Chapter 9 - STUDYING

Aurora went into her home, the usual homey feel calming her down from the usual busy and stressful vibes of work.

"I'm home!" She yelled as she closed the door behind her, putting down her stuff, and walking to the living room.

Strangely, there was no noise, no small gremlin jumping in to hug her, just silence…

"Hello?" She called, walking into the living room, still finding it empty. Where the hell are they?

She went into the kitchen, where there was a note: "Out to get groceries with Natalie and our kid," with a smiley face drawn on the bottom-right corner of the note.

Aurora smiled. She was alone for the first time in ages. As much as she loved Elliot and her daughter, she wanted a break from all of that noise.

She plopped down onto the couch, taking a deep breath, her thoughts beginning to drift to the past. She remembered when she asked Elliot to "tutor" her, to have him at her house.

Elliot was explaining the lessons. The final exams are only a week away… My parents were out of the house, each at their own job.

It was the perfect opportunity to have him over, no parents, but I was scared that they might come home at any second, and scold me… Maybe even hit me.

He kept explaining on and on about math, and I understood it all, more than enough; I could ace the test without studying, but I also wanted to be around him.

"So, do you have snacks? I'm kind of hungry," he said. I could see his happiness; he is at his crush's house after all.

I want to tell him that I like him… or do I? I have no idea, I just know I have an abnormal interest in him, but my parents wouldn't agree with me liking a guy at this age.

So I got up, I went down the stairs, and into the kitchen, boiling some water to make some instant noodles. I'm used to eating those when my parents are out for work.

After I made them, I went back upstairs and gave one cup to Elliot and one cup to me.

He instantly devoured the noodles, his eyes shining like they were diamonds.

"Wow! I never ate something like this!" He yelled excitedly, "My parents NEVER let me eat these types of things! They say it's too unhealthy."

"Yeah, well, it loses its taste after some time," I nodded, "and unfortunately, it is the only thing I can cook."

"I can cook, my parents say that girls love guys who can cook and do chores…" he laughed, "yet there is no girl who loves me… even a girl to whom I already told my feelings to her"

I sighed. It pained me not to tell him how I felt, but I have to keep the truth, or I won't be able to see him ever again… Because of my parents.

The next day, I went to the library to "study"… No, it was more like a scheme to talk to Elliot, so I "read" the book before hearing "Hey" from behind me.

I immediately turned, hoping to see the cute nerd that I like, but it was the jerk, Bryan.

"What do you want…" I spat. It didn't feel like a question; it felt like an insult.

"Calm down, princess," he painfully tried to flirt. "How about we go somewhere more private, huh?"

He winked, thinking that any form of flirting would work, "Shut your nasty, stupid, stinky, jerk-face hole, before I turn it into somewhere where the sun doesn't shine!"

His face, twisted in anger, yet again, he was proven(yet again) that his jerk-face wasn't needed at all.

He stomped off I really thought he would put up more of a fight.

I sighed, then I sat back down, calming down, but then I heard another "Hey"; this time it was in the appropriate voice tone and sound to know that it was Elliot.

I got up and turned once again, seeing Elliot. I wanted to hug him, but I couldn't; that would be telling him that I like him.

"So… Why are you here?" He shyly chuckled.

"Well, I'm here to study." I gulped, knowing damn well that I'm lying.

"Good! Shall I join you?" He suggested, and I smiled and slightly nodded.

And that was that for that day. Nothing significant happened after that, just exams and people trying to get me to join parties since the year is ending.
