Chapter 10 - Reo

The door opened at the count of one hundred and fifteen.

'If it took me five seconds to sit down and start counting, then she's very much correct.'

His gaze alternated between the receptionist and the woman who had just come through the door.

Raven's eyes narrowed slightly.

The receptionist hadn't looked at any clock.

And it would be weird if she had just made an assumption that Nyx would be here.

'Maybe she's just that kind of weird.'

From first glance, he could tell that someone like her didn't care about opinions.

"Raven."

Nyx's smooth voice filled the room, snapping him out of his thoughts.

"Follow me."

She said.

He stood to follow, giving the receptionist one last glance.

The woman filed away at the paperwork, the world outside seemingly an abstract concept to her.

The hallway was quiet, the only noise being the sound of their shoes against the ground.

'He's gone.'

Raven noted.

The boy he had beaten up, was gone.

"I'll assume that since you're here already, you can already use the skill."

Her voice broke through the silence.

"I can use it.... mostly."

He answered.

The skill had two applications; long range and close range, however he could only use it from close range, very close range.

"But?"

She questioned.

"I can't use it from long-range."

"But, you can coat your hand perfectly, even while moving?"

Nyx stopped in front of the double-doors, her hands on the handle.

"Yes."

He replied.

There was a faint pause in her movement. Her fingers curled tighter on the hander before she pushed it open.

"Impressive."

She said simply, her tone flat.

Nyx's office was different from what Raven had expected.

It was plain.

It seemed like any ordinary office of some manager.

She went towards the chair and sat down.

"Most people take days before they can use a skill perfectly, however, you're talented enough to use it perfectly in some tries."

She said.

Raven wanted to correct her, that it was actually in a single try, but he chose not to.

Bragging wouldn't get him anything after all.

"It's not perfectly, I can't use the skill from long-range and I could barely use it two times before running out of all my essence."

So, he chose the more humble part.

"The other use of the Lightning Strike skill needs a mastery of 30% before it can be used freely. Your mastery is only at 1% now, with your talent, you should be able to reach there before the Academy's entrance exam."

Nyx explained.

Without wasting another second, she began filing the moderate stack of paperwork on her desk.

'Is that all?'

Raven wondered.

He sat there for sometime, waiting.

'Is she not going to say anything?'

Nyx had called him into her office, but she hadn't even spoken three sentences before the talk was over.

"Nyx."

"Yes?"

She said without looking up.

"What rank are you in the PRU?"

"Why do you ask?"

She questioned back.

'Of course, always answer a question with a question.'

Raven was just curious.

"You seem to be the manager, and this seems to be a PRU branch."

Nyx looked up from her paper work.

"You're correct." She dropped the pen before continuing. "This is a PRU branch. As for your question, you can just consider me as one of the higher members of the PRU."

Raven was about to ask another question, but he stopped himself as she continued.

"I'll tell you when it's time."

Nyx finished.

He didn't continue pressing for more info.

'If I had to guess, I'd say she's a bit higher than she wants me to think.'

Which was a bit higher than what he was currently thinking about now, and he was thinking pretty high.

Another moment of silence.

"So.... where should I stay?"

"I'll show you your room later, make sure you're at the training room when I come to get you."

"So, I should continue training?"

"You catch on quick."

That was his cue to leave.

He stood up to leave, walking towards the door.

"Raven, one last thing."

She suddenly called out to him.

"Yes?"

He turned to face her.

"You're not Invincible," Nyx said. "You're more like a flower."

"...."

Raven didn't have any words, he just stared.

He blinked.

'What the....?'

"I see."

He murmured before opening the door.

'I wonder what all that was about, did I ever say I was Invincible?'

As far as he could tell, he had never told anyone he was Invincible. He didn't even think that he was invincible.

'Wait, who is that?'

When he finally snapped out of his thoughts, he was met with the sight of two people at the distance.

He recognized one.

One was the boy he had recently put down, the other one was different.

Almost like a carbon-copy of the younger one, except he had more matured features.

'They're related.'

The conclusion wasn't hard to come by.

'Are they both her students?'

That was the real question.

The younger one's eyes burned with a silent fury, almost like he was waiting for Raven to get close so he could strangle him to death. Not like he was strong enough to do so, though.

The older one stared at him with interest.

'How would I do it?'

Raven was never a conversationalist, or good at holding conversations at that.

That was why he had trouble talking with Nyx.

Either that, or she wasn't the kind of person to talk to others too.

"Hey.... are both of you, Nyx's students?"

Raven asked.

The older boy stared at him for a second. A very long second.

Then, he extended his arm.

"Yes."

He said.

Raven took his hand.

"My name is Reo Gremory, nice to meet you."

"Raven Hesse."

From the corner of his eyes, the boy's younger brother seemed on the verge of a breakdown.

"And this is my younger brother, Leo."

He said, using his head to gesture to his brother.

"But both of you have already met, so you should know each other."
