"Thanks for bringing me here," Wanda said softly, scarlet energy forming a flower on James's chest. "Beats Hydra's sims."
"Tomorrow, Tahiti," James said. "Coral reefs are great for precision training."
Wanda sat up. "Really?"
"If you impress me this afternoon," he added, tucking the flower behind his ear.
She laughed, settling under the umbrella, syncing her magic with the waves. "You're too deliberate," James said, eyes closed. "Heart rate's 92, pupils dilated 0.3 millimeters, sweat on your brow. Relaxed?"
Wanda gaped. "How—"
"Super senses." He opened his eyes. "Imagine you're seaweed, flowing with the tide."
She giggled. "Seaweed?"
He touched her forehead, warmth flooding her. Her consciousness merged with the beach, sensing every grain, every wave.
"Communion magic," James said. "Hold it three seconds."
Wanda focused, scarlet energy dancing naturally, tracing wave patterns. When the link broke, she was soaked but exhilarated. "That was incredible."
"First time's always intense," James said, handing her water. "Rest, then shape elements."
Wanda sipped, watching him. Sunlight traced his jaw, her breath quickening.
"What're you staring at?" he asked.
"Light refraction!" she blurted. "Your armor's weird reflectivity."
He chuckled, his watch morphing into black armor, golden veins glowing. "Uru-alloy mix, 0.0001% reflectivity. Impressed?"
She nodded, flustered, then summoned a stiff scarlet dolphin. "Element shaping?"
"Too rigid," James said, guiding her hand. Their energies merged, the dolphin flipping playfully. "Imagine it's alive."
Wanda's heart raced at his touch, his breath close. "Control your breathing," he said. "Energy follows rhythm."
Her magic surged, the dolphin bursting into sparks. "Sorry!" she yelped, pulling back.
"Emotions fuel chaos magic," James said, smiling. "But they're a double-edged sword. By sunset, I want that dolphin circling the island."
"Impossible!" Wanda protested.
He walked off. "At Kamar-Taj, backtalk means five extra hours."
Wanda grumbled but calmed herself, crafting dolphins. By the seventh, one circled the island, sunset gilding the sea.
"I did it!" she cheered, spotting James on a reef, taking a holographic call.
Tony's voice boomed: "James, a date in Hawaii? Superman and Lois, huh?"
James cut the call, catching Wanda's gaze. "I wandered over," she said awkwardly.
"Tony's always like that," he said, opening a portal. "Time to go."
Wanda nodded. As she stepped through, he added, "Tomorrow, Tahiti, 8 a.m. Bring the swimsuit."
Her eyes lit up. "Really?"
"If you finish Basic Magical Theory tonight," he said, smirking. "472 pages."
"472?!" Wanda groaned.
"Kamar-Taj apprentices—" he began.
"Fine, three extra hours!" she cut in, stepping through.
James chuckled. "Smart witch."
