Chapter 6 - CHAPTER VI: THE SLUMBER

Slowly, sparks started to fall from the sky and everyone started seeing. The skies were brighter and the Quad saw this phenomenon, but it wasn't just them, it was the whole globe. It was at night, but due to the much brightness, they started seeing their surroundings a little bit clearer.

"Wow, it looks beautiful," Shipka said. "Yes, it's nice," they all said in almost unison. "But it's not normal. Suddenly, they started feeling a slight heaviness in their chests."

Janet: (Placing her hand on her chest) "Something's wrong. It's like the air suddenly became heavy. And I don't feel so good."

(They all agreed, "Me too, me three, me four.")

John: "What kind of disaster is about to happen now?"

Jim: "Oiii bro, stop joking, stuff or things won't be so good."

"Let's go home, Shipka," said. "Let's go home, maybe the meteors are making the air heavy."

John: "There isn't that much of meteors in the sky to make the air heavy."

(While they were walking slowly home, slight tremors, unnoticeable by anyone, started to shake the ground, only the birds noticed and a giant flock started flying away.)

John: "There are too many birds flying away. I don't have a good feeling about this. All things happening are pointing south."

Jim: "I have such a worry wat."

(Immediately the tremors became noticeable, the ground was wobbling and it stopped.)

John: "I told you, see? My instincts were right on the money."

It was like he just gave the green light. The ground in an instant started shaking. "Get down," the two siblings said together. "It's like they were trained for this." The ground was shaking vehemently non-stop and they all lay down to the ground flat. "This was no more earth tremor, it was now a quake and they were happening simultaneously around the world."

And it happened even in places where there were no seismic activities, no fault lines, no nothing, but the quakes were so strong that the ground cracked. (Authors pov)

In other places, the rippling effects made buildings fall. Places which were not prepared for quakes this powerful or no preparations at all. It was a massacre, countless died in estimation, at least ten percent of the world's population died in this ordeal. It was so devastating that millions of people lost their families, friends, relatives, neighbours, and those close to them, while some who were lucky didn't lose anyone at all.

"Damn, I almost wet myself there," John thought to himself. "I've never been so scared in my life, even after staring at guns and being shot at. I've never been so scared over now. I'm shaking, but I've still kept his composure, showing courage to his siblings and Janet.

"For a moment I thought we were gonna die," John said aloud. He looked at his wounds and knew that he was going to slow his relatives because of his bandages and wounds. As the minutes passed, his chest hurt even more, so did his siblings, but they were now close to the house and they saw that some parts were destroyed because it was not made to withstand such magnitudes of quakes.

When they got to the gates, they were opened by a guard and he did not seem so good. So Shipka asked, "Ooi David, are you okay?" "My chest feels heavy, so did everyone here, but now they are down, everyone collapsed."

Shipka: "What about everyone in the house, are they okay?" (She asked anxiously.)

David: "I don't know about them or if they are okay, but everyone who I saw at the workers' quarters are by now collapsed due to the persistent pain in their chest."

Shipka: "So, David, why don't you come with us and accompany us to the house?"

David: "Yes, Maiam C with respect, respect, and no hesitation in his voice."

They then headed towards the house and when they arrived, it was a mess and it was ruined. They quickly got out of the car. The house had collapsed on one side and it was now a former shell of what it was, and then they rushed and left the car engine running.

When they got into the house through the side that fell because it had buried the front door. The house seemed like it was a double-storied house with a magnificent view of the sunrise and the sunset. It had a pool and the balcony was also magnificent, a proper house for the wealthy, but now a mess, nothing like it used to be.

They then noticed a hole with a radius of possibly 1.5 meters wide, but they then thought to themselves what could have possibly done that, but they did not care, but they only wanted to check what had happened on who had survived that massacre of a collapsed mansion. There they heard coughs and started removing the debris to check who had survived. The coughs sounded like it belonged to a girl.

John couldn't do anything because of his injuries, so when he tried to be a do-gooder, he hurt himself.

