Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Identity Confirmed

Chapter 5: Identity Confirmed

Constantly overthinking inside his spiritual sea wasn't going to help anything, so after exchanging a brief word with Electrolux, Lin Yun exited the spiritual space.

In the alternate dimension—

Gu Yuena was already standing before Lin Yun, her gaze soft and warm.

She had been watching him closely the entire time and naturally sensed the moment he awakened from his deep slumber. It was only that his spirit had been immersed in the spiritual sea and hadn't yet returned to his physical body.

Under Gu Yuena's expectant gaze, Lin Yun finally opened his eyes slowly, locking eyes with her amethyst-like pupils.

"You're awake!" Gu Yuena smiled sweetly.

Lin Yun froze completely. Just waking up and already taking a direct hit from overwhelming beauty—only heaven knew how much psychological damage this stunning woman had caused him.

"You're… Gu Yuena?" Lin Yun asked cautiously.

"So you remember me." Gu Yuena sighed, visibly disappointed. There went her chance of making her 'big brother' call her 'big sister.'

???

What are you even disappointed about?

Still, this all but confirmed Lin Yun's theory. The soul beast camp had indeed mistaken him for the Golden Dragon King. Somehow, he had become the leader of a major faction without lifting a finger.

With that in mind, Lin Yun immediately slipped into character. He lowered his gaze to Gu Yuena's chest.

Don't misunderstand—this wasn't lechery. He was making a calculated move.

"Looks like that mangy Asura left wounds on you that still haven't healed. So that's why you've remained in hiding," Lin Yun said, brow furrowed with concern.

Gu Yuena was completely stunned. After all, the injury she bore—besides Di Tian—no one else on the entire Douluo Continent even knew about. So how could someone recognize her identity and detect her wounds upon first glance?

Of course, Lin Yun had only guessed all this during his earlier conversation with Electrolux and from his own knowledge of the original plot.

Still, it left Lin Yun genuinely puzzled.

The Asura God was, at most, a God King. The Golden and Silver Dragon Kings were both avatars of the Dragon God, their strength equal to that same level.

How could a single strike from another being at the same level leave someone so badly wounded they'd end up hiding in some remote backwater for hundreds of thousands of years?

Is this even logical?

"It struck my origin," Gu Yuena replied with a bitter smile. "And the Douluo Continent has no immortal spiritual energy. Using the vitality of the Life Gold to slowly erode the Asura God's power is far too inefficient."

Lin Yun nodded thoughtfully.

That explanation made sense. The divine level marked a major threshold—power below and above that line existed on entirely different planes. Life Gold might have immense vitality, but it wasn't on the same level as the Goddess of Life. It was reasonable that it could only grind down divine power at a sluggish pace.

Most likely, the bulk of the Life Gold produced by the Lake of Life had been used to treat Gu Yuena's injuries.

And yet, she'd still been willing to part with a piece for his fusion. That stuff was meant for her own recovery.

"Thank you," Lin Yun said sincerely.

"There's no need. We are one and the same—there's no need for thanks," Gu Yuena replied with another gentle smile.

She knew exactly what Lin Yun was thanking her for—giving him a piece of Life Gold to aid his fusion.

But with the Golden Dragon King's essence within him, even if no one had intervened, the natural pressure of his dragon might would have been enough to keep soul beasts at a distance.

Devour him?

The Golden Dragon King's origin would've taught them the meaning of true royal dominance.

At most, not eating for three years might have sent his physical condition into steep decline, making recovery more resource-intensive afterward.

No matter what Gu Yuena truly thought, her words did warm Lin Yun's heart. Even if he was a fake, a complete impostor, he couldn't help but start to feel some fondness for this identity.

"Why did you choose to abandon your body and descend to the Douluo Continent during this time?" Gu Yuena asked curiously.

Lin Yun paused in thought, diving into mental overdrive.

This question couldn't be answered carelessly. If he got it right, he'd fully cement his identity as the Golden Dragon King. In the future, he could freely borrow the power of the Star Dou Great Forest—even directly command Di Tian and the other beast gods.

More importantly, he could easily obtain soul rings without having to hunt for them.

At worst, after taking care of Tang San in the future, he could help resurrect those sacrificed soul beasts. For the glory of their kind, they'd probably be more than willing to offer themselves.

And if they weren't… Di Tian would "help" them become willing.

After carefully arranging his words, Lin Yun began.

"I foresaw a catastrophic crisis looming over the Divine Realm. A spatial-temporal storm—strong enough to potentially destroy it entirely."

"I originally intended to remain dormant in the Forbidden Zone of the Gods, waiting for the chaos to arrive. When the gods of the Divine Realm would be too distracted to respond, I'd harness the force of that spatial storm to destroy the Divine Realm completely."

"?!" Gu Yuena's eyes flew wide open.

Holy—was her other half really this ruthless? While she was still trying to cling to life and recover from her injuries, he was already plotting the downfall of the gods?

Good thing—thank goodness—she hadn't devoured him.

Without him, her brainpower definitely wouldn't be enough for this kind of divine-level scheming. If he were gone, the burden of destroying the Divine Realm would've fallen squarely on her shoulders.

No wonder he represented the violent and conquering aspect of the Dragon God. The Golden Dragon King truly lived up to that name.

As avatars of the Dragon God… they were terrifying indeed.

"Then why did you abandon your body and reincarnate into the Douluo Continent?" Gu Yuena quickly asked.

"Because there's no time left," Lin Yun said gravely.

"Ten thousand years ago, the Asura God abdicated and chose an heir from the Douluo Continent. Together with the Sea God of the time, he passed down their divine positions to a man named Tang San, that wretched dog."

"That dog is not to be underestimated. The Divine Realm's law that gods may not interfere with the lower world—he treats it like trash. After ten thousand years of planning, almost the entire Douluo Continent has fallen under his control."

"He arranged for his parents to possess the plane's will and its source of life. And in response, the plane's consciousness, seeking to survive, selected a new chosen one—a child of destiny to save it. But even that child has already been taken in by Tang San."

"If his plan succeeds, he won't just rule the continent—he'll turn the Divine Realm into his personal playground."

"And when that day comes, even if the space-time storm arrives, I likely won't have the strength to fight back anymore."

Lin Yun's gaze turned sharp as he stared at Gu Yuena and asked, his voice like ice, sending chills down her spine, "Do you think, when that time comes—even if your wounds are healed—you'll have the power to make waves in his backyard?"

"I…" Gu Yuena's face filled with bitterness.
