Athena's breath hitched, caught between denial and the dangerous warmth Xavier's words ignited. "You're impossible," she muttered, averting her gaze.
"Mm," he hummed, the sound vibrating against her skin. "And yet, you didn't push me out of this bed." His smirk deepened, wicked and gentle all at once. "Maybe you're getting used to me after all."
Athena froze, caught in his gaze. For the first time, she didn't feel trapped… only disarmed.
"You're impossible," Athena muttered, squirming lightly in his arms, her lips pursed in irritation.
Xavier's smirk widened, shadows of amusement glinting in his stormy eyes. "You keep saying that… while staying right here… in my arms."
"I'm not staying. I was asleep when you barged in," she argued, trying to push at his chest. "And you think you can just…"
