Monica's POV
My weekend dissolved into complete mayhem as I struggled to organize my thoughts. I gathered my girlfriends on Sunday to share my news. Almost immediately, they launched into a heated debate about who would claim the title of godmother. Everyone quickly pointed out that Natalie already held that honor for Austin, disqualifying her from contention. I made Lily promise not to breathe a word to Colby—that conversation needed to come from me. All of them swore to absolute secrecy, especially regarding Morris. The last thing I needed was for him to discover my condition.
Monday hit me like a freight train. Exhaustion had seeped into my bones, and my concentration had abandoned ship. Fighting against a wave of overwhelming drowsiness proved futile.
"Monica, you need to wake up," Darren whispered, gently shaking my shoulder. "Come on, my office couch has your name on it."
I lifted my head from my desk, disoriented. "What happened?"
