Chapter 33 - CHAPTER - 33

Listening to Rosalie's words, the room fell into silence and everyone eyes turned toward her, to which she stared right back at them, her expression calm but unyielding, as though daring anyone to challenge her patience.

For a moment, no one spoke.

The silence was heavy, charged with the weight of what Rosalie had just said.

Feeling the tensed atmosphere around the room, Esme finally broke it with a gentle smile. "Well… what Rosalie said is right. It doesn't matter what he is," she said softly, her voice warm, like a soothing balm easing the tension in the air.

The Cullens exchanged faint smiles at her words as if agreeing about what she said.

Jasper, leaning back in his chair, gave a small chuckle."Yeah, Rosalie's right. It really doesn't matter. And honestly…" His golden eyes swept across the room, his tone turning thoughtful. "It feels wrong to question how he came into being when none of us even know how we vampires came into being." His words, simple yet raw, struck a chord with everyone.

Carlisle nodded, "Well then, it's settled. What's important now is protecting Lucas's identity as a spirit. That must remain hidden from the other vampire."said with his expression firm as he steered them back to what truly mattered.

To which everyone nodded in quiet agreement.Lucas, listening to their words, felt a wave of relief. His heart lightened as they collectively decided to stop pressing him for answers. Fabricating stories had been exhausting, keeping the truth buried, even more so. He silently thanked all of them, though his gaze lingered on Rosalie. Leaning down, he pressed a tender kiss to the crown of her head as if thanking her to which Rosalie smiled faintly at the gesture, her arms tightening around him protectively.

No one pressed him further about his origins, but curiosity still burned. Their questions simply shifted."Well, dude," Emmett finally asked, "What happened to your blade? Did it disappear, or what? I mean, it went into your chest. Where'd it go?"unable to hold back his grin.

Lucas smirked at the question and simply raised his hand, and with a thought, the golden-red ribbon tied around his long hair slipped free and materialized in his palm and with a soft glow, it transformed into a blade—a beautiful golden blade with crimson flame-like patterns etched into the sharp edge like before. It looked even more dangerous than before, radiating a suffocating aura that made the air feel heavy.

The Cullens stared in silence. None of them knew what to say. The weapon was mesmerizing, but there was no denying the danger it carried.

Alice, unable to hide her curiosity,"One thing that can turn into three? That's… very useful. I kind of want one now."said as she tilted her head with a playful grin to which the group chuckled at her comment, the tension breaking.

Lucas held the blade casually "From the knowledge I've gained about my ability, the ribbon and halo are just secondary forms. The true form is the blade itself. Through it, I can channel and control the sunfire."His voice calm but steady as he explained.

As he spoke, the blade shimmered with life, and flames burst to life along the edge. The golden-red fire burned brightly, and the entire room was bathed in its glow. The Cullens' eyes widened in shock, their bodies instinctively tensing at the display of such raw, radiant power to which they started to glow again.

Lisa squinted against the light, a hand raised over her eyes."Okay… can you maybe put that fire away? We're all glowing like lanterns here again." Her voice carried a touch of annoyance, though her lips twitched with reluctant amusement as she watched the blade lit with fire.

Lucas blinked, then quickly extinguished the flames and the blade melted back into ribbon form, slipping easily into his hand before tied once again into his hair. "Sorry," he said sheepishly, his voice soft as if it's not his fault.

The others exchanged small smiles at his apology. None of them were angry, but they made it clear to him that the blade should remain hidden and It wasn't to be used in front of other vampires, and only when absolutely necessary. Lucas nodded to their words, accepting their warning without protest and it doesn't matter to him if other see his blade or not, but he is 100% sure about one that the enemies vampire who will see his blade will not be alive the next second.

Once that matter was set aside, he began explaining more about his powers. He spoke about his "spirit dress" as they had seen it before, though he used the term carefully not saying "Astra Dress", and its unique abilities. He also admitted that he could fly.

That last revelation caused the most stir. Emmett whistled in disbelief, Jasper raised his brows, and Alice's eyes lit with excitement. Lisa, however, was quick to lean forward with a mischievous grin."Then you're taking me into the sky one day," she demanded playfully.

Before Lucas could even respond, Rosalie shot Lisa a glare so sharp it could cut glass. "Kidding. Well… half-kidding."said as she only giggled, holding her hands up in mock surrender.

The room filled with soft laughter, easing the tension.

Eventually, Lucas sighed, exhaustion creeping into his voice. "Well, that's about it," he said, "I think I've answered enough questions for one night."rubbing the back of his neck as if saying no more question.

The Cullens, shameless in their curiosity, exchanged guilty smiles. They had indeed bombarded him with questions, one after another, without giving him a moment's peace after his transformation.

Rosalie, protective as ever, leaned forward. "No more questions. Let him rest," she declared in one sentence, her voice firm, though the gentleness in her eyes was reserved only for Lucas as she reassured him that no one will ask anything anymore.

Esme, as the caring mother figure, looked at him with sympathy. "Lucas, would you like something to eat?" she asked gently. "We've kept you busy without a break after everything you've been through."as if she was apologizing to him for their behaviour.

Lucas smiled softly. "Sure," as he replied. Though he knew he could survive without food now, he'd be a fool to refuse a meal Esme was offering to make just for him.

Her face lit up with joy at his answer. "Wonderful," she said, rising to her feet. She walked toward the kitchen with a spring in her step, and Carlisle trailing behind her with a fond smile, eager to help his wife as he leave them on their own.

Meanwhile, Lucas remained with the others. Jasper and Emmett, grinning mischievously, invited him to join them in a video game match. Lucas, curious and willing, accepted the invitation and Rosalie reluctantly released him, though her eyes followed him every step as he sat down with the two.

Soon enough, laughter and shouts filled the room as they played. Lucas's face, glowing with enjoyment, drew smiles from the others as they watched him fit so easily into their family.

Alice and Lisa, noticing Rosalie's unblinking gaze on him, shared a knowing look. They shook their heads fondly, amused at her behavior. They remembered when they had felt the same way, clinging possessively to their own mates. They didn't disturb her, though, instead, they turned toward each other, falling into their own quiet conversation.

And sitting slightly apart, Edward watched it all in silence. His sharp eyes lingered on Lucas, on Rosalie's radiant smile, and on the effortless way Lucas had been embraced by the family. Outwardly, Edward was calm, his expression unreadable. But inside, a quiet storm churned.

He envied Lucas, not for his power, not for his being spirit, but for the love and certainty Rosalie had shown him without hesitation even tell him about themselves. It reminded him of Bella, and of how fragile his own bond felt by comparison and for the first time in a long while, Edward felt… restless.
