"Amos-ta Brazen?"
Bill Weasley's handsome face lost its usual relaxed and easygoing expression. He was so shocked that when he tumbled off his Nimbus 1700, he nearly fell after his wizarding robes got caught on a broken log.
"When Filloa told me you killed Priyan, I thought she was just playing a funny little joke on me."
Bill's eyesight was limited; he only saw the crimson ground beneath Priyan, who was sprawled on the ground with his back bare, but couldn't tell if he was alive or dead.
"I simply can't believe it, Brazen. Are you secretly planning a massacre at Hogwarts?"
Bill's gaze roamed, observing the Gryffindor players who had fallen unconscious from mid-air, his expression gradually twisting. When he saw Charlie lying motionless in a clump of bushes, Bill's shock faded, replaced by hysterical fury. He didn't hesitate to pull out his wand and point it at Amos-ta.
"Tell me, you bastard, what did you do to Charlie!"
The Weasley children, though occasionally squabbling among themselves, were exemplary in their unified hostility when outsiders harmed their family.
"Don't shout, Bill Weasley," Amos-ta said, unmoved.
"First, get them back to the castle. I'll explain to the Headmaster and the Heads of House what happened in the Forbidden Forest just now, but I'm too lazy to explain twice. If you're curious, you can apply to observe later."
"Stand still!"
Bill's wand tip trembled as he sharply ordered.
"Filloa has already gone to inform Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape. Headmaster Dumbledore will also return from outside the school soon. You are not allowed to go anywhere before they arrive!"
A cold wind brushed their faces, leaves rustled, and there was still some time until dawn. A sharp killing intent lurked in the dense darkness, waiting for an opportunity.
Amos-ta glanced meaningfully towards the depths of the Forbidden Forest, his brows twitching. He wasn't sure what caused that sudden feeling of being watched. Considering that Acromantulas were not solitary creatures, staying here was not a good idea.
"It's not safe here, Weasley. Let's go back to the castle first."
Amos-ta repeated calmly.
"The biggest danger comes from you, Brazen. I'll say it again, stand still. And hand over your wand!"
Bill was highly vigilant. He stared intently at Amos-ta's wrist, his nerves stretched to the limit, ready to act at any moment.
Amos-ta frowned slightly, again looking up at the pitch-black Forbidden Forest. The faint but clear sense of unease seeping into the air choked him. He was almost certain that something was secretly watching him.
"I'll repeat myself too, Weasley,"
Amos-ta emphasized, "It's not safe here. Let's go back to the castle!"
Bill's eyes instantly sharpened. Amos-ta's words sounded like a signal for escape in his ears. So, he no longer hesitated and abruptly swung his wand!
Swish, swish, swish!
As the most outstanding student at Hogwarts, Bill Weasley possessed excellent practical combat skills. In a very short time, he unleashed three dazzling red lights at Brazen, sealing off all of Amos-ta's escape routes.
However, for Amos-ta, this was probably no threat at all.
Since Bill Weasley refused to leave, he would simply subdue him and take him back together. There was no difference in taking five or six people. He had already exposed too much tonight and didn't care about exposing a bit more.
Amos-ta flicked back the Stunner that hit him with his wand, his wrist dancing nimbly as he chanted the spell in his mind.
"Vera Verto!"
Bill's eyebrows shot up. He finally confirmed it: this previously unknown Amos-ta Brazen from Slytherin House indeed possessed strength far beyond ordinary young wizards.
"Protego!"
However, Bill Weasley also had his own confidence. Facing the incoming spell, he was not alarmed, quickly and swiftly setting up a defense in front of him.
Crash!
A strong wind rushed at him, and the powerful magic shattered the shield charm's barrier with a resounding crack. Bill's previously calm and confident expression instantly stiffened. Before he could react, he suddenly felt his feet lose ground. Just as his consciousness was enveloped by chaos, a sickly green magical light made his pupils instantly constrict. The secret observer finally revealed its sinister nature.
"Careful!"
At the last moment, Bill Weasley still warned Amos-ta.
Whoosh!
The moment the Killing Curse's light hit the ground, a cluster of emerald green fiend-fire instantly rose, its ominous aura like the Grim Reaper dancing in the flames.
Amos-ta, who rolled to avoid the Killing Curse's light, slowly got up from the ground. Although he had been prepared, being ambushed by an Unforgivable Curse for the first time still left him with a lingering fear.
That instant was the closest he had come to death since entering the magical world!
In her twenties, a woman.
Through the hand holding the wand, exposed from beneath the black cloak, Amos-ta deduced the attacker's gender and age.
A stifling silence ravaged Amos-ta's mind. An pervasive sense of crisis made every cell in his body tremble. Under the dual influence of fear and excitement, the magic in his body surged with unprecedented fervor, as if it had long awaited the life-or-death crisis at hand!
"No matter who you are, no matter what your purpose is,"
Amos-ta stared intently at the attacker's obscured face beneath the hood, saying coldly,
"Intruding into Hogwarts, and under Headmaster Dumbledore's nose, attacking an underage wizard with the most dangerous of the three Unforgivable Curses. I must express my admiration. You have a lot of guts."
The woman said nothing, only letting out a contemptuous snort, as if she disdained to respond.
"Dumbledore and the school professors will arrive here in five minutes at most. If you escape now, you might still have time."
The woman's wand hand was steady, without the slightest tremor. This made Amos-ta's heart sink, realizing that the other party was probably determined to take his life.
But why?
Since he had entered Hogwarts, he had never offended anyone. All his dealings with outside wizards were merely to sell potions through owls. Could it be that his self-brewed potions killed someone, and their family came for revenge?
That was, of course, impossible. Amos-ta was confident in his craftsmanship; such a tragedy would not happen.
Amos-ta couldn't figure it out, and the attacking woman wouldn't give him enough time to think. She knew that Amos-ta's earlier words weren't a bluff; Dumbledore and the school professors were indeed coming soon.
Tonight, the most perilous contest began!
The green light that once again illuminated the Forbidden Forest sounded the horn for a life-or-death struggle.
Amos-ta's expression was unprecedentedly solemn. He raised his wand high, like a sword of kings being swung down. The faintly glowing wand tip immediately became like a crumbling dam, spewing out an endless torrent of surging magic. Those magical energies, under the pitch-black night sky, transformed into a silver river of stars, striking the earth with immense force.
Rumble rumble~
The ground violently trembled. The large green stone blocking their way was instantly pulverized into dust. Ten thousand frost-covered leaves rustled at the same moment, a chilling sound.
When the dust settled and the spell's light dissipated, a shocking crack, seventy to eighty feet long, had appeared on the soft ground.
This spell was Amos-ta's response to the woman's use of the Killing Curse!
