"No… no, no." Win's voice broke, panic rising fast. "King, you better not run away from me."
He rushed back downstairs, hands trembling as he grabbed his phone. With frantic fingers, he dialed King's number.
The phone rang once… twice… then, on the third ring, it went straight to voicemail.
A cold knot of panic twisted in his stomach. He dared not call Charlotte, he couldn't. He had no idea where King had gone. The helplessness clawed at him, shrinking around his chest.
In desperation, he called Mike. When Mike picked up, Win's voice was urgent, cracking with worry. "Where are you?"
Mike's tone was calm. "He just… left home. He's heading to the office."
Win pressed, "Please, come!
I don't know what to do!" Win pleaded.
"What happened?" Mike asked.
Win ran his hands through his hair, slamming the edge of the table with frustration. "I woke up this morning, and King… he's gone. I couldn't find him anywhere. It looks like he ran away."
