Yuta, with his cold expression, stood quietly as the others observed him. Sui-Feng's sharp gaze lingered on him longer than most, her clenched fists loosening slightly upon confirming he was unharmed.
Mayuri Kurotsuchi tilted his masked head, his interest piqued. Though aware of Yuta's reputation for technical research, he hadn't expected significant aptitude with Kidō. To be considered a true master of Kidō required not only mastery of existing spells but also the ability to create new ones, and that realization left him unsettled. He wondered silently how far Yuta's abilities extended.
Even Jūshirō Ukitake, despite his frail state, arrived for the meeting. His labored breathing and unsteady posture suggested he might collapse at any moment, but his presence showed the gravity of the matter.
Chojiro Sasakibe stepped forward and spoke:
"Reporting to the Captain–Commander. With the exception of the rebel captains of the Third, Fifth, and Ninth Divisions, and the incapacitated captains of the Sixth and Eleventh, all remaining captains are present."
Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni lowered his eyes, his expression weighted and grim. In such a short span, three captains had betrayed the Gotei 13. Looking upon those gathered, only seven remained-Sui-Feng, Unohana Retsu, Komamura Sajin, Kyōraku Shunsui, Hitsugaya Tōshirō, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, and Ukitake Jūshirō. Including himself made eight-and then there was Yuta, who stood outside the standard chain of command.
"The report," Yamamoto demanded, his voice sharp as steel. "Captain of the Twelfth Division."
Mayuri stepped forward to address the assembly.
"In pure numbers, excluding Yuta, we are eight against Aizen Sōsuke, Ichimaru Gin, and Tōsen Kaname. Yet intelligence is what we lack. Aizen's current objective and full capabilities remain unknown, putting us at a severe disadvantage." He paused before continuing, "Judging from their method of departure-merging Hollow power to leave Seireitei-it suggests they have already seized control of Hueco Mundo. It is possible that Aizen has dethroned Barragan Luisenbarn and claimed the title of King of Hueco Mundo for himself."
The air in the chamber tightened with unease. Sui-Feng's features hardened as she spoke.
"Then we are not simply against three traitors of the Gotei. We are against them and the forces of Hueco Mundo itself."
Mayuri gave a single nod. "That follows logically."
Kyōraku Shunsui's tone carried none of his usual levity.
"So it isn't eight against three... it's eight against an army."
Mayuri's expression flattened further. "And we cannot ignore the ability of Kyōka Suigetsu. Complete hypnosis triggered by its Shikai renders anyone who has seen its release permanently susceptible. Each time it is activated, the victim becomes Aizen's puppet. At present, I have no solution to counter such a technique." His voice was steady and clinical, but the weight of the words made the chamber fall silent.
The tension broke abruptly when a flare of spiritual energy glowed from a device on Mayuri's collar. A projection formed midair-revealing Urahara Kisuke, in his striped green hat and holding a folding fan loosely in hand. His casual tone contrasted against the heavy atmosphere.
"My, my. Looks like everyone is in quite a grim mood."
Mayuri's expression twisted with irritation.
"When did you install a communicator on my person?"
Urahara waved a hand as though brushing it aside. "Oh, little things from the Twelfth Division archives. Best not to dwell on it."
Mayuri's expression darkened. "Claiming your devices surpass my own work?" His hand hovered over the device with intent to crush it.
Urahara remained calm as he continued to fan himself slowly. "I came only to provide information on Aizen Sōsuke's purpose and methods."
The captains and lieutenants whispered among themselves, several expressing grudging respect for Urahara's foresight. Mayuri severed the connection with a burst of spiritual pressure, the projection vanishing at once, leaving his expression visibly grim. The revelation that Urahara had bypassed his detection systems suggested that nothing was hidden from him, and Mayuri hated the implication.
Before the silence could settle long, the projection formed again-this time shrinking onto a small handheld device. It was carried by a tall, dark-skinned woman in black attire-Shihōin Yoruichi.
"Greetings," she said evenly.
Sui-Feng's sharp composure momentarily gave way as her expression brightened. "Lady Yoruichi."
The rest of the room, however, did not share her relief. Yamamoto's tone was harsher than before as his eyes narrowed upon Urahara's presence once more.
"Urahara Kisuke. You stand as one expelled from this society. Yet you dare to intervene here?"
The chamber stilled once more, the weight of Yamamoto's declaration pressing into every corner of the room. Urahara's expression shifted from casual to measured seriousness as he answered.
"This situation goes beyond Soul Society alone. It endangers the Human World, Hueco Mundo, and the balance of all three realms. If left unchecked, countless souls will perish-and the impact may even reach the Soul King himself. Allow me to speak fully."
