Parking his car in front of his house, Lucas and Rosalie now stood together before it hand in hand.
After eating and spending some time talking with Cullen's, Lucas had decided to return home as he didn't feel entirely comfortable staying any longer their, while Rosalie, on the other hand, refused to leave his side and chose to come with him, a decision that secretly filled him with quiet joy.
"Welcome to my house, my love," Lucas said in a deliberately dramatic tone, bending slightly with one hand pressed against his chest as he opens the door for her.
Rosalie's lips curved into a soft smile at his gesture. "I appreciate the invitation, Luc," as she replied gently before stepping inside with a laughter like the faint chime of silver bells to which Lucas followed right behind her.
Later, they sat on the bed, Lucas back resting against the wall as Rosalie nestled her head and hand against his chest while Lucas held her around the waist.
"You're so warm," Rosalie whispered as she closed her eyes and listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, as though it was a music only she could hear.
"I'm so happy, Luc. So happy… that you didn't become a vampire," she murmured, happiness reflecting in her voice with her eyes still closed as she listened to his heartbeat.
Lucas tilted his head as a faint smile appeared on his lips. "Don't say it like that. It makes it sound as if being a vampire is something awful."He pressed his forehead gently against hers. "Besides… if you weren't a vampire, how else would I have met you?"
Rosalie's eyes softened. "You're right. If I hadn't been changed, I never would've had the chance to find you." Her voice grew quiet, filled with a mix of wonder and ache, as she thought back to their very first meeting, so ordinary on the surface, yet it had carved something eternal into her heart.
Lucas smiled at her words and gave a soft laugh, as her laughter soon joined his, echoing softly throughout the room. But as they talked, his eyelids began to grow heavy, not by physical exhaustion but a deep, mental fatigue that weighed on him through out his whole transformation. Rosalie noticed instantly as he started to close his eyes to which she stopped speaking and simply gazed at him with tenderness, choosing to let him rest.
As she was looking at him something extraordinary happened. As Lucas drifted into sleep, Rosalie, a vampire who had long believed that sleeping was forever beyond her reach felt her own body succumb to drowsiness. Her eyes fluttered shut, and for the very first time since her transformation, she began to dream.
What neither of them realized was that Lucas's aura, invisible yet radiant, had begun to wrap around her through the whole time when they are in touch.
The spirit of the sun carried warmth, life, and peace and resting against him, Rosalie body felt as though it was alive again, not truly human, but as close as it had ever been since her turning. And so, lulled by that divine radiance, her body starting to get realxed to the point wher she found her being asleep .
As they were sleeping while leaning against each other, it feels like a lover itself had painted a picture on a blank canvas in fantasy, two souls leaning into each other, asleep in perfect serenity.
---
Morning came.
Rosalie stirred first, her body still leaning against Lucas's, her hand still clasped with his as a small yawn escaped her lips.
"Mmm… that was such a nice sle—" Her voice cut off suddenly as a realization struck her, and her golden eyes widened in shock.
Vampires can't sleep… then how—?
Her mind raced, question rushing in as she whispered to herself, "How is this possible? How did I fall asleep? Vampires can't—"
The sound of her voice stirred Lucas as he blinked awake, confusion written across his face. Rosalie quickly silenced herself when she noticed her mistake, but in her heart a thought bloomed" Maybe it's Luc mysterious ability. Maybe he's the reason."as she looked at him with affection.
Her expression softened into a smile. "Good morning, Luc. And… I'm sorry if I disturbed your sleep," she said, her tone filled with both apology and warmth as she leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss against his lips.
The cool softness jolted Lucas fully awake as he knew that feeling all too well.
"Good morning, Rose," he murmured back with a smile, returning her affection by pressing a kiss to her cheek making his morning very good.
To which Rosalie forgot her earlier panic. For once, it didn't matter and decided to talk to him after sometime.
---
Later, after Lucas finished his morning routine with Rosalie doing the same, the two sat together on the sofa, still wrapped in each other's arms.
"This… this shouldn't be possible," Lucas whispered, his voice tinged with shock as he listened to her explaining him what had happened, how she had slept.
Lucas froze, just as stunned as she was when she found out. In his first life, he had researched about the vampires of Twilight when he has seen the movie and their was nowhere had he ever read of such a thing.
Driven by curiosity, he activated his Transparent World to which Rosalie gasped softly, the sensation was strange, as though her entire being lay open before him, every secret revealed as he looked at her. And then he saw it, that her body was surrounded by his aura, radiant like morning sunlight, carrying warmth, peace, and life to which Lucas shared his theory with her, watching her shock shift into uncontainable joy.
Happiness glimmered in her golden eyes as she listened to her, that near him she can sleep, as his aura will change according to what he is doing making the person near him feel the same.
To which Rosalie without warning, began showering his face with kisses, over and over, whispering between each one, "I love you. I love you. I love you…"
Lucas chuckled softly, holding her close, his heart swelling as the words wrapped around him like the very aura he had unknowingly given her.
