Chapter 3 - The Power

The battlefield was quiet now.

The blackened sky crackled with leftover divine energy. The Resurrection God's light had faded. The Demon God's ruin had been sealed. Seth Chrono stood amidst the wreckage of two deities—one born of hellfire, the other of false salvation.

His crimson cloak fluttered in the wind, tattered and scorched, the same shade as the blood that ran down his cheeks.

He exhaled.

And the world shifted.

The air vibrated with an unseen force as glowing chains—thick as mountains and woven from raw conceptual energy—hovered around him like specters. Not metal. Not magic. These were Divine Chains, forged from the authority and essence of gods.

And now, they chose him.

"Chains...?" Seth whispered, blinking as they circled him, binding themselves not to his body, but to his very existence.

The system, which had been silent for so long, suddenly spoke—louder, clearer, deeper.

[ SYSTEM UPDATE COMPLETE ]

Two chains snapped into place on his soul.

One blazed with endless fire—The Chain of Ruin.

The other shimmered with pure white light—The Chain of Return.

Each crackled as it fused into his spirit.

[CHAIN OF RUIN: Demon God's Core]

[Passive: Soul Memory – No one can erase your thoughts, experiences, or past.]

[Active: Rebirth Loop – Once per day, resurrect from fatal injury or death.]

[Bonus: Partial authority over resurrection magic and souls.]

The power that surged into Seth wasn't painful.

It was clarity.

The divine essence didn't corrupt him—it simply became him.

He wasn't a god.

He wasn't a mortal.

He was the line between.

The system continued.

Luck [ERROR: Luck Overflow]

"Huh. My luck broke the system," Seth muttered. "That's either good or... terrifying."

A low chuckle escaped him.

He wasn't cold. Not empty like the gods. His power didn't hollow him out.

In fact, he felt more alive than ever before.

And then… they appeared.

Floating in the air before him were two daggers, forged from the crystallized heart of the Demon God. Crimson and curved, sleek yet jagged, they radiated a hunger that matched his.

"Red Moons…" Seth whispered, as he reached for them.

As his fingers wrapped around their hilts, the weapons responded with a pulse of recognition—soulbound. Permanent.

These were not swords of honor or justice. These were fangs—beautiful and deadly.

Twin soul-bound daggers

Cut both flesh and spirit

Inflict delayed, internal divine damage

Absorb divine essence upon kill

Become sharper as the user bleeds

Cannot be broken, stolen, or disarmed

He sheathed them into crimson slots that formed behind his back like part of his armor in his inventory. With each movement, they hummed softly—waiting.

And then came the final notification.

[ SYSTEM FUNCTIONS UNLOCKED ]

Divine Detection – All divine presences are now traceable.

Stat Concealment – Cannot be scanned by other gods, mortals, or systems.

Godslayer Path – You grow by killing divine beings. Each kill strengthens your Chains.

Divine Absorption – Essence absorbed from gods may evolve abilities or create new Chains.

Seth stood in silence, letting it all settle.

He had slain two gods.

And yet… he hadn't changed. Not where it mattered.

He still cracked jokes.

Still felt.

Still cared.

But when it came to gods… he had no mercy left.

They would all come for him now.

"Let them," he said, his voice calm. "I'm done being a pawn."

"It's time they learned what a real threat looks like."

The sky above him cracked again—another divine gaze peering through dimensions. Seth looked up and smirked.

"Come find me."
