Chapter 9 - The deep depth of the deepest morning

The scene was horrible. Blood was what could be seen majorly. Only the soldiers of Jumbadiway were dying! Pereguin hid behind the bushes, looking at the whole scene and drafting a plan.

'Pereguin…you are a heroine' she heard her mind echoing.

She started looking for the duke and his brother. She was too eager to fight. Probably, whatever the herbalist gave her was a driving force. Sooner than she expected, she ran out of the bushes and joined the war. She placed her sword laterally and kept of slaying people. After some time, her horse collapsed after hitting an obstacle. This made it tougher but she did not relent. She stood up and continued fighting. She placed her dagger at her sides and held on to the sword and shield, moving on.

The war was fierce but her enthusiasm was a drive. Jumbadiway meant a lot to her. She could not lose it to one nasty kingdom. She was fighting without her brain at that points, letting only her body move.

'Arghh' she screamed about half an hour into the fight.

A dagger was in her flesh! The thought of what the herbalist assuring her flashed through her mind. She groaned before removing the dagger in pain. She could not believe that after the many concussions, nothing was working. Yet, she did not relent. She stood up and tried to gain her stand. To ensure she could run, she stamped her feet on the floor continuously. It hurt but after a few seconds she continued fighting. She had to find the duke and his brother as well as kill the opponents. The works of her hands even marveled her because she was multitasking more than ever, killing about three people at once.

It was getting tougher than she thought. Luckily, she hadn't been attacked. The only attack was the dagger that got to her earlier. She had splashes of other people's blood on her though. It was getting even darker. Yet, no one was quitting. Rather, the game was becoming hotter.

Finally, she saw the duke's brother. Without hesitation, she worked her way towards them while fighting. He was so busy with fighting that he did not notice Pereguin.

'Lamidat!' She called out without plans of getting a reply.

The place was noisy so he could for sure not hear her. She continued fighting. Lamidat too was fighting. He was fighting so seriously that he did not know when he faced Pereguin and was about to thrust a sword through her trunk. He left her for a while and then grabbed her later when they were not much people around to fight.

'What are you done here?' He asked.

Pereguin did not give a reply. It wasn't the suitable time for questions that had obvious answers. She continued fighting as more people approached. They fought with their backs against each other's.

The sun had finished setting and everywhere was becom darker. Fighters lit their torches. Pereguin did same and kept it on a tree carefully.

'Pereguin!'

She turned back to look at who was calling. It was not just mere calling, the voice sound furious and bore sense of agony and anger in its tone. The voice was coarse and cruel. It was the Duke of Nior! Her eyes widened and her lower jaw dropped. He was definitely going to do something dangerous to her. His eyes were red and his teeth were also red. Indeed, the rumors of him being a carnivore was true. Was that human blood? His canine dropped blood. His veins and muscles were obvious. His sword also dripped thick blood. Was her blood also going to drop from that sword and canine ?  For a while, she forget she was in a war front. She moved an inch backward and tried to get missing in the crowd. Her spent a was nothing close to the warrior suit they were all wearing. Blood was dripping from her blameless legs. She limped and continued fighting. The number of people were reducing luckily.

She dragged out the last dagger from her side and groaned. It was going to sound more like a roar but a large hand covered her mouth tightly. Then, it extended to her nose. She struggled fearlessly but she was becomi weaker. Her breath was ceased. Soon, her eyelids met. She could think but she could not move her body into action. Nothing was visible. She was rendered useless for a while. The last thing that happened was that she felt her dagger and sword slipping from her hands and then, her hands were tied.
