Chapter 14 - Chapter 12: leaving Willowbrook

Dissolving into mist and reappearing in a whole different location wasn't how she imagined—not like she ever imagined how it felt dissolving into mist. She didn't even imagine she would ever leave her small town.

Thinking about it maybe she made a hasteful decision. She was the only healer in the town. where would her townspeople go when they got injured—slowly regret started to creep in.

Standing with a complete stranger she only knew for less than a week in the middle of nowhere— She gaped at the vast land with nothing but grasses. The air was fresh—clear. the sun hit her skin like it was welcoming her to the outside world.

She didn't want to admit it but leaving the town felt like leaving a small cage. She had everything but somehow her spirit started to crave freedom without her realizing. Now looking at a new land— in a strange environment didn't make her feel out of plac .She felt —relieved and free

Her regrets were swept away by the wind and the smell of nature. Taking a deep breath. A smile slowly formed on her face.

Kyle watched with intrigue. He had never seen anyone appreciate something mundane so deeply. He hated the human realm— never liked the sun. He preferred the dark probably because it's his nature or he's been stuck in the underrealm for so long the darkness had become part of him.

Seeing how much Ashley enjoyed nature he almost felt bad. He was going to cut her moment of happiness short. Making a mental note that nature makes her happy.

Facing the sun. he stared blankly at the empty field.

Few minutes past. Ashley noticed she hadn't heard anything from Kyle, turning to her side she had to make sure he was still standing there. She was already traumatized from the last time he left her alone in the forest.

Turning her gaze to him— his tall figure stood by her side. she had to raise her head and squint just to look at his face 'how can someone be this tall' she wondered—her head barely reached his chest.

Feeling her gaze on him "are you done?" He asked, not looking away from the scene in front of him

"Done?" Ashley creased her eyebrows staring at him confused

Looking down at her with no expression

"Let us continue our journey then" turning around and walking away

Ashley watched his back as he walked away, noticing he had taken off his cloak. Walking behind she hastened her steps to catch up

He slowing down his pace until they walked side by side

"Why do you wear your cloak" curious. She asked

Silent for a few minutes—he replied "to conceal my Aura and identity"

"Your Aura?" She said even more intrigued

"an Aura is the power extent of a magical being or a mage, the more powerful a being is the more imposing his aura will be, and it will be hard going around unnoticed with an aura like mine"

"But I don't feel imposed... it feels perfectly normal being by yourside"

"That's because I can conceal it, without the cloak" he replied leaving out the part that being his bride meant she wasn't going to feel his aura unless he wanted her to

"Then if you can conceal it without the cloak. why do you wear the cloak" she asked again

He was getting tired of the questions. Why did he feel like he was walking with a child, taking a deep breath he replied "to conceal my identity— its not everyday you see a man with silver eyes walk into a small town full of people that hated what he personified"

"Ohhh" She finally got her answer

Soon they entered another town. The place was bustling with people. Shops stood at every part of the street, people were buying and selling.

Unconsciously gripping Kyle's hand. She was overwhelmed by the crowd—This being her first time seeing soo many people in one place all at once— for some reason she did not like it.

He looked down to see Ashley holding him like her life the depended on it—which amused him "try not to let go so you won't get lost" he said

though he never liked being touched by people especially when he didn't expect it—Feeling her hand on his felt pleasant

Night had fallen as they walked into an inn. Ashley looked awed by the wooden building filled with people. Laughing loudly and chatting without a care in the world

The build was way bigger than anything she had seen in her town. it even had a second floor quite visible

Their arrival into the inn made people pause to stare at them. They didn't look special in any but the presence of a breathtaking man, who's aura was unapproachable holding a fragile timid looking girl was not something anyone would see everyday

Kyle ignored the stares. It wasn't new to him but Ashley on the other hand was not having any of it. She felt out of place in here

Feeling her uneasiness his grip on her hand tightened to draw her attention on him.

She looked up at him feeling calmer knowing—she wasn't alone.

Kyle spoke to the attendant. It didn't take long they were given a room with double beds. One on each side of. The room felt cozy and the bed was much more comfortable than the mattress she had at home.

Finally quiet and away from people Ashley sat on the bed looking out the window— admiring the crowded scene. she smiled prefering to watch from afar

Her eyes caught a group of men carrying sacks around—The smile on her face fell. She realized she had forgotten her sack of belongings in her shop.
