then, Huo Yuhao suddenly lifted his head. His eyes, bloodshot with fury and resentment, glared upward. A faint purple glow shimmered within his pupils.
Purple Demon Eyes: Spiritual Shock!
Driven by a near-maddened rage, Huo Yuhao instantly drained every last drop of spiritual power from his sea of consciousness and fired a Spiritual Shock straight at Wang Dong's forehead.
Wang Dong's head jerked violently as a surge of dizziness slammed into his brain, nearly splitting his skull open. His attack faltered mid-air.
Huo Yuhao seized the opening.
He charged forward, shoulder slamming into Wang Dong's raised leg. While Wang Dong was still disoriented, Huo Yuhao tackled him to the ground and locked his limbs around him with everything he had.
"Excellent," Lin Yun commented, nodding as he watched the entire exchange.
To someone like Lin Yun, this level of fighting wasn't much different from kids squabbling—but given how little actual combat experience he had, watching these two go at it was still quite entertaining.
Mu En also chuckled and nodded in agreement.
What youth isn't full of fire? To Mu En, the conflict between Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong was exactly the kind of thing hot-headed teenagers would do.
Fight first, become friends later. The old man firmly believed these two would end up good companions someday.
"You lost!" Huo Yuhao shouted, locking Wang Dong in a tight grapple. He panted heavily, his breath hot against Wang Dong's face. Wang Dong was just beginning to recover from the dizziness.
"!"
