Kara floated upward, sunlight gilding her blonde hair. "As I said, I'm a Kryptonian from a parallel universe," James explained. "We crossed here by accident, meant to stay briefly, but we couldn't leave you."
Kara's blue eyes gleamed with intelligence as she landed gracefully. "I understand." She nodded. "My super brain scanned this Earth. There's another Kryptonian, Clark Kent—Superman. But oddly, when I arrived twenty years ago, he didn't exist."
She rubbed her chin, thoughtful. "My ship hit a temporal disturbance in the Phantom Zone, likely sending me to this universe."
Wanda blinked. "So this world's Superman and you come from different Kryptons?"
Kara nodded. "Yes. Like James, our Kryptons are similar but distinct."
James mused, "The multiverse's barriers are thinner than I thought."
"So you don't know this Clark?" Wanda asked. "In your universe, you were the last?"
Kara's eyes clouded. "Yes. In my Krypton, the House of El was all but gone. My parents, top scientists, foresaw its destruction and sent me away." She paused, frowning. "No record of a Kal-El."
"Got it," James said. A unique Kara Zor-El, independent of this universe.
Kara smiled, extending her hand. "Let's start over. Kara Zor-El, one of Krypton's last."
James shook it, feeling her surging Kryptonian energy. "James Holden. My story's… complicated."
Wanda offered her hand, scarlet energy flickering. "Wanda Maximoff, chaos magic user."
Kara studied her. "Your power's unique. I've never seen it."
(Note: This universe has no Marvel comics.)
Wanda winked. "First time meeting real Kryptonians too."
James glanced at the sky, clouds gathering, Siberian winds howling. "Not the place to talk. Let's find somewhere safe."
Kara eyed the distant base ruins, her gaze cold. "They won't let me go easily."
James's eyes flashed gold. "If they come, they'll learn the cost of crossing Kryptonians."
Kara smirked. "I like your style."
Wanda laughed, her scarlet energy arcing. "Let's move."
James opened a golden portal to Metropolis's bustling center. Kara's eyes widened. "Space jump?"
"Magic trick," Wanda shrugged.
James gestured. "Let's go."
In a quiet Metropolis café, they sat in a secluded corner, sunlight streaming through windows. Kara, now in Wanda's spare black dress, sipped coffee, smiling. "Been ages since I had something warm."
Wanda propped her chin. "How long were you locked up?"
Kara's gaze dimmed. "Twelve years."
James and Wanda exchanged a heavy look. "Twelve years," Wanda repeated, anger flaring. "Those humans are unforgivable."
Kara shook her head. "Hatred clouds judgment. My ship's gone. I'm homeless."
James tapped the table, gold eyes thoughtful. "What's your plan?"
Kara gazed at the Daily Planet building. "I want to meet this world's Kal-El. He's Kryptonian, even if we're not related."
Wanda nodded. "Clark's great. He'll be thrilled."
James added, "But it's complicated." He explained Batman's suspicions and the Justice League's tensions.
Kara frowned. "Bruce thinks Clark could turn?"
"Exactly," James said. "He's got Kryptonite ready."
Kara's eyes chilled. "Humans always fear what they can't understand." Her coffee cup cracked slightly.
Wanda touched her wrist. "Easy, Kara. Not all humans are like your captors."
Kara exhaled, the cup repairing under her bio-field. "Sorry. Emotions are… hard to control."
James said, "Your powers are new again. It's normal. But learn to manage them, or you'll lose control."
Kara nodded, resolute. "I will."
The café's TV blared: "Breaking! Unknown creature attacking Metropolis center, casualties unknown…"
Smoke billowed from a skyscraper, sirens wailing. A massive roar shook the city.
James, Kara, and Wanda locked eyes, their gazes piercing the skyline to the rampaging beast. "Go!" James ordered.
Wanda's scarlet energy tore open a massive portal. They stepped through, landing in the heart of the chaos.
