The scum proved difficult" Magnus smiled cleaning one of his blades from the blood staining it.
"But you know very well that the prisoner was to be handed over to the sun for further questioning" Cassandra said cracking her knuckles.
Magnus hearing this frowned and kicked his head back looking at the ceiling "You can't really blame me, after all the information we got was as a result of my incessant torture"
.
"That aside, the sun would have done a much better job of drawing out information through telepathy" Alexander pointed out; a fact that Magnus was very much aware of and should have given consideration as a head in the phoenix.
"So, I would like you to explain a little bit more on why you had killed the elf even after he had answered a great deal of your questions?
Magnus calmed himself and going against saying what was originally on his mind, replied "I just got a little carried away".
Vince hearing this smirked. "I highly doubt that, we all know the real reason you killed that elf so gruesomely".
"And what in Fang's name makes you say that? Magnus asked; a huge frown forming on his face.
"It's simply because of the deep hatred you harbor towards elves, a hatred that I believe is wrong and highly discriminatory in nature" Vince replied shaking his head.
Magnus clenched the knife so tightly until even the thick veins in his pale wrist could be seen in the dimly lit chamber.
"Do you by any chance know the pain of losing all your family members to the same race of disgusting scum? Magnus broke into a fit of maniacal laughter. "Or perhaps you know how it feels to lose disciples fighting to bring order to the large and never-ending chaos that those pointies have perpetrated against this world".
"And then you wonder what could be the reason for my hatred towards such scum?
Alexandre slowly and with a very annoyed look, drew a beautiful sabre from an ornate sash at his side. "You of all people should know our order's stand on racism".
Bethran noticing the tense situation of the room quickly took his leave and left the four elders in the torture room.
"To think you could allow personal sentiments and prejudice obstruct your dedication and service to the Night" Vince added pointing a slender rapier at Magnus.
"And historically speaking, the humans in general are the ones who have wronged the elves so greatly" Cassandra said, drawing her bow to its full length and consequently taking aim at the Crimson killer.
Magnus raising one of the knives in front of him sighed "That may be true but we all know that in the last seven hundred years of the Phoenix's inception, only elves have been the ones organizing most of the terrorist attacks against the sovereignty of the order".
"That may be true but it still doesn't justify your hatred for elves and as such you have left us with no other choice than to punish you" Alexandre interrupted, sheathing his sword.
Magnus clicked his tongue on hearing this and followed by a defeated smile, dropped his knives before sitting down on the floor, some meters away from the elf's bloody corpse.
Vince seeing this smiled. "Since you have showed remorse by not arguing or fighting, your punishment will be quite simple but at the same time harsh".
The three elders looked at each other with grim expressions before coming to a conclusion.
"We hereby by way of majority decision, sentence you to four months in Elyria for the purpose of acclimatization to the elven culture".
"You should have just sentenced me to a lifetime of torture" Magnus murmured hitting the ground with his fists in apparent agony.
....
Bethran walked into the Fang living headquarters taking heavy steps as he desperately tried to clear the last gruesome images from his mind.
Greeting some few assassins he climbed the flight of stairs took a left and after much navigating arrived at a large dark blue door bearing a knocker in the shape of a snarling panther.
"The infamous panther den" Bethran thought, knocking on the door. A few minutes passed before the large door swung inside with a loud squeaky noise.
The room welcomed the green eyed wolf with sights of furs, wooden furniture, a small armor stands, a weapon rack and a large shelf containing various bestiaries, encyclopedias and various editions of spell books.
"Welcome to my humble abode" Leo bowed, offering Bethran a seat at his reading table.
"So, what brings you here ? He asked, his mind still trying to guess the results from the interrogation.
Bethran crossed his legs on the oak table and after taking a glass of water narrated the entire interrogation from the beginning all the way to the subsequent confrontation with Elder Magnus.
Finally, with a cunning smile Bethran informed him of the recent tasks the elder had for their favorite assassin
"And just like that my outing has suddenly become another mission" Leo sighed. "Let's get this over with" he added picking up a notebook as he listened to the new lecture Bethran had just started.
