A soft, gentle voice called out to her, followed by a light shake. Veronica's eyes fluttered open slowly, revealing the worried face of Evangeline hovering above her. Behind her, the rest of the group stood in silence—bloody, bruised, and completely baffled.
They looked like they had been dragged through hell and back. Swords stained with blood, clothes torn, faces grimy with dust and exhaustion.
Meanwhile, Veronica... was lying comfortably on the ground like she'd just had the best nap of her life.
"Huh? Oh, you guys are still alive!" she said with a lazy stretch and a wide yawn, as if they'd just come back from a picnic.

Everyone was too stunned to respond. What kind of thing was that to say?!