Jim: "Hey, don't strain your injuries, so stop hurting yourself even more, stand there and wait."

It hurt John but he knew his brother was right and he stopped, didn't argue and looked around. Then he waited for them to check what had happened and find the survivors.

He then saw who was at the corner.

John: "There."

Jim: "Where?"

John: "There," (while pointing at a corner) "on his right while he was standing where the collapsed entrance of the house once was."

They walked slowly towards the girl so as not to cause the debris to fall again and they removed her. Shipka noticed who she was.

Shipka: "Yvonne, is that you?" (She was covered in dust so much that someone who hasn't lived with her wouldn't know.)

Yvonne was coughing now, she looked shaken and her body language was displaying it all. Shipka held her so tightly that she felt her breath trembling. She held her for a while and then asked her, "Tell us anything," when she started regaining her composure once again.

Yvonne: "It was big, big, big. It destroyed the house. Big, big, big, big, big, big." (It killed them all.) "She said this in a startled voice, scared out of her mind. It will come back for me."

(They wondered how they even survived a quake like that one.)

BACK TO JOHN

After ten minutes of the earth shaking so powerfully and vehemently, they were all okay, alright with no injuries and that. (Shipka said let's go home everyone and they slowly went to their houses, but they were startled that they forgot that they had come together with a small vehicle from the house and it was too far away and still, now Jim, this was now, and the quakes were too powerful to stop at that instant.)

Now, they noticed you, they had now calmed down a bit. The heaviness in their chest now had changed to some kind of pain and they did not know what to do. Though it was only slight, but this wasn't normal, because it was the three of them who had their chest aches together at the same time. There was nothing that they could have done that could change this, so they decided that they would go home. So they got into their Jeep-like car and started going back towards their other real mansions where it was, in this case, closer, but the downside was this house was where their related siblings lived in the mansion, but they did not know anything for the land was filled with cracks but luckily the road was not destroyed by the quakes but the aftermath was there.

The roads were filled with debris, the trees around them came, which were old had fallen, some of them which looked like they had been in their prime was now down, there development cut short, and all the area looked like it was a massacre and then

The ground then started shaking again and they heard it. "Ssshhh," Janet said. "Did you hear that?" They couldn't hear because the car was still humming outside and then it happened. The car was lifted up into the air. It was hit so hard that it seemed like it was flying. Then it was seen. A monster looking like a worm, it was so big in estimation, around ten meters long at least.

When the car crashed to the ground, the engine was still roaring so it went after it again until it exploded and it stopped.

They then tried to move and Yvonne screamed at the top of her lungs and moved back while she was on the ground. And the gigantic monster looked at them and it turned. It was big, even though they were in the house and it stared at them ready to devour all living creatures.

Shipka: "Ssshh, Sssshhh," Sssshhh," Coha said this, while shaking her. "It's all going to be alright, I'm right here with you, don't you worry, just breathe slowly." Coha did this several times until she was relaxed completely. "Now let's start from the start, let's start from when the night began."

Yvonne: "Coha and Shady started muttering words, then formulated some sentences." (It was just after we heard your brother was back and then the workers came in and the househelps came in, who had custom-made maids outfits which made them sexy, black garments with fitted waistlines which was white and made them very formal.) "And told us that there were aurora lights outside, we thought it was a lie, until we went outside, when it did, when it ended, we came back in and slowly we all started feeling pain, thin in the chest and, less than five minutes, some few people started slumbering and collapsing while walking, and I forgot we left the music on playing." (They looked at her awkwardly, saying in their heads, "She could have started off with this.") "If some get dizzy and sat at the chair and they sleep, everybody, even dad and Carmila, they all fall asleep. Then it came, it was big and fast, and it dug a hole, then when it went back underground, the earthquake started."

Jim: "What came?" (with a curious and anxious expression)

Yvonne: (Pointing at the hole that was behind them near the entrance) "The thing that destroyed the house."
