(Note there is going to be a few times in the next few chapters. I wanted to explain what happens in the timeskip, but realized it was going to take way too long. Not only that but I want to start working on the next Arc of this story soon. JUST KNOW THAT.)
'In otherworld'
It was finally time. I looked at the rune circle I had made in the classroom. The circle was drawn using my blood and had the correct runic imprints on the circle. A live mouse was placed in the center of it. Which, lucky for me Mr.Eyeball had in stocks. Apparently, there was some wizards who did questionable research so much, that the top archwizards had to come down and say 'enough of this. Use animals instead'.
The mouse was in the cage, and the goal was to completely transfer its soul into a doll and than transfer it back into it`s body after I fix it. The doll being a stuff small huggy wuggy doll. I wanted the test to be as accurate as possible. I knew that getting their bodies was going to be difficult at this time, but Mr.Eyeball said that my education in flesh sculpting was doing well.
It had been a full year of intense study. Going over languages, theories, alchemy, runes, and other branches. I was just getting into flesh sculpting just yet, but if what Mr.Eyeball said is true then it won't take me long to figure out. It was just getting biomass, and re-arranging it with alchemic and runic formulas, nothing really that hard for me at this point.
I wasn't the cool shooting laser beams from my eyes magic user yet. But, I had a good basic understanding on necromancy, runes, ancient languages, magic theories and other stuff. I took a deep breath. I was distracting myself, with stupid thoughts again.
"I am ready. Start the process"
"Statement: Okay."
One of the little spiders opened the caged, and stabbed the mouse in the stomach. I closed my eyes and focused on his spirit. The main important task the circle did was stop the mouse`s soul from leaving, it forced the soul to stay on this plane of existence and in that spot.
I felt the tiny whisper near me, a small little flame. I focused more on it, letting it guide me. I reached out to touch it. It fought back, but I spoke the language. Spoke to it in a way that it would understand.
'Come, don't be afraid. Let me guide you.'
Speaking in dead language was hard. It was about intent, about speaking in something that wasn't made to be spoken by the living. Speaking in it too much cause side effects. Like pale skin, cold body temperature, and basically looking like an undead.
The soul followed me, and I put it into the toy. I opened my eyes to see the bleeding mouse, and the doll starting to shake.
The doll didn't stand up, but did crawl around like a mouse. It was strange see a doll move like that, but it is what it is. The next step was to 'fix' the body of the mouse. Focusing I guided the runes to 'repair' and 'stich' back the body as was originally. The backlash, was used to power the spell itself. I learned that a circle was used to return the backlash energy into the spell. Basically a bouncing off affect that made a spell more powerful. It could only be used in these types of situations, and shouldn't be used when normally spell casting. But, using backlash energy on a runic circle…well that was common, basic wizard knowledge. The spell worked, and I saw the mouse`s body stitch and heal itself like it had been before the stabbing.
Now, for the final test. The one I was most scare of trying to see if I can move a soul twice, it should be possible. The notes from prior wizards said it was entirely possible and had been done multiple times before. My problem was that I was new and didn't want to fuck it up again. Moving a soul to the afterlife was a lot easier, and it was something I was able to do a few days ago.
"Do it"
The spider killed the little mouse again, and just like before I focused on its soul. The soul was still the same, and the process was the same. I waited with a breath as the dead mouse started to shake and finally it moved.
The soul had been moved twice, and after killing it a third and final time…poor thing. I was able to send it into heaven, and learn that its soul was perfectly fine with no issues. The last few times the soul had changed, or been less, or something else. Needless to say, that many of mice have died to my hands.
"YES! Finally..I can finally tell marie the news about this. I got the runes good, the soul transfer good, and the language checked. I just need to make sure I have the right runes in the circle for soul healing and repair. That does it I am done"
"Statement: Congratulation student for finishing your project. I must remain student that he has become a fledgling necromancer, and most complete assigned task."
"I know..I know you told me that already..like a million fucking times. I will get on with the undead problem tomorrow. I swear"
I sat down, and felt a wave of sleepiness hit me. I was finally at the end of this whole thing.
I woke up to Xavier near right next face. Xavier was a hyper child, with a lot of friends. He was a social person, and…a morning one too that, when I woke up in the morning was always. ALWAYS! Near my face. I loved the kid, but holy fucking I hated to hit him sometimes.
"Where do you go?"
"What do you mean xavier. I sleep in my bed like everyone else."
"No you don't. You are a liar, Miss Delights says not to tell lies. You disappear every night, and no one know where you go."
"Xavier I am not going to get in this with you."
"Fine. Are you going to work for the adults today, or are you going to play with us?"
"I will try to play with you guys today. Mommy isn't going to be here today right?"
"No, she comes in on Mondays silly, today is Sunday. You always forget, why do you always forget?"
