Chapter 93 - New Companions

While talking about Luna, Victor also curiously picked up the registration list for the second round of challenges to take a look.

It had to be said that a large portion of the sixty-three people on the list had surnames that were well-known in the wizarding world. Many of those who were able to pass the first round of magic power perception were people from traditional wizarding families, which showed that the pure-blood theory was valid to a certain extent. But it was only a little bit.

At this moment, in the illusion for the second round of selection, the young wizards were constantly undergoing tests of their humanity. When they entered the illusion, under the influence of the spell, they would subconsciously believe that the illusion they were in was real.

And among these sixty-three people, in order to get a better look at the challengers' character, Victor had given some of them special treatment. The survival partners assigned to them were not friends but those who had an extremely bad relationship with them in reality.

For example, our young master Draco Malfoy was not assigned one of his lackeys or Pansy Parkinson, who secretly adored him, but his archenemy, Harry Potter. Conversely, Harry's companion was not Ron, but Draco.

Now, a little over two hours had passed in reality, but five days had passed in the illusion. All the food and fresh water had run out.

In Harry's illusion, he was weakly calling out to Draco, who had fainted on the beach. "Malfoy! Malfoy!" In the past five days, he had experienced many things. Disgust, loneliness, fear, anxiety, confusion… different emotions would constantly grow in his heart every day, making him feel like every day was a year.

On the first day, when he saw that the person he was going to live or die with was one of the people he hated the most, he felt disgusted, thinking that God had played a huge joke on him.

In the beginning, to fight for food and fresh water, he fought with the annoying Malfoy several times, but they quickly called a truce after neither of them gained an advantage. In the end, they split the supplies evenly.

On the second day, he and Malfoy completely ignored each other, each eating their own food. On the third day, a cloud of negative emotions like loneliness and solitude gradually loomed over them. Harry couldn't help but start to lean on his only companion to vent the negative emotions in his heart.

On the fourth day, food and fresh water were running low. The desire to survive and the fear of death began to erode Harry's sanity. He wanted to snatch the remaining food and water from Draco's hands, but after struggling with himself multiple times, he chose not to do so.

On the fifth day, the food and fresh water were completely exhausted, and the physical thirst and hunger further eroded their will. Harry saw that Draco had fainted. He slowly walked over to him and called out to him a few times. He then found half a piece of bread and the last few sips of fresh water on Malfoy, which was just enough to keep one person alive for a day.

Harry looked at the pathetic supplies in his hand, then looked at Malfoy who was lying unconscious on the ground.

To save him or to save himself?

This difficult problem was once again placed in front of him. After what felt like a long time, Harry finally chose to split the remaining supplies into three portions again. He fed two portions to Draco and ate the last portion himself.

At the same time, outside the illusion, just as Harry and the others were constantly undergoing life choices, inside the tent enchanted with the illusion spell, not only were Victor, Hermione, and Cedric watching and evaluating the performance of the sixty-three young wizards, but the Heads of House were also standing there, as was expected.

Dumbledore was especially concerned about Harry's performance. At this moment, he was watching one of the sixty-three crystal balls. He was very satisfied with Harry's choice in the illusion, because the latter showed the qualities of letting go of past grievances and staying calm.

However, seeing this kind of challenge that greatly tested a person's character, Professor McGonagall expressed some concern. She walked up to Dumbledore and asked with a worried expression, "Albus, isn't this kind of test a bit too much? They're all just children!"

"Minerva, I don't think you need to worry! It is precisely because they are children that they can withstand such a test," Dumbledore said calmly. "They have not been tainted by the various colors of the secular world like we have. They are much simpler than us old folks."

"I think Mr. Dreyar also set up this test precisely because he considered this point!"

At that moment, Victor, who had overheard the conversation between the two professors, also spoke up. "Professor McGonagall, a person's true nature is not determined by their ability, but by the choices they make when faced with a desperate situation."

"You also said that these sixty-three people are all children who are new to the world. But it is precisely because of this that they lack the absolute rationality to make the so-called correct choice, and rationality will inevitably be replaced by their true nature."

"The purpose of me setting up this illusion is to allow us to better see the good and bad in each of their natures, so that they don't go down an irreversible path after learning powerful magic."

"Oh! Mr. Dreyar, your words are truly enlightening," Professor Flitwick said in awe.

"It's just a little bit of insight from life…"

Meanwhile, on the other side, Snape, after entering the tent, immediately went to the crystal ball in front of Harry and watched for a while, then went to check on the situation of the Slytherin students. But after looking around, he was honestly very dissatisfied with the performance of his students.

The traits of Slytherin House were: cunning, smooth, ambitious, self-preserving, unscrupulous, strong-willed, talented, friendly, and powerful. But what had he just seen?

When faced with the survival dilemma on the deserted island, besides self-preservation, all he saw was hysteria. The companions they were living with were their own friends, so why couldn't they choose to go through the hardships together?

However, not all the young Slytherins were so selfish and arrogant. Snape saw that one student had hope of passing the illusion test, and that was the son of his old friend: Draco Malfoy.

