Chapter 15 - Enchanted Encounter

Azazel knew where Noah lived because he was willing to give that information in case Shaw's nuclear war happened, and Azazel would teleport them there to save his family. He wondered if everything went on plan, if Shaw would really ask Azazel to rescue them. There were benefits to rescuing them, of course, as they would be the perfect tool to control Noah. However, Azazel also knew Shaw hated non-mutants, and allowing them to not only live but also to be treated as mutants seemed like something that Shaw would never do.

Before rescuing Emma Frost, Azazel stayed with Erik and overheard Erik talking to Angel about where the telepath was and where Noah would most likely be. Then Erik spoke about plans to break Emma Frost out of CIA Headquarters. Erik knew the usefulness of having a telepath on his team, and if he could not have Charles, then he would have to get the only other one he knew about.

Sadly, Erik's plans did not go to fruition as Azazel broke Emma Frost out before he did. Erik, while at CIA Headquarters, found out by torturing one of the agents that, because of the security camera, they saw a man with a tail appear inside, grab Emma Frost, and then teleport out. Erik found out that Azazel had betrayed him, which was not unforeseeable; he hardly knew the man, but Erik thought that they had a common goal and hoped that the common goal would be accomplished together.

The Mansion…

"This is as far as we go. Even though I created a psychic shield for us, getting too close could still alert the telepath of where we are." Emma conveyed to Azazel.

"That's fine, we can see anyone leave from here." Azazel replied.

"So, let me get this right: you want me to convince Noah to come along with us?" Emma asked.

Azazel nodded, and Emma frowned. "Why not just take him by force, and then I use my ability?" Emma asked with an eye roll.

"Noah didn't close to anyone on the submarine and tried to distance himself. But there were times when his loneliness would catch him, and he would talk to me more about how to improve his abilities. One time, he mentioned that he never wanted to be controlled or his mind to be read and that he thought of a possible way or ways to such a thing."

Emma, looking now more intrigued, asked, "How?"

"Well, he told me that every time his telepathic friend would read his mind or speak to him through his mind, or even the one time he was controlled, his mind gave him a warning. Noah also told me that he wondered what would happen every time he felt that feeling; he rewinded his mind to a few seconds in the past." Azazel replied

Emma's eyes widen as she responds, "In theory, that would work, but would he forget those seconds, and would he continue doing that for as long as the telepath would use their abilities at that point, both parties are at an impasse."

Azazel smiled, "That's why we can't just kidnap him and force him to do our bidding."

Emma nodded but then asked, "Well, you know he has a family, why not just use them as leverage?"

"Anything we do to his family he reverses and besides that if-no once he starts using his abilities on offense then imagine him aging some til they die. The best thing right now is experimentation. Once he steps outside that mansion, try to use your abilities, see if they work, and if they don't, and Noah realizes what has happened, he will simply think it was Charles Xavier, his telepathic friend." Azazel replied.

"You really thought this through." Emma realized. "You really want him back alive… Your blood ties to him are deeper than I thought."

Azazel gave her a look that could kill as he said, "You weren't supposed to know that information, so act as if you shouldn't."

"You know he may have treated you better if he knew-" Azazel pulled one of his swords out, and Emma went into her diamond form.

The tensions were thick until Noah came out of the mansion. "He's out." Emma said, reverting to her diamond form, and Azazel pulled back his blade.

Emma put both hands to her head, concentrating on Noah, and for a fraction of a second, she felt his mind, but then it was gone. Noah stayed still as soon as his mind and abilities defended him. His eyes glowed a slight blue that was almost unnoticeable. Emma tried again, and still the exact same thing happened.

Emma then stopped, and Noah continued walking as if nothing had happened.

"He actually did it." Emma voiced with surprise. "There's no point in continuing, no matter what we do, there is no way we can get him to be on our side."

Azazel shook his head before replying, "There is a way. First, we will try this again when he is asleep, see if his defenses work while sleeping. If that does not work, we trick him. You show up in his life, he falls in love with you, and then when he does, you will cry to him, tell him you need help, and he will do everything he can to help you as long as he doesn't find out who you are and what he will actually be doing."

Emma looked at him with frustration. "This seems more of an inconvenience. I feel following after Erik is a better use of time."

"You owe me not just for breaking you out but from before as well. Do this for me, and you owe me nothing more. We will be even." Azazel replied.

"Well, the breaking me out doesn't count since you broke me out because you needed my help and you needed to do it before Erik did, lucky for you though I did owe you from before, so I'll do this for you."

Noah left not long after taking a bus, and they followed behind in a taxi at some point on the long bus ride. Noah fell asleep, and Emma used her ability on him once again, but once again, it was ineffective. "It's not working again; he's immune to telepaths." Emma said. The taxi driver didn't question anything, not what Emma said, not the red man in his vehicle, and not getting paid.

"That's too bad, it would have been much easier and quicker if his defense had not worked while he was sleeping. Do you want to meet up with him in his town or on the bus?" Azazel asked.

