The boy suddenly cried out from the ward, his voice a broken growl. The monitors spiked wildly.
Athena jolted, her pulse racing to match his. She pressed a hand to her chest, feeling her heartbeat roar against her ribs for no reason she could explain.
The boy's eyes had flickered open just for a second… bloodshot, wild and in that fleeting gaze, he looked directly at her.
As if he recognized something inside her.
Sarah rushed into the lab door, her face pale with panic. "Please! He's getting worse… what's happening to him?"