In the illusion, when Draco woke up on the first day and saw that the person lying next to him was Harry Potter, his feelings were similar to Harry's. However, compared to Harry, the young master's performance on the deserted island was more tsundere.

On the first day, just like with Harry, they fought over the supplies. On the second day, unable to bear the loneliness, he started eating and drinking excessively, while also showing off his glorious history to Harry, although it was unknown how much of it was bragging and how much was real.

On the third day, it was no different from the second day, except that the supplies were almost gone. On the fourth day, the supplies were completely gone. Draco, who was starving and thirsty, stubbornly didn't ask Harry for water or food.

On the fifth day, he fainted. Harry gave him a portion of the supplies, and he didn't dare to waste food as carelessly as before. On the sixth day, it was Harry's turn to faint. When Draco saw this, his first thought was, It's fine if that annoying Potter dies, it has nothing to do with me.

However, when night fell, the deserted island was silent except for the sound of the waves. Draco finally couldn't bear the boundless loneliness and slowly crawled over to Harry's side. After a fierce struggle in his heart, he finally took a sip of food and water, and then fed the rest to Harry. At the same time, he said with a bit of panic, "Potter! Don't you dare die! If you die, what am I going to do here all alone?!" Tears also kept falling from his eyes.

At this moment, Victor, who was watching this scene from outside, smiled slightly, then said to Hermione next to him, "He passed!"

Hermione sniffed and very reluctantly put a red check mark next to the name Draco Malfoy on the list. Snape, who heard that Draco had passed the test, had a slight smile on the corner of his mouth, but it instantly returned to his usual cold expression.

As time went on, the final round of the illusion test also came to an end. Dumbledore gave Victor a meaningful look and said, "I think we should leave. Our presence here might be a bit of a disturbance to what Mr. Dreyar has planned next." With that, he and the other Heads of House left the tent.

A moment later, the sixty-three young wizards who had participated in the illusion test gradually began to wake up. Cedric followed the process and led them to the lawn outside the tent. Then, Victor began to announce the official member list of Fairy Tail.

Aside from him, the master, there were sixteen young wizards in total.

Among them, seven were from Gryffindor: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Neville Longbottom, and Ginny Weasley.

Four were from Hufflepuff: Cedric Diggory, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Zoe Matisse, and Sonya de Oliveira.

Four were from Ravenclaw: Scarlia, Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, and Penelope Clearwater.

One was from Slytherin: Draco Malfoy.

Of the sixteen people, all except for Hermione and Cedric had passed both rounds of the selection. After the list was announced, some of the forty-eight people who were not selected were dejected, some were nonchalant, and some were outright angry and stomping their feet. But there was nothing that could be done. All the stages were fair and just. Those who couldn't pass simply hadn't met the conditions.

But at this moment, Victor looked at the list in front of him. Why were all the Ravenclaws who passed girls? And why are there so many Weasleys? Is this family that powerful?!

As the onlookers slowly dispersed, the Fairy Tail Guild member selection event came to a complete end. And now, as the master, Victor began his speech to his new companions:

"Welcome to Fairy Tail!"

"The fact that you were able to pass both rounds of the test shows that you all possess the talent and character to become great wizards!"

"And as the master of this guild, there are a few things I want to say to all of you!"

"Fairy Tail will always value the 'bonds' between people!"

"Humans are originally weak creatures and have feelings of unease. In order to live strongly, we need to support each other. In order to prevent clumsy people from hitting more walls and taking detours, there needs to be a guild and companions."

"Please remember! Supporting each other, relying on each other, and trusting each other, and constantly moving forward on the path you believe in, that is what a wizard of Fairy Tail is."

"So now…"

Victor snapped his fingers, and everyone felt a blur in front of their eyes before they arrived at a beautiful place. In the garden in front of the Fairy's Abode, a large round wooden table was filled with all sorts of delicious food, and the air was filled with a mouth-watering aroma.

"To welcome our new members, the guild has prepared a lavish feast for everyone. Please celebrate happily!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the Weasley twins rushed to the table like crazy and started to devour the food. Physically, they didn't feel very hungry, but after experiencing the process of starving and thirsting in the illusion, they were now psychologically very hungry and thirsty.

On the other side, Hermione also happily ran to Harry and the others and congratulated them. "Harry, Ron, Neville, Ginny! Welcome to Fairy Tail!"

"Thanks!" Harry also nodded happily. But at the same time, he also had a complex feeling and inconspicuously glanced at the slightly awkward and embarrassed Draco not far away, wondering what he was thinking. The others didn't notice the complex expression on Harry's face.

While he was happy, Ron had a look of lingering fear on his face. He said with a hint of horror, "Seriously, I thought I was really going to starve to death on that island. That feeling of wanting to put anything in my mouth was terrifying! I swear I'll never waste any food again!"

"Me too!!!" Neville next to him agreed. "In the end, I even started to drink seawater, but for some reason, the more I drank, the thirstier I got. It was torture!" He then shivered. Although they had all passed the test, the taste of hunger and thirst had left a deep impression on them.

"Ginny, how do you feel?" Hermione asked the youngest red-haired girl among them.

"I'm alright…" Ginny smiled shyly, while her eyes constantly glanced in Harry's direction, and her face unconsciously turned red.
