Chapter 8 - Admission test

From the narrator's point of view:

The students poured out of the hall with growing excitement, each carrying a mixture of tension and awe in their hearts.

I stood among the crowd watching them, then footsteps quickened as everyone headed toward the side gates that automatically opened to clear the way to the testing field.

We all entered through the long metallic corridor shimmering with cold blue lights, surrounded by a giant transparent wall revealing the vast scene outside the academy.

Indeed, in the anime "My Hero Academia," the entrance exam in season one took place in a special training city full of tall buildings and alleys, not in an industrial forest.

It was a small city but fully equipped — multi-story buildings, narrow streets, wide plazas, just like the anime.

We were divided into different groups across the city's neighborhoods, and I had to run fast to catch my spot in area seven.

At that moment, the countdown appeared on the giant screen above the arena:

"10... 9... 8..."

My heartbeat quickened, the air filled with students' shouts and swift movements.

"3... 2... 1... go!"

Students surged in all directions, running between buildings, dodging corners, searching for robots to destroy and collect points.

I heard metallic footsteps and ringing impacts filling the air.

I saw small robots moving fast, some armed with small weapons, others capable of causing explosions.

I began moving calmly toward one of the small robots, not intending to attack immediately, but to test its reaction.

I carefully passed beside it, and it quickly turned toward me, starting to chase me with swift, incredibly agile steps.

It was not alone; several other robots—about ten—began running after me, producing synchronized mechanical sounds like a metallic dance troupe.

My heart raced, but I wasn't afraid. I started running through alleys, taking sharp, twisted paths, trying to get as many as possible to follow me.

The robots tried to surround me from every side, but I was faster, jumping over small obstacles and sneaking between the small city buildings.

Their continuous sounds, rapid footsteps, and echoing noises would scare anyone, but everything was carefully planned.

...From the academy supervisors' point of view...

The supervisors at the monitoring platforms were carefully watching every movement inside the testing city, their eyes capturing the smallest details, fingers ready to note any weakness or mistake.

When they saw a white-haired, pale-skinned boy quietly passing by the robots, his movements didn't seem logical or suitable for the test. Instead of attacking or collecting points, he seemed to be trying to run away.

Then about ten robots started chasing him quickly, following all his moves between narrow alleys. But the boy avoided them with agility, jumping and hiding between buildings, without attacking.

Another person on the screens was doing the same: running aimlessly from the robots, his face showing fear and confusion.

The supervisors stood at the monitoring platforms, watching the scene with utmost focus.

One looked at the screen showing the mysterious boy resembling Inumaki, manipulating robots as if they were under his control.

He whispered:

"Who is this boy? And why does he keep running?"

Another answered after checking the database:

"His name is Inumaki Toge. His power record is unclear; there aren't enough reports about him."

From the supervisor's point of view...

One of the supervisors muttered mockingly:

"Inumaki Toge? What a strange name, but it seems this boy was too ashamed even to register his power. Maybe he has nothing noteworthy."

Two others laughed quietly, exchanging looks of contempt.

One of them shook his head disdainfully and said:

"Hah, just a boy so scared of fighting that he runs away and makes the robots chase him. Is this the hero we're waiting for?"

Then they moved on to the other student running aimlessly, looking weak and obviously scared.

One asked:

"And who is this?"

Another checked the files and said:

"This is Izuku Midoriya... he has no known ability."

Worry and disbelief appeared on the supervisors' faces.

"How is this boy even allowed to enter this test without any ability?"

"This isn't like our usual heroes... maybe he's just a normal person trying his luck."

The supervisors exchanged glances full of sadness and frustration.

One said:

"These show no sign of deserving to become heroes. How can someone who runs away from challenge succeed?"

The monitoring screen focused on Inumaki Toje running from dozens of robots relentlessly. He seemed to run aimlessly, like one who had given up on his fate.

When the number of robots chasing him exceeded forty, he suddenly stopped in the middle of a wide street.

The robots moved quickly and began to surround him, but Toje showed no sign of fear or hesitation.

The supervisors watched this scene in astonishment and exchanged pessimistic looks.

One said:

"It looks like he gave up."

"Well, it doesn't matter, we have many worthy boys this year," said the supervisor, his eyes still on Inumaki Toje. As he prepared to stop the screen, it happened.

The boy stopped before a sharp word slipped from between his lips:

"Destroy."

A muffled loud noise spread before the robots slowly gathered around Inumaki Toje.

A disturbing, screeching sound came from their metal arms and parts, like harsh metal scraping violently.

Then the robots began to shatter one by one, their metal pieces hitting the ground loudly, sending up tiny sparks with each crash.

Heavy metal parts fell to the ground, dust and smoke covered the area, while the sound of successive collisions filled the air.

After a few seconds, the dust cleared to reveal damaged pieces scattered across the wide arena, and standing above them was the boy who had been running before.

But this time silence ruled inside the monitoring room.

"Damn..."