"I don't know"
I got ready, and went straight to the train, with the other kids. This group was going to the Game Station room. Usually, kids had their own groups and couldn't go to the Game station whenever they wanted. But I was Max and that meant I could do whatever I wanted to a degree. Going to Game Station whenever I wanted was one of those things. The other kids were excited. The kids and I talked, and it was a fun ride there.
Marie like always greeted the kids with a smile, and in her usual way. She saw me, and for a split second frowned before smiling again. I walked up to her and said
"Mommy, can we talk in private. This is something I really….Really want to show you."
"Okay Maxy. Alright kids I will be right back..Yes..Yes I know Max is being a big meanie for taking me away from you, but I will be right back"
She followed me as I walked in a corner of the room. This was a good spot that didn't have cameras in it. I looked up at her and took a deep breath.
"Marie"
"Max."
"I..I think..No…I know I can fix this."
"Fix what? By working with them more? By being part of that, and doing what they did to me?"
"No..look..I can do magic"
"What did you sa,y you can do Max?"
"like..you know magic, spells, stuff like that."
She looked at me like someone would to a person if that person told them that the sky was green, and that they saw aliens.
"Max. magic isn't real."
"It is watch"
I bite my hand just enough to draw some blood, and used a basic flame magic. It was a spell that made a small flame to appear, and then disappear a few seconds later. It was enough for Marie to see it and know that I was real.
"Max what is-"
"It doesn't matter Marie. I can fix you, and the others. I can get you into real human bodies again. I can make you that girl that I know you are. You don't have to be in that body anymore…nobody does. I can fix..everything. I can fix you; I can fix this company. I am already high up in the company and have people that want to work for me and love me. If I push further, then I could be the next leader. I could make this place the way it was supposed to be."
"M-ma…is it true. Can you really fix this. Can you-" she started crying. I grabbed her hand, looked her in the eyes and said.
"I can fix this marie. You can be Marie again. You just have to trust me. I know you don't like me for working with them, and to be honest I don't like working for them either. But, now…now is different I can fix everything. You and the others can live normal lives. Trust me Marie…please just trust me."
"Okay…I will. I cant wait to tell the others. There have been, some of us who…aren't dealing with it well."
"I can imagine, but look. Its better, everything is better."
"Will it work for everyone…even…doughy?"
"Yes. It should..sorry it will. I promise"
"That is good to hear. Prototype been…doing something, planning something. I don't know what it is, but I think it is something big. He has been talking to 'doctor' more and more. Its…unsettling to see them talking together."
"I bet Marie I bet. But, that isn't the only good news. I have an interview sometime this week. I am basically famous, if I can get evidence about the things going on here. Then I can make your lives better. Those people will get sent to jail, the orphans will be saved and…with my ideas we would be set. Its all going to be okay now Marie, everything is going to be okay now."
Marie was on the verge of crying but couldn't because of her body. She looked to me and said.
"Thank you Max, really thank you. I don't know how you will get past security though, but I know that if you go to the offices then you should be able to find something."
We talked about a few more things, before I told her that I needed to leave. The meeting was at 5 p.m. and I had other task I needed to do.
'Otherworld'
Ugg, fuck meetings and fuck deadlines. It was what how products were selling, the shows doing, what we can do better and what focused groups wanted. They wanted something new every four months. I wasn't a fucking machine; no wonder Ludwig didn't come home often if this was his life. Poor guy.
Mr. Eyeball was looking…no staring at me. I already knew what he wanted from me, and to be honest I had been procrastinating bad on the task. I had learned how to send souls to the afterlife…a few days ago and been more focused on learning on to move souls and better flesh manipulation.
"Directive: Student will complete task"
"Okay..Okay. I told you I would do it and I will…hmm..can I get support? Or am I going solo?"
"Directive: Student WILL complete task"
Yup that is a get your ass out of here, before something bad happens. I grabbed the student robes, and other supplies. Which included items needed to move souls to the afterlife, or detain them or calm them down. Basically everything a fledgling necromancer like me needed.
If someone had told me that I was going to be a necromancer in the future I would have laughed in their face. I hated necromancy in fantasy magic games. I thought it was stupid, cruel and other bad stuff. I was more of a healer, paladin kind of dude.
Thankfully necromancy wasn't a bad thing. It was just communicating with the dead, getting them to help you…and some…other interesting side things….nothing evil..per say
The robes were comfortable and made me feel like an actual magic user. The satchel bag had all my items, it was enchanted with increase space inside.
Cool robe check
Satchel bag check
Off to finally beat the fuck out of these undead…extra check
Oh my staff, Mr.Eyeball trained me on how to do spells with a magic foci and without it. Needless to say it was a lot…lot easier with one. The staff was just a basic wooden staff with a crystal was the end of it. It was helpfully in doing basic spells, without worrying about backlash for a newbie like me.
With that everything was set and done. Time for some sweet. SWEET. REVENGE!
