Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Who Let the Dog Bark?

Chapter 38: Who Let the Dog Bark?

After entering the classroom, Lin Yun walked straight to the last row and sat by the window without hesitation.

The king's throne—only the king may sit upon it.

Xiao Xiao followed and sat beside him. For some reason, this little loli gave off the vibe of someone who had decided to stick to him for good.

Lin Yun didn't mind. If she wanted to sit there, so be it. He rested his head on his hand and gazed out the window in quiet comfort. But while he was relaxed, the rest of the class erupted with whispers from all directions.

"Hey, look at that guy!" a boy nudged his friend, discreetly pointing toward Lin Yun at the back.

The friend turned with a puzzled look, only to see the strikingly conspicuous Lin Yun.

"What? Is he famous or something?" the boy asked, chuckling.

"You idiot. You signed up late, so you didn't run into him. I saw it with my own eyes! He's the guy who made everyone step aside during registration!" the first boy lowered his voice further, lips curling slightly.

"I bet he's the strongest among all the new students this year."

Apparently, he was one of those who had instinctively made way for Lin Yun during registration. Since then, the stir caused by Lin Yun hadn't quieted down—in fact, it had only grown.

Soul masters revered strength. The stronger someone was, the more admiration they earned. As the center of attention among the freshmen, Lin Yun wasn't just famous among first-years—even the upperclassmen knew his name.

Some had even given him the title: Strongest Newcomer King.

"He's the Strongest Newcomer King?!" the friend's eyes widened, staring at Lin Yun's lazy yet commanding presence with awe.

"He's in our class?!"

This type of conversation wasn't limited to just the two of them. In fact, many of the students placed in Class One had witnessed Lin Yun's aura firsthand during the registration.

If Lin Yun hadn't consciously restrained his draconic pressure afterward, it was likely that no one in class would have dared speak.

That invisible pressure was like a ten-thousand-year soul ring constantly emitting authority.

Lin Yun naturally heard the whispers. With his enhanced physique came not only power but also extraordinary sensitivity in all five senses.

But he didn't care. Fame could be useful. All he needed was to beat up a few weaklings to set an example—then no one at Shrek would dare provoke him.

He found those "weakling-picking-fights" scenarios deeply annoying.

Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong had also been assigned to Class One. But despite being roommates, one sat far left and the other far right—giving off the unmistakable vibe of strangers.

Though Huo Yuhao had technically won their fight, he was the only one who got injured. Wang Dong walked away without a scratch.

Afterwards, Huo Yuhao didn't rest. Wang Dong, with his young master's attitude, refused to clean, but Huo Yuhao—who preferred cleanliness—couldn't stand the mess and cleaned everything himself.

And during all this, Wang Dong didn't lift a finger.

This caused Huo Yuhao's impression of him to hit rock bottom. He hadn't spoken a word to Wang Dong since.

As for the proud Wang Dong, seeing Huo Yuhao ignore him, didn't bother forcing a connection either. That would've been beneath his dignity.

Amid the rising whispers and the eyes filled with awe and reverence aimed at Lin Yun, Huo Yuhao's heart brimmed with envy. He fantasized—if only those gazes were directed at him, how amazing that would feel.

If only he had Lin Yun's power and reputation, would Wang Dong still dare to bully him?

"I must become strong. Stronger!"

Click… click… click…

The crisp sound of high heels on tiles echoed from outside the door. Oddly enough, although it should have been faint, it rang clearly in the ears of every student in Class One.

The previously buzzing classroom gradually quieted.

Those who had read the bulletin naturally saw the name of their homeroom teacher—a name that was obviously a woman's.

Coupled with the crisp sound of high heels, some clueless male students had already begun fantasizing: could their teacher be a stunning beauty, full of grace and charm?

Only Lin Yun rested his cheek on his hand and let out a cold chuckle.

'That old hag is even using soul power to amplify her footsteps? She really knows how to put on a show!'

How could ordinary footsteps be heard so clearly by everyone in the room, especially in such a noisy environment? There was only one explanation—Zhou Yi had deliberately used soul power to spread the sound.

As the boys looked toward the door with anticipation, Zhou Yi's legs in high heels stepped into the classroom—followed closely by her mask-covered old lady face…

The expressions of the hopeful boys instantly turned green.

I actually had delusions… about this old woman?

That's not just immoral—it's downright wrong!

Zhou Yi ignored the green-faced boys and walked coldly to the podium. After reaching the blackboard, she wrote her name with sharp strokes.

"My name is Zhou Yi. I'm your homeroom teacher. I don't know how many of you will survive the coming year, but let me make one thing clear: I am here to cultivate absolute geniuses. Every single fool will be thrown out of Class One," she said coldly.

She had barely spoken, and already many students' faces changed.

What the hell did she mean by "fools"? They had all passed Shrek's entrance requirements—each one a genius soul master!

Xiao Xiao, seated beside Lin Yun, forced a smile uglier than a cry. She looked at him pitifully, as if to say—she never imagined the "perverted old hag" Lin Yun mentioned could actually be this extreme.

"Anyone who's gotten into a fight since registration, stand up," Zhou Yi's next words were like a boulder dropped into a pond, sending ripples through Class One.

Lin Yun watched her performance with great interest. His blood was starting to boil—he could already hear the imaginary cheers in the background!

As expected, Huo Yuhao stood up straightaway, blunt and honest.

On the opposite side, Wang Dong, seeing Huo Yuhao move, curled his lip and stood up as well, shooting him a competitive glare.

Zhou Yi swept her gaze around the room, her eyes pausing slightly longer on Lin Yun before a mocking smile crept onto her face. "Only two? What a bunch of weaklings. Don't you know that those who fear trouble are mediocrities? Everyone else—go run one hundred laps on the training field!"

Yes—exactly what he was waiting for!

Lin Yun narrowed his eyes. Then, with a mocking and lazy tone that exploded through the classroom like thunder, he spoke:

"Who the hell are you barking at?"