"The quicker I get to know him, the sooner we can be done. We will wait a few or more stops before his and then I will get on the bus."

Present Time…

"My name is Emma Frost. What's your name?" Emma asked. Emma couldn't see Noah's eyes or the top of his head as he had glasses and a hat on, but she could tell from his facial structure that he was a good-looking guy who could easily be a model. His being albino would probably make it even easier for him to be accepted in such a career. Although he did lack muscle mass. He seemed tall, but Emma was unsure. She had only seen him twice, once from a distance and now this time with him seated.

"My name is Noah Malak." Noah replied.

Emma couldn't tell from his eyes, but based on his body motions, he was either uncomfortable, shy, or nervous. "Malak, I think I've heard that name from my family at Middleburg." Emma replied coolly and with interest.

"You have family in Middleburg?" Noah asked, feeling more comfortable.

"Sure do! My parents live there." Emma replied with a smile.

"That's so cool, my father is the main priest at his church, many people know him, so I'm not surprised that you've heard of him. But- I think I would have noticed you there if I saw you. Did you guys not go to church?" Noah asked

Emma frowned, her lighter expressions gone as she replied, "My parents went to church, but I've lived most of my life with my grandparents, and they passed recently, so I had to go back and live with my parents."

Noah felt awful looking at the sad expression on Emma's face; he could even see tears in her eyes. A tear dropped down her eye and onto her cheek. Noah couldn't help himself as he reached forward and grabbed the tear. Noah, realizing what he did, quickly pulled away his face, turning red and even more red when he saw the surprised look on Emma's face. "I-uh, I'm sorry about your grandparents. I'm sure they lived a long, happy life, and you being a part of it was probably their highlight in their lives."

Emma smiled sadly before saying, "You are a kindhearted person, Noah Malak."

Noah wanted to ask more questions about her grandparents, how they died, why she lived with them and not her parents, but he didn't want to bring her pain by asking these questions, so he decided against it.

Lucky for Noah, he did not have to start up the conversation as Emma asked, "So your father is the owner of a church, huh. So, what's his son doing so far from home?"

Noah's eye widens, trying to think of any excuse besides the truth. 'I was kidnapped by my father's friend, rescued by some mutants because they wanted to recruit me as a fellow mutant, and then attacked by other mutants. I was kidnapped by them, and both sides of the mutants fought each other, and now I was heading home.' Nope, certainly can't say that. Noah also knew that once Emma got to their hometown, she would realize that he had gone missing. Noah sighed, thinking of only one excuse that would fit the bill, but it was something he would be ashamed of doing or telling anyone he did.

"I ran away from home…" Noah confessed. Noah thought he would hear laughter from the pretty girl next to him, but instead, there was excitement in her eyes.

"No way you did what every kid dreams of. What made you do it? How long were you gone for? And why did you come back?"

Noah felt like he was hit in the stomach as question after question came at him. "I was gone for about two months. My family is strict, did you know I'm not allowed to wear colorful clothes, only white, black, grey, and colors in between those."

Emma looked shocked. "No way you weren't allowed to wear color. That's crazy. Why did you come back?"

Noah had a sad smile on his face as he said, "Even though my family is a bit on the crazy side, I missed them, and I think that I can convince them that some of the things they think are wrong."

Emma smiled as well. "I think that what you're doing is brave, especially since once you get back, you will probably be in a lot of trouble."

Noah laughed, "Oh, I bet I will be."

The bus was now approaching their stop. "Before we leave each other, Noah, is it alright if you can take off your hat and glasses so that when I see you again, I will be able to recognize you?" Emma asked

"Oh, I didn't even remember that these were still on me. I put them on because of my condition." Noah then took off his hat and glasses.

"You have albinism." Emma remarked, and Noah widened his eyes in surprise.

"Usually, people don't know what I have, just that I look different." Noah replied.

"I only know because I've had a friend with that condition before. Although it causes much trouble, I would have to say it is quite a unique and beautiful mutation." Emma replied, and Noah was flabbergasted before he replied in a small thank you to her compliment.

They reached their bus stop, and both got up and off the bus. Noah was still quite a few miles away from his house. "How far is your place? I'll walk you there." Noah offered. Emma smiled as she replied, "I appreciate the offer, but as you see, that car over there is my ride." Noah looked over to where Emma pointed, seeing a darker vehicle not see who was inside. Noah frowned, a bit disappointed.

"It was an enchanting experience meeting you, Emma. I hope we will meet again." Noah replied with a smile.

Emma smiled back a genuine smile. "I was also enchanted by your company, Noah, and I know we will meet again."

Emma then walked away to the car, and Noah stayed watching as she drove off.

….

Emma got in the car to see Azazel in the driver's seat. "So how was your first meeting with Noah?" Azazel asked.

"It went better than expected." Emma replied, but a small part of her told her that she actually did enjoy Noah's company.
