In the evaluations of Severus Snape and Hagrid, Amosta Blaine during his school days was always a low-key and reclusive person. Even he himself did not deny that this was an apt assessment.

However, this was not because Amosta himself was a wizard who kept everyone at arm's length. One must know that Blaine was an 'outsider'. Before coming to Hogwarts, he had always believed that he had merely transmigrated to a parallel Earth. For the first eleven years of his life, he spent a lot of time adapting to a country with completely different living habits and customs from his previous life, and put in no small effort to pick up the cultural knowledge he had mastered during his student days, actively preparing for the future.

However, that admission letter from Hogwarts disrupted all his plans, rendering his previous efforts almost futile.

Why did he seem out of place with his surroundings during his first few years at Hogwarts? This question is very easy to explain.

First, the existence of magic directly overturned Amosta's worldview and values, accumulated over nearly thirty years across two lives. For those few years, he was constantly in a state of confusion. On one hand, he had to admit that magic truly existed and diligently studied magical knowledge. On the other hand, he always tried to explain the rationality of magic's existence using 'scientific methods,' which almost made him schizophrenic.

Secondly, the vague and contradictory plot memories still lingering in his mind also caused him distress. Amosta knew that he was in an incredibly real magical world, not a children's book. Here, there were dangerous and vicious magical creatures, unpredictable evil curses, cruel and bloody dark wizards, unscrupulous schemers, and despicable and shameless hypocrites.

Although Amosta remembered some names, he could no longer recall the plots derived from the characters, making it impossible for him to directly judge whether they were 'good people.' Especially after entering the wizarding world and realizing his own weakness and helplessness, maintaining vigilance towards everyone was his way of ensuring his safety.

And in Hagrid's words, the indifference and isolation from the Slytherin House students were the least of his concerns. After all, his young body housed a mature soul.

Severus Snape was the only wizard he acknowledged in that school back then. As for the reason, it was also related to Amosta's impoverished background. Amosta was destitute at the time. The small amount of financial aid from the school, besides ensuring he could afford used books and teaching tools, simply couldn't support his advanced learning progress.

To salvage his dire financial situation, Amosta had to find ways to make some money himself. Starting from his second year, he secretly began brewing and selling potions. In the beginning, he could only use cheap ingredients from student storage lockers to brew simple potions, earning meager profits, accumulating little by little.

Until the second half of his third year, he received a large order worth eighty Galleons—to brew a long-lasting Invisibility Potion. To ensure foolproof success, he repeatedly used the Disillusionment Charm to sneak into the Restricted Section at midnight to find information, and indirectly inquired with Snape about the key points of brewing this potion.

Amosta couldn't afford to be careless. The person buying the potion did not provide the ingredients. The most expensive ingredient in the Invisibility Potion, a single Demiguise tail hair, was worth six Galleons. Brewing this potion required five tail hairs, which would almost deplete Amosta's savings.

Unfortunately, things often don't go as planned. Without an accident, an accident eventually happened. Due to lack of experience, Amosta got the dosage of Abyssinian Shrivelfig juice wrong, and the potion brewing failed. Because of this, Amosta was dejected for several days.

But a week later, before Potions class, Amosta went to retrieve the ingredients for class and found a bundle of ten Demiguise tail hairs in his usual storage locker. These were valuable materials, usually never found in a student's storage locker! Moreover, in the subsequent class on the Confusing Concoction, Professor Snape, as if nothing happened, inexplicably started talking about Invisibility Potions!

This made Amosta realize that his secret brewing and selling of potions had probably always been observed by the perpetually cold-faced Head of House. Similar situations occurred several more times later, but both parties maintained an extremely high degree of unspoken understanding, and neither broke the silence.

Because of this, Amosta gradually began to trust Severus Snape. Before this, he had always been wary of Snape, because he had learned from conversations with fellow students that Snape had apparently been a follower of the great Dark Lord. When the Dark Lord fell, Snape had escaped trial by the Wizengamot because he had received the protection of Headmaster Dumbledore.

However, the close relationship with the Head of House did not change Amosta's philosophy of acting low-key. He remained silent at school, trying his best not to clash with others or to appear too outstanding and provoke jealousy. This situation continued until his fifth year, when it was broken by an accident.

That happened at the end of November 1986. That winter was particularly cold, and Granny Filena, at the advanced age of eighty-four, ultimately did not make it to the New Year's Christmas. Amosta had always revered his grandmother, who had diligently cared for his growth in this life and dedicated her life to charity. Her passing deeply affected Amosta.

But because that year was O.W.L.s year, the schoolwork was quite intense, leaving Amosta little time for grief. So, after hastily attending the old woman's funeral, Amosta had to rush back to school without delay to continue his studies.

The time returns to late at night in early December 1986. The pitch-black night sky, like a giant curtain, completely covered the land. The biting cold wind swept across the already freezing Black Lake, and the clattering of colliding ice shards sounded like Inferi chewing on bones.

After confirming that his roommates were sound asleep, Amosta sat up expressionlessly. He quietly put on his clothes and took out a picture frame containing black and white photos from a secret compartment beside his bed.

The common room was silent. The sickly green light, rough stone walls, and numerous empty carved armchairs made the narrow, low room look more like a tomb. Slytherin House students were not as keen on exploring the castle at night as Gryffindors. So, traversing the dizzying, maze-like corridors, Amosta did not encounter a single student.

However, even if he did, there was nothing to worry about. Amosta was very confident in his mastery of the Disillusionment Charm. He could completely conceal himself while moving, so much so that even Filch's malnourished cat walking by wouldn't notice anything amiss.

"Hey, little fellow, I think you must be lost!"

Passing through the entrance hall, the sound of voices from above the marble staircase caught Amosta's attention. He walked a few steps closer and looked up, discovering it was Bill Weasley, a Gryffindor prefect, speaking to a small Hufflepuff wizard.

"Hurry back to bed, little fellow, otherwise, I'll send you to Professor Sprout."

"Okay, okay, Prefect Weasley, I'm going back to my dorm now!"

Hearing that he wouldn't be docked points or sent to Professor Dumbledore for detention, the little wizard caught by Bill was grateful. He quickly bowed and apologized to Bill, then scurried away.

Having dealt with the unruly little wizard, Bill ran his fingers through his long hair, which hung down his back, humming a tune as he walked up the marble staircase, continuing his duties as a prefect.

Amosta stood at the bottom of the stairs, watching Bill's back disappear from view. The eldest son of the Weasley family, trusted by Dumbledore, Bill Weasley, the focus of everyone's attention, was highly praised by teachers and students alike in this school, not just because of his outstanding academic performance, but also because he indeed possessed extraordinary charisma.

However, among the older Slytherin students, Bill Weasley's reputation was very poor. They believed that Bill Weasley, who spent all his time with a group of Muggle-born wizards, had betrayed the honor of an ancient wizarding family. Secretly, they often plotted to teach Bill a lesson. But every time, they were severely beaten by Bill Weasley and his strong seeker brother, no matter how many people they sent.

Therefore, this led to Bill Weasley almost becoming the public enemy of Slytherin students from fifth year onwards, especially when rumors spread that Headmaster Dumbledore seemed to intend to give him the position of Head Boy when he reached seventh year, this targeting became even more obvious.

Amosta smiled silently, turned, and walked through the entrance hall towards the Forbidden Forest. All this trouble had nothing to do with him. After all, no one would be foolish enough to expect a transparent, unremarkable Slytherin to defeat a shining star like the sun from Gryffindor.
