Chapter 8 - Theft

It wasn't a long dream, but it felt real. In this dream Leon was surrounded by countless worms with twelve knot patterns. These worms were trying to burrow into his skin and orfices but some sort of yellow layer was protecting Leon.

What is this... does it mean something?

Leon kept looking at the worms which kept trying but kept failing. He had no clue what this could mean. Ans shortly after he woke up.

When Leon woke up he had a strong migraine. His eyes were unfocused for a bit, and they slowly looked down... there was a worm laying on his chest! The same worm from the dream!

"AAAHHH!"

After letting out a girlish scream Leon swatted the worm away and vaulted over the couch quickly using his enhanced body. The worm didn't move, it was clearly dead. Charlotte rushed into the room and looked at the worm on the floor before approaching it. Her head felt light headed when she looked at the worm which quickly made her realize it wasn't any normal worm, but a worm that had strong spirituality.

She grabbed her iron cigar case and threw the dead worm inside quickly and looked at Leon.

"Are you okay?"

Leon thought for a moment before nodding his head.

"I had a dream with that same worm trying to burrow into me"

Charlotte's eyes widened for a second and she stared at the iron cigar case.

"When it comes to the world of beyonders, dreams aren't something you should ignore."

So what could it have been? A parasite trying to enter my body?

When he thought about it he looked out the window again and saw the same exact crow from yesterday still staring at him.

It's still there, staring right at me.

They locked eyes once more and Leon swore he could see the crow smile. Then the crow flew off without warning. Leon couldn't figure it out as his knowledge in mysticism wasn't deep enough. So after a chit-chat with the boss he left the building and went looking for a home.

...

Mr isaac pushed open the door to what should be Leon's room.

"You rat! You haven't paid rent yet-"

Mr isaacs eyes widened in shock when he took in the room. All the cabinets were open, a table was flipped upside down, There was a stab mark on the wall. He stormed into the bedroom and opened it before going to the wardrobe and looking inside.

When Mr isaac realized Leon left the unit without paying... he was pissed.

"You -"

He ended up shouting all the profanities he knew before calling the police.

...

Leon was wandering the streets, traversing through the tramps and people. He definitely felt bad for them, he wasn't in the greatest financial situation even though 6 pounds was definitely alot of money. Leon had one advantage they didn't, beyonder powers.

I'll head out to a wealthier borough and begin stealing things from nobles I can get close to. Hopefully their guards aren't beyonders

He was planning on pickpocketing a few people. But right now he was on a mission to steal that cane from the antique store. He walked inside and greeted the shop owner who was wearing a monocle on his right eye.

"Excuse me, my name is Edward morgan. I have a hobby for collecting canes, perhaps you could tell me more about this one?" Leon pointed his finger to the gold inlaid cane and the shop owner approached it. With a smile the owner began talking.

"This cane right here belong to a servant of Henry Augustus I. Later on a direct descendant of that servant visited the store and gave it to me. Its been here for five years now."

F-five years?! No way in hell no one bought it.

Leon simply nodded along while listening to the shop owner ramble along. About the cane's history.

"Some say it has mystical powers, of course who would believe such things?" The shop owner laughed while Leon just grinned from ear to ear.

Oh you foolish man... I can't believe im going to rob you. He's very passionate it seems.

"Do you have any other canes?"

The shop owner began thinking and then led Leon towards a display of canes.

"Here they are... the most expensive ones too. The first and most expensive one i own used to belong to the Amon family."

Leon's eyes darted towards a beautiful cane with twelve rings and inlaid silver. The fritz handle was made to look like a eagle.

The shop owners lips curled up as he began talking about the Amon family.

"The amon family was a very powerful family of the tudor empire during the fourth epoch. Along with the Abraham, Antigonus, Jacob and Tamara families. These five great families supported the establishment of the Tudor empire. I got this one from a trade actually. 600 pounds"

I doubt i'll ever have that much money in my life!

Then the shop owner pointed at another cane. A diamond inlaid cane! When leon saw this one he couldn't help but gulp.

"This one belonged to the Solomon family, it was actually gifted to me during a gathering"

The shop owner didn't elaborate as to what sort of gathering it was, instead he just stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"This one actually comes from the Solomon empire which used to rule over the northern continent in the fourth epoch. Since its very, very rare and is also inlaid with diamonds, this one goes for a thousand pounds!" He exclaimed cheerfully and looked at Leon with a smile.

The cane itself had a black T-handle which gave a straightforward grip. The diamonds were lined up in straight lines.

I feel so sorry for what im about to-

"So? Are you going to purchase anything? I don't mind giving you more history lessons! I don't get many customers after all."

Leon shook his head. "Don't worry, ill come back later to purchase something"

After exchanging goodbye's he left the antique store and stood outside for about a minute.

Wait, what did I want to do?

He had completely forgotten what he wanted to do at the end! Leon looked back at the store which stood out and saw the owner cleaning a lamp. Leon couldn't remember why he came to the store in the first place, until he did!

I went in there to steal something expensive! And I came out with nothing. It was like my thoughts were stolen.

Instead of going straight home Leon took a seat somewhere nearby and kept his eyes on the antique store. Minutes went by without anyone entering the place.

It could be that no one is willing to buy antiques, most of the people in east borough live in poverty after all.

Eventually an hour went by without a single living being entering the store. Leon decided that what he was doing was pointless and walked away. He kept his head low and walked past a officer, their shoulders brushed slightly but unbeknownst to the officer something was stolen from him. Leon had managed to pickpocket the officer and steal 3 soli from the officers pocket.

The cop kept walking until he suddenly stopped and felt that Leon looked quiet familiar. When the cop realized that Leon was wanted he turned around

"Wait, stop right there!"

Leon had already dissapeared.

Leon had quickly boarded the next carriage he saw and took a seat before pulling out his patched wallet to see his savings.

6 pounds... I really need to change up my face somehow. I am Edward Morgan after all. Im not planning on staying in East borough my whole life. Mysticism lessons with Charlotte start tommorow, i hope there's some way to change my appearance with mysticism.

Daniel, in his previous life hated studying a lot, he always thought he was smart enough and that made him an arrogant person. He went from an arrogant phase, to a emotionless phase and finally when he started feeling something again through art he was transmigrated. He picked up art because he thought it was the only thing that allowed him to express himself. In his paintings he always drew an ideal world, or atleast a world that fit his ideals.

Daniel had many regrets, his biggest one being that he should have spent more time with his parents. Leon had the same regrets. At that moment he remembered his missing mother and dead father.
