Chapter 34: Conflict
"What if I don't do as you say?"
"Then I'll beat you out of here!"
…
While cultivating, Lin Yun slowly opened his eyes as he heard the ruckus coming from next door, a strange smile tugging at his lips.
Here it comes—the first battle that will make Huo-hanger's name known!
If not now, when was the perfect time to go enjoy the show?
As soon as he opened his door, Lin Yun saw a furious Huo-hanger and a puffed-up goose-like figure storming off to settle things outside.
Time rewinds to a few minutes earlier—
With his mind heavy, Huo-hanger arrived at Dorm 108, only to find the door already open. He walked in and immediately saw someone with shoulder-length pink-blue hair, so handsome he could almost be called beautiful, sitting atop a bedboard.
That boy, Wang Dong, seemed a bit of a clean freak and had even laid down a blanket before sitting.
He had actually arrived at the academy the previous day but had turned and left right after seeing how filthy the room was. He stayed in a hotel in Shrek City for the night and had just now returned to the dorm.
When Huo Yuhao entered, Wang Dong looked at him with a proud, arrogant expression, his tone carrying a condescending air.
"So you're my roommate? Fine, since the academy arranged it, I'll reluctantly let you stay with me—but you'll follow these rules."
"First, clean the room. Second, all dorm cleaning is your responsibility from now on. Third, don't bring anyone else here without my permission. Fourth, no walking around shirtless in the dorm. Fifth, don't touch my things."
"That's all for now. I'll add more later if needed."
Huo Yuhao instantly exploded.
He had grown up under constant bullying in the Duke's Mansion and had an extraordinarily fierce sense of pride. After arriving at Shrek, he had already vowed that no one would ever bully him again.
Yet before even stepping into a classroom, he was already being pushed around in his dorm?
Thus began the exchange that Lin Yun had overheard.
"What if I don't do what you say?" Huo Yuhao asked through gritted teeth, his eyes blazing with fury.
Wang Dong was briefly startled by the intensity of his glare, but upon seeing the faded, worn-out clothes Huo Yuhao wore, his gaze turned scornful again. "If you don't, I'll beat you out of here. Try me if you dare!"
"Try it, then. Let's go outside." Huo Yuhao dropped his bag and led the way to the door.
Fighting was prohibited in the dormitory building, and any damaged property had to be compensated.
And the prices…
A wooden table could cost as much as a gold-inlaid, diamond-encrusted treasure. Completely absurd.
Other school rules, Huo Yuhao might not have learned yet, but anything related to money? He had those memorized by heart.
Because he couldn't afford it!
"Outside then, let's go, idiot! Starting tomorrow, there won't be a place for you in Shrek Academy!" Wang Dong sneered, following him out the door.
And then…
They both saw the dorm across from theirs open, and out stepped a young man with shoulder-length golden hair, flawless sculpted features, and piercing golden eyes filled with authority.
The most striking thing of all—he was tall!
Huo Yuhao, due to years of malnutrition and being only twelve, wasn't even 1.7 meters tall.
Wang Dong, though developing normally, was ultimately a girl in disguise. She had only just passed 1.7 meters herself.
But Lin Yun—he stood at 1.8 meters!
Those golden eyes, carrying an air of judgment, coupled with his towering height, made both Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong freeze on the spot. For a moment, they didn't even dare to move.
Lin Yun was a little surprised. It made sense for ordinary people to be intimidated by his dragon aura—but even Wang Dong, the daughter of Tang Buddha himself, was affected?
It could only be said that Lin Yun had underestimated the commanding aura he had developed while living among soul beasts. Whether in the Star Dou Great Forest or the Extreme North, he held life-and-death authority as their ruler. Though it had only been three years, the presence of a king among beasts was already beginning to show.
Having grown used to interacting with Di Tian, Lin Yun didn't need to act intimidating—the pressure was something no ten-year-old could ignore.
Seeing the two protagonists too stunned to move, Lin Yun's mouth twitched slightly. Without a word, he casually shut his door behind him and walked out first.
He was afraid that if he didn't leave now, those two wouldn't fight at all.
Only after Lin Yun disappeared at the end of the corridor did Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong simultaneously let out a long sigh of relief.
Huo Yuhao glanced sideways at Wang Dong, his gaze strange, and mocked, "I thought you were something special. Turns out you get scared too? Only know how to act tough in front of a pushover like me?"
"Bullshit! Who's scared? This young master wasn't scared of that guy at all!" Wang Dong snapped in anger, his voice sharp, "Let's go—right now! This young master will show you what I'm made of!"
Thump, thump, thump…
Stung by Huo Yuhao's jab, Wang Dong stomped heavily out the door, not even glancing back.
Though he didn't want to admit it, Wang Dong had indeed felt a hard-to-describe sense of fear when locking eyes with Lin Yun. And now that this subtle feeling had been exposed by Huo Yuhao—the very person he had looked down on—how could he not be furious?
Huo Yuhao followed after Wang Dong, though he no longer felt as angry as before. His thoughts kept drifting back to that brief, astonishing moment.
That person had reminded him of the conversation with Bei Bei and Tang Ya—the new student who reportedly had thirty-seven soul power and possessed the so-called ultimate attribute, the Golden Dragon martial soul.
Huo Yuhao had been skeptical before. But after seeing Lin Yun just once, he no longer doubted it.
That natural and overwhelming aura of authority couldn't possibly be faked.
However, Huo Yuhao soon set those thoughts aside. No matter how strong others were, they were still someone else. He had his own immediate problem to handle. Even if Wang Dong had been suppressed by Lin Yun, Huo Yuhao didn't believe his new roommate was actually weak.
Compared to one hundred, ten may seem small—but ten compared to one? That was a massive leap.
Huo Yuhao was that one. At his current level, he had no right to look down on anyone.
"Idiot. You still have time to regret this."
Just as Huo Yuhao stepped outside, he was greeted by Wang Dong standing across from him, arms crossed, face filled with arrogant disdain.
That one line instantly reignited Huo Yuhao's irritation.
"Enough nonsense. If we're fighting, let's fight," he said coldly.
Meanwhile—
Leaning casually against a nearby wall, Lin Yun watched the confrontation between the two future monsters with amused interest.
"Hehe, little one, you seem quite interested in their conflict, don't you?" An aged, raspy laugh echoed in Lin Yun's ear.
It was Mu En.
